Well they may not care about what positions you are doing in the livingroom or kitchen...or bedroom...or patio...or...well never mind...

But what I mean is they all take an interest in what the partner is like and who they are. Noisy little bastages everywhere you go. And they DO judge you. Cold hard truth. This is what creates the problem for the gay couple. Everything is all peachy when its a M/F combo but the world turns upside down if its something different.

I agree about equal benefits under the law but disagree with your approach. You suggest taking away benefits from legal marrage which isn't going to happen so...the alternitive is to recognize Gay marrage. That's even simpler.

OP:

Okay here is the deal, It doesn't matter who you want to have a relationship with,  your friends family and neighbors do not want to hear about it. It is no different than if you have a relationship with a man, woman, goat.. people don't want to hear the broadcast. I do not care who you have a relationship with, just don't go announcing it to the world.  That is what I cannot understand is why you think that your in a closet just because everyone doesn't want to hear about the details of your relationship.

I do no support "gay marriage" but then again I am not too fond of "marriage" period.. but hey that is just me to each his own. I am for removing all benefits of being married so that those who choose to do so marry only for love, commitment , and religious reasons rather than some tax benefits and insurance.  I think regardless of whether you are single, straight, gay, married, or whetever you should have the same benefits by law, you should pay the same taxes, be able to put whoever you w ant on your insurance, be able to have anyone listed as "next of kin" and  have anyone you choose listed as a beneficiary. These things have nothing to do with marriage.

SO instead of force your gay marriage down the throats of religion, instead take the government out of marriage all together. Why would anyone want to participate in this cruel religious practice that doesn;t believe in the religion themseleves? I mean seriously, they all think your going to hell for being a sinner, so what would be the point in that? I mean They think premartital sex is a sin and we are all going to hell for it anyways.. so why would you want to be a part of that? Maybe it's just me.. but I don't get it. I have read the Bible.. just about everything we do is going to send us to hell. Soo why would you want to surround yourself with that?

What do I want you to do? I could care less what you do? go have fun, enjoy your relationship, and ignore those that hate you for it. Hell people hate me for alot of things.. DO I care? NO. That is their prerogative I do not think anyone should pass laws to make them not hate me, to each his own. You do not "need" to be married to show that you love and care for someone.. if anything marriage puts a strain on relationships anyhow.  If it is about tax benefits.. you shouldn't get married to begin with, marriage isn't about money, it is about 2 people becomming one in  the eyes of God. If Their religion will never recognize that why would you want to try and force them?

I say go live your life , enjoy your relationship, and  quit worrying about what other people think.  You do not have to be forced to accept them, and they do not have to be forced to accept you. Life is too short to worry about what others are doing, just enjoy it while it lasts.

"Ok heres the deal"

Friends and family want to know

Co workers want to know

Boss wants to know.

Everyone who has no business in your business, wants to know.

Next...

The institution of Marriage isn't going to change at all anytime soon for any reason especially if it involves removing benefits.

Religion - honestly WTF cares what religion thinks? All these self rightous Christians are out banging their neighbors in numbers just as high as non-Christians.

Reality, it hurts sometimes.

Not hard at all.  You are what we call, a minority.  Only 3 in 10 of 18-29 year-olds voted for McCain.  Back of the bus please.

Also that post is humorous, which I know, for a person of your fine upstanding moral character, (tightwad) is hard to comprehend.

Even in the minority bus you may want to put me at the back of the bus. I didn't vote for McCain. Modern republicans couldn't give a shit about morality.

And your post attempted humor...What's your point? That wasn't hard to comprehend at all really...

In regards to this topic and how it relates to the OP,

what exactly are you trying to tell us?

Gay marriage bans wont last a decade with all the conservative old farts dying off.  Change only happens when the oldest folks die off and take their antiquated values to the grave with them.

By the time we're all old bastards there wont be anything left to legalize, socialize or improvise unless some entirely new issues crop soon.  Like human/alien marriage after the first contact of 2012... or some such shit.

So yeah- Im sorry it's taking so long for all these folks from the era of "serparate but equal" so long to die.  But I wish you the best of luck.

I know it's probably a thing hard to comprehend, but people like myself who are still in their twenties happen to believe in this archaic silly thing valled ethics and morality, and don't believe that it's arbitrary.

I understand it's probably lost on people like you...But it'll never die.

But thats a personal value (based on what?) that people of one group try to inflict on others.

Homosexuality is not a value, moral philosophy or ethic any more then heterosexuality is, its a sexual orientation, nothing more.

If this guy finds love, happiness and comfort in life with this and someone denies that to him, who is wrong? Who is oppressed and who is the oppressor? Isn't the right to pursue "happiness" covered under our Constitution?

Why would anyone care? Let these people alone, life is hard enough without this sort of thing. If they want to be married, let them. What difference does it make to anyone other then religious folks trying to exert their will to control on others. What they try to do is say "love, happiness and self fulfillment" is OK in one case (M/F) but not in any other combination. Thats Hypocrisy.

Anyway, just my personal thoughts and opinions nothing hostile in the tone toward anyone. This is a touchy subject to be sure. Glad its not my fight. I can grab my wifes butt anytime I like (well as long as SHE is ok with being playful lol) and express my affection freely on a whim, these people, not so much.

I agree with this.

I'm sure its tough to deal with. I've been in the military environment most of my adult life and it is generally hostile toward gays.

Personally I don't care either way about anyones sexual orientation. What you do on your time is your business. If it doesn't effect job performance it's irrelevant to me. I'm not gay, everyone knows it, no one bothers me. I'm married, I'm not interested in affairs with other females, no one bothers me about it. Its pretty cut and dry in my book.

