I think the religious right is just afraid that gay people will have more successful marriages then straight people.  hell look at the divorce rates.  if gay people want to get married, more power to them.  not like marriage is any longer some holy sanctum (if it ever was)

and the arguement that gay people will raise gay childeren..  consider the fact that all people that are gay were raised by straight parents.

cheers!

save yourself some time.. dont get a pet

especially if yer a new player.  gonna cost you an assload of adena and hinder your levelling

theyre not that great either

oh..for the record?  if you didnt bother to read the quest and couldnt answer the questions, why are you blaming the game?

those questions are very simple to answer.  quit being a noob

still considering it.

I was a pretty long time subscriber.  Ive cancelled, resubbed, cancelled, resubbed.  The last time I resubbed was when the PvP servers went live to check out PvP.  I played up to level 10, realized how seriously out of wack the PvP class balances were (along with where and what level players could attack, and without help of guards) and cancelled

im a melee player.  I play a zerker, shadow knight, some times a bard.  So do melees (especially tanks) fair well in PvP these days or is it still dominated by necros and scouts?

the other thing that got me about the PvP was it seemed geared toward ganking.  IE if someone was 4 levels higher then you, you wouldnt be able to hit them and they would resist all your spells.  this made everyone hunt lower level folks to gain titles in starter areas.  guards wouldnt protect you either for whatever reason in the starter areas

can someone describe how the betrayal works?  how quickly after exile can you join the other faction?  how much resistance do you get while trying to complete the betrayal?

I think you should resub again, EQ2 is great. I too hated the whole pvp/ganking thing at first but I have started to love that aspect - now that I am a lvl 27 and can hold my own and deal out some sweet ganking love myself. I haven't found the class balances an issue but being a wizard, I need to be careful about who I attack. I ganked a 21 SK the other day and he almost took me (wizards have crap armour). Guards will protect you if the one doing the ganking is lower than they are in lvl. For example, if some 22's rush into Xroads, the 30 lvl guards will attack them, but if they are 42's, then the guards will leave them. Basically, you need to be aware at all times that you could be ganked and always keep your eyes open for an opposing player to jump...

bleh.. ok you pretty much solidified my assumption on how PvP was designed in eq2.  that is, it induces ganking.

i know a lot of pvp games are like this, but in most pvp games there seems to be a better balance between levels.

this still seems more like pk (1v1 ganking low levels) then pvp

thanks for saving me $15 this month

If your favorite MMO is FFX, and you dont understand what grinding is..

welcome to lineage 2!!  Hell you'll love it.  actually it sounds right up your alley

im not being sarcastic either.  grinding is

beating on mobs for the sole purpose of leveling or gaining adena

that is, beating on mobs with no quest purpose..and the same mobs for approximately 3 levels.  oh and keep in mind the time between levels can take hours..and hours

quests?  there are a few, but most are not very rewarding.  some repeatable quests, but stepping aside and doing most quests as opposed to "grinding" good mobs which have better xp and sp, as well as adena is not very lucrative

community?  all i can speak for is my server.  lionna.  community is very political..VERY political in how it handles the seals and alliances.  even the clans that dont roleplay..end up roleplaying due to this political conflict

if you want to see what i mean just visit the l2 forums and look at the "Chaos" and "Invincible" threads and learn the origins of these big alliances.

on lionna, you will see how politics become a huge part of the game.

sucks about that game.  everyone was so hyped about it then BAM! plug pulled

if I remember right, Mythica was announced well after Darkfall...  damn that was so long ago..

to be honest I cant remember when that game was first announced and slated to be released (mythica that is, darkfalls been on the burner too long to remember also)

Mythica was really one of those games nobody ever suspected to shut down.  My only hopes is it was political and the folks designing the game went on to do bigger things...that Im unaware of

Hinde has the best prices from what I've seen.

Lionna is pretty good also but the economy is around the same as Bartz

avoid Erica at all costs!

I despise the term carebare with every inch of my soul, espeically when I know it's comming from some console nut job who figures since he played a little UO, spent time in Wow is a uber master of CS he can go around spouting it everyone and anyone who will listen.

But over time, I realized that most people who use the term and actually think their saying something intelligent are mostly self indulgent, self important, dim witted, unreflective, stagnant, childish masachist who can barely see past their own noses let along see a large picture in the gaming community.

Oddly enough, this realization made me feel quite better about the entire subject and now everytime I see one these pathetic "carebare" spouting souls in some random thread, I can't help but laugh a little and feel profoundly sorry for them.

got me wondering, how many people who use the term remember the carebears

go back to more skill systems.  make games more complex.  think back to the tabletop games and even ultima online..  they didnt feel like video games in the sense that you only had to pay attention to a small handful of details (a,b,c, left, right, click)

i think adults have a longer attention span, they appreciate steep learning curves and depth in their games

some younger adults do as well, or the dungeons and dragons p&p games would have never had the success they have.

its knowing the line between tedious and intricate

pretty amazing considering I have yet to have met anyone in real life, OR on the internet that has even played the game...

much less..even heard about it.

makes you wonder how much revenue a typical type fantasy/sci-fi MMO would have if it used the same strategy?

EQ2 has a great graphics engine, but the artists and animators are probably the worst of all of those screenshots

that was actually the game I was refering to in my other post

you look at those screenshots and really, its a shame that some of the better graphics engines are plagues by piss poor artists

thats one thing lineage 2 has both of, a great graphics engine and incredible artists

personally I think WoW has some awesome artists as well, but im not impressed by its graphics engine.

saga of ryzom..well imo is hideous.

a more important question is, "Why play as elves"

everybody is fixated on elves, i hate em :P

I like the big bruiser type characters or any sort of animal bipedal type personally

35 here..

I dont think theyre squeezing out the adult gamers, but I think those of us who are in our upper 20's and 30+ are just getting burned out on MMO's.

we're the generation that has played ALL of them and we're seeing very little change in the mechanics and genre.  Even the younger gamers are starting to experience this.

we're also the generation who played PC games since the invention of the personal computer.  We've been through all stages of graphics development, AI improvements and the internet explosion.  I think we've become slightly jaded and ..well just expect more.

things are NOT advancing like they used to.  Each time a new PC game came out, it seemed like new benchmarks were set.  You can somewhat still see this in single player games, but you definitely do not see this in MMO's

so I feel that we adult gamers are feeling exiled because we've been through many years of PC gaming and expect a lot more then what we're given..

oh..and playing games swamped with kids sucks also.. I gotta agree on that point :P  but thats why I do a lot of research on the guilds/corps/clans I join to find out how many adults actually are member compared to kids.

but I mean lets face it, table top and video games are very jouvenile as a whole unless your at a poker table

sucks getting old.. doesnt it?  :)
