I would head over to the looking for linkshell section of the FFXI forums here and start getting in touch with one you think that you like.

While many people think they are at a standstill, I still support the statement that they are evolving. We wouldn't even try some of the stuff games are putting out now, a decade ago. We are trying new mechanics in games and new sub-genres for MMORPGs themselves. We have pirate mmo, fantasy mmos, fps mmos, tps mmos, low fantasy mmos.

Improving on old ideas and adding new ones. This is a slow process but it is not at a standstill.

Yes there are raids and I found them fun but the only way to know for sure is to try them yourself.

I would imagine that they allow that type to be in beta seeing as how you would want to get some variety of cards and machines to see how they run.

Server type #1 - Open RvR
In this server type you will be able to kill any member of the enemy you meet other than true newbies.  There will be no flagging of any kind so please, engage in RvR whenever and where you meet the enemy (other than the starting areas).

Server type #2 - Core Ruleset
In this server type, the starting areas are still safe and we add the concept of protected PvE areas.  Once an enemy player enters a protected area, he will be immediately flagged for RvR and will be unable to unflag himself.  Within the PvE area he cannot initiate PvP but once he is attacked, whoever attacked him is fair game.  We will also have some protections to prevent dumbass behavior (like killing certain NPCs/MOBs of the other side) as well.  We will talk about this stuff with you folks over the next few months.

Server Type #3 - Role-playing
This server will be (b) but with additional RPing rules.  We are considering a ORvR RP server as well based on demand.

The beta center will be down for the next couple of days, was the official word as of yesterday morning. I would expect it to be back up either tomorrow or the day after at the latest. No worries, and welcome to the beta club!

Look on the bright side... the more it's delayed, the LESS likely it'll have a release like Vanguard, EQ2, or many of the other notoriously-launched MMO's.

Then it won't take a year to fix the game like VG and EQ2 required, because they'll fix it BEFORE release.

Yeah.. the more delays, the more likely it wont be released at all... and eq2 was never in the shape vangaurd was in, eq2 just tried to hard to please everyone and in the end pleased no one.

It pleased me, so not your argument is null.

Actually no big difference.

Even goin back to DAOC.  They all say PVP based, HAS OUTSTANDING PVP CONTENT.  Its all BS.

WoW followed in DAOC footsteps by allowing players to go into those arenas and to fight others realms in combat, and even to invade other realms on their home turf.  WoW did the same thing, yet DAOC is seen as more pvp based?  ITems were basicaly the same in both games.  So far I have heard nothing in WAR that tells me its 100% PVP skill based (meaning you dont need the highest ranked weapon in order to do any good).

I have heard nothing but very small differences between WAR and DAOC, and that goes with any mmorpg.  Even WoW shows very few differences from DAOC.  The only reason why WAR SHOULD get away with this is cause its made by the same creators as DAOC (mythic).

Again if you want a pvp based game, look at Darkfall online, shadowbane(basic concepts revolve around pvp), AoC, Asheron's Call (darktide).

Hi,

Just a little comment on the underlying sentence.

I played three level 50 characters ( a 50 in each realm ) in Daoc including one which was realm rank 6. I left Daoc when SWG was released so I dont know what TAO and New Frontier changed pvp wise ).

Anyway, when I was playing once you had a 99% or 100% crafted armor with maxed out resists, the stat bonus where you needed too and the proc, reverse proc you wanted, your character was on an equal level next to the others players character. I am of course speaking gear wise.  And it was not that hard to wear such armor.

The difference in "uberness" came with Realm Abilites and player skill not the time you spent collecting powerfull gear in pve.

Furthermore, WoW is a PvE item centric base game with close to meaningless PvP ( that will change with the next addon I've read ) compared to Daoc  ( you had realm relic which gave to all  players of a realm a bonus to magic, melee or mana "not sure if it was mana, you could open a dungeon by controling more castle that the others realm, Darkness Fall dungeon where you could pvp as well ) and WAR is more of a PvP less item centric game.

Note that I don't bash WoW PvP, I just didn't found it interesting nor well implemented.

I think WAR will be similar to Daoc in that area, at least I hope it will.

As for WAR behind a WoW ripoff, I stand on the side which think the contrary. Warhammer univers came before Warcraft one and Warcraft graphic art is a ripoff of Warhammer art.

PS : I've played WoW too, level 70 hunter with raid gear ( mostly MC stuff, I left the game short time after BWL was added ).

Regards,

Xavier

PS : worry for the bad quoting.

Im going to feel sorry for all the people that believed that it was going to be DAoC 2.0 PvP wise when this releases.  ( I was one of those people).  You will be utterly crushed when you discover that its a complete WoW knock-off.  And like I always say at the end of my posts so people don't repeat "U NEVA PLAID IT!!!11", yes I have played it as much as I wanted.

Playing a game for 45 minutes at a convention is not enough to judge an entire game. Also, what server did you play on in beta and what was your character name if you beta'd it? You obviously aren't playing it anymore so breaking the NDA would not be an issue with you.

I'm disappointed. Played it at the Games Convention Asia and it's a complete WoW clone. Animations, interface, controls. Heck, even the spell portraits are similar. Disappointing.

Best new screen name troll ever man . There is no NDA on those that play it at conventions so go ahead get on your main s/n and post this again.

But  you have not played it nor where you at the convention i gather. SAd sad post.

PS please have someone who played the game post it was a bad game... for i have been watchign and not seen this. Don't say it , link it and the write-up / pics / vids that go with it.

You people are so hilarious, and its also funny that you won't listen to anyone's "bad" opinion on the game.  Even if he is just trolling and never played it, its completely true.  Its pathetic how much of a WoW clone this game is.  You can either believe me or not, I have had plenty of time to play this and its nothing all this hype makes it up to be.

I played it at the convention as well. And I do not think it is as much of a "clone" as you are making it out to be. Would you like to tell me how all of the animations are cloned? Just tell me the names of 10 abilities in WAR and 10 abilities in WoW that are exactly the same.

You will find some Role Play here, but like others have already said, you will not find it much, or often. Good luck to you.

Check out what the people intersted in that other mmo have to say about stealth
http://www.warhammeralliance.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3460&highlight=poll+stealth
Grow up and accept that not everyone has the same opinion as you. Keep up with the namecalling though it amuses me tbh i guess the generalization of "wow kiddie" wasnt too far off

Warhammer just copped out. Instead of trying to improve how stealth works, they just decided not to bother with it.

Didn't they try to leave out female characters also? Are they in now? Are they class specific? Not sure but I thought I read something to that effect and how there was some shots being thrown that way for it. Can't be sure though.

Are you asking about AoC or WAR?

Playing it at the convention is what actually made me turn coat and decide I will play this game along with AoC. Maybe it wasn't fun for him, but I doubt that as most people who played it stayed and talked about it long after hour game time was up. Same things with AoC, the only complaints I could think of for either game is that on the connections at the conventions lag can sometimes be a pain.

This game is over you people need to move on.

Normally when people aren't trolling they are willing to post reasons for their statements.

The reasons have been stated lots of times in these forums so I dont wanna bring it all up again. Just saw this thread title on the home page and couldn't help but laugh. The OP should find another game to be excited about, one that he may actually play some day. I recommend POTBS.

LoL PotBS? I would suggest WAR, AoC, TCoS, AION, and Fury all before PotBS.