If this is where you find your joy and happiness in life well fine, I don't think it is right to deny that.

Good luck to you upallnight. The only thing you can do is what the entire premise of our country was built on...Fight for your rights. No one ever said it was going to be easy and it would happen in your lifetime but what are the alternitives? If it is worth having, it is worth fighting for. If all you plan on doing is sitting back and whinning about it and making yourself out to be a victim, well you get what you put into it.

Ruins of Magic - basically a F2P WoW clone, at least at low level it is only customization is way better but no racial selection at all, just humans. Interesting item (ruin) system. Gameplay is so just like everything else out there. Bah, its free. I can see this one being very cash shop dependent.

Atlantica - pretty interesting combat system but it sucks as an MMORPG

Go for Guild Wars - yeah you gotta get the box but it is still, hands down, the best F2P game out there.

Sample them all if you get the chance, only GW has a real cost and I think you can get a trial.

I'll go with some titles I really wanted to like but just didn't get into...

Tabula Rasa

  1. Far to linear and scripted
  2. mechanics didn't make any sense, it pretends to mimic an FPS but its turn / gear based like everything else
  3. Dull and combat centric. Just run from one pre - scripted area to another blazing away with a machine gun or whatever. No ground vehicles, no air vehicles, no spaceships...we deserve to die as a species in that game.
  4. To many WTF were they thinking moments like crafting...I mean, WTF?

Everquest 2

  1. Ugly, ugly, ugly game.
  2. They kept changing the core mechanics when I was playing
  3. Quest, although they were voiced over, where just "kill 10 rats". Very uninspiring game to play. It feels like a big scavenger hunt for trinkets when they aren't revamping something out from under you.
  4. Game is empty of players

Vanguard

  1. Empty servers even after the merge
  2. To many technical issues
  3. Not compelling to play whatso ever. I mean why level? It is a huge free roaming world but they stuck in all this linear "kill 10 rats" content. There is little to no point in any of the time sinks they put in like crafting - loot is better, ships don't do anything, housing is really useless and the areas are empty.

SWG

  1. Psychotic community before and after the NGE. Talk about drama queens
  2. Games was in a constant state of revamp from the start and still is
  3. Dull, dull, dull grind. Bol hunting, come on you guys loved it that much didn't you? It was a magical experience that just got better with every transformation.

Lesson for me I guess is not to play SOE games lol. I haven't actually purchased a "new" MMO in over a year. I didn't need to drop 50 bucks to know AoC was going to suck and that WAR was nothing more then a hollow WoW clone.

IMHO its pretty darn good for F2P. In fact its better then some P2P games so far. Its a bit weak in the graphics area but what F2P isn't? Its grindy roots do show through a bit. It also reminds me wayyy to much of WoW. I know some of you don't want to hear that but thats my opinion.

I was very surprised at the amount of customization. Way better then the game it mimics. I also like that rune system for your items.

Could use a few races aside from human though. Bah its free, can't b*tch to much. In any event, looks like it will be worth playing around with on a rainy day.

Unfortunately for P2P subscription models (and I don't really have a issue with either model) F2Ps are improving at a frightening pace.

With the P2P market putting out sh*t like AoC, I see that model having some serious issues in the coming years if they don't wake the f*ck up and start making some quality games.

Hey, at least this game works...more then poor AoC can say at launch. They are STILL working on the basics with that game while people are paying monthly fees for features not even ingame yet. What a shame.

Yeah, the technology is something else...I wonder what is it exactly? (I'll search later when I have time)

But good lord, what is it with the collective molestation of little schoolgirls in that part of the world, doesn't anyone like women?

2. The much maligned - Hellgate London. For a free MMORPG it's a blast for a month or two. Community - Didn't speak to a single person during my month or so of playing. Gameplay - As mentioned it's a blast for a few weeks but repetitive tile sets and the same old same old feel gets, well, old and stale fairly quickly. Fun - Maybe for a week or two. Then you'll soon realise it's a "rinse and repeat" type of game. Graphics - Average.

Isn't Hellgate shutting down?

Personally I have a hard time recommending games that are getting the plug pulled.

Definitely Guild Wars.

The community is probably its weakest point but if you are a little patient you will find some good people.

Gameplay is very good. You don't "grind" like other MMO's you follow missions that are all tied to a story. The PvP is very competitive and team driven although its just BG style "capture the flag".

Fun for all levels - again the missions take you through the 20 levels pretty quick. They are fast paced and challenging throughout. You can always PvP at any point if you get tired of doing the missions.

For its age, GW has great graphics and technical qualities. More MMOs need to adopt Arenanets style of great looking games that are fun to play and WORK at launch.

I agree.

To bad they screwed up the launch.

The unforgivable sin of an MMORPG as we know all to well.

No, you asked us (the readers) which of these two games you should play.

Your quote

"I am trying to decide which game to get into, lotro or eq2 since they both have new expansions coming out this month. "

Now I am sure that many would like to help you out, its difficult to do when you keep switching gears, don't say what you are looking for in a game, and throw other titles into the mix.

I'll take your advice though and ignore your topic because its nothing more then a ping pong match in the dark.

Ok dude, you are going to need to get more specific.

What is it you want out of an MMO?

Everyone is just stabbing in the dark on your thread. You haven't said once what you are looking for. Both games have their pros and cons. They are both fantasy games. Now you are throwing Vanguard into the mix.

What exactly are you looking for in an MMORPG because at their core, none of these games are a lot different from one another.
