Quote "It DOES state in the interview by Ten Ton Hammer and Funcom that there are some innocents that have been banned.................before you go off accusing EVERYONE  of being guilty of cheating."

It also states that the ones that were innocent have had their accounts reinstated already and they have systems in place to prevent it from happening again - also they have systems in place that detects the difference from exploiting gold and those that transfer money to one player to pool thier resources.

He and his guildies exploited and they got caught - plan and simple.

The simple fact that he isn't going to appeal the suspension, leads me to believe that he knew of the guild exploiting or he was exploiting himself. Either way - Good Riddance.

Quote "There are also a few bugged quests which are repeatable that give 40k xp.  Abusing these methods, it took us only 4 days to get someone from 1-> 80, and we really didn't even try to do it."

Considering he used the word "us" and "we" - I'm assuming he exploited the quests for his toons as well.

Maybe you are playing a different EQ2 - Zones such as Sebilis have a 50 player limit before it's instanced, zones such as Antonica/Commonlands have a 100 player limit. I'm sorry to tell you - either you didn't learn much in your time with Sony as a *cough* GM, or you just didn't grasp the concept.

Zones are instances.

I was a GM for Everquest 2. Keyno you are incorrect. They were zones. Not instances.  When a zone reached over 350 people then there will become an instanced of that zone as a mirror zone.

You may want to get your facts correct :)

Well for a GM - you sure have your information incorrect - The populate limit for zones in EQ was 50-100 before a new instance would open depending on the zone you happen to be in.

A "Zone"  is a instance of whatever current zone you are in - for example regardless of how many instances are open.  Anything that is self contained - dependant on it's self is a instance.

I have to agree- they are large maps, I came over from EQ2, all the zones are instanced just like AoC and I don't have any issues with it. It's all the WoW lovers that are complaining, what they don't realize is WoW is instanced just any other game, it's not seemless, it just tricks the enduser into thinking it is while it loads the content in the background.

Beta was over weeks ago - it was moved to Test Live two weeks before the game was release and is active today.

I think that whole Epic design is still being tweaked and itemized - so at the moment they are kinda of a waste of time.

Most of your members must of used the exploit.

I've packed my bags in EQ2 and have moved to AoC and will not return - I know 80% of my friends have made the jump as well.

Only reason EQ2 has more content - it's been out for 3 1/2 years. Come on, of course it's going to have more content. AoC to me is a superior game - Has some issues to iron out, but the again what game doesn't. Hell even EQ2 has gone through revamp after revamp after revamp and still needs fixing.

EQ2 is a fine game, but AoC is better.

DX10 is NOT enabled yet in AoC - use RivaTuner while running the game tells you the game is using DX9 even when DX10 is selected - it just reverts back to DX9.

DX10 is a huge improvment over DX9 and you'll gain perfomance on a machine that handle the Vista requirments - XP is fine for those running 3-4 year old computers - but Vista and future Windows 7 will be the way to go for all games.

You have a Video card issue - has nothing to do with AoC. Like the second poster said lets try to figure out your problem and get you up and running.

My first suggestion is download the current DirectX build http://www.filehippo.com/download_directx/

The game performance is leaps and bounds over the PVP weekend or OB - it's almost a different game

SLI (Nvidia) / Crossfire (AMD/ATI) - When you put more then one Video Card in your computer and link them so one will process the odd lines and the other with process the even lines - giving you double the performance.

As for CPU's if the Quad isnt much more then the duo go with the quad core - AoC benefit much - but you'll always have the head room for other games and possible AoC patches down the road that will take advantage of 4 cores.

If I'm not mistaken, AoC doesn't take advantage of SLI yet - I'm not 100% sure on that.

It just kills me on how many people apply for betas - get accepted and complain that there is issues - they seem to think Beta is a acronym for early access with a bug free client!

The Perfomance issues are mostly a thing of the past in the new CB client  _ I even tested it on my Girlfriends computer - using a 8600gts - she still gets 20-30fps on high with an outdated CPU (AMD Athlon 3000+) and 2gigs of ram

OP - If you are playing Open beta - You are now two builds behind Closed beta - they game runs like smooth butter in CB and has almost no performance issues.

The SOGA models can by toggled on and off per race whenever you like.

If you like the Original model of one race or a SOGA of another, you can pick and choose, It's not all or nothing.

Go under Option - SOGA Models - then select the ones you like or all of them, completely up to you.

For the love of god turn on the SOGA models!

Everquest 2 and LoTRO have some of the best graphics bar-none, WoW on the other hand uses a dated engine that has all the armor graphics textured on to the character model - seriously outdated.

Character Animation, hands down goes to EQ2 - they have simple the best motion capture/character animation in the industry.
