The whole chat system is this game is bonked. Doesn't help that you cannot link items. And noone uses /1, even in cities. Partly to do with no confusion on where quests are ect. For one I hate the R button . . . it doesn't reply to the last person yet the last person you messaged. And how enter takes you to the last type of text input you did, it should default to either /say or /g ect. (Equals a ton of Miss tells) And about /1 it's also because the text boxes are to small (yes you can tinker with em, but I think you know what I mean) and the fact that it describes everything about your character and fills up the box ex (this is a dramatization): [Troll Country area 5][Valon the Chaos Chosen][Level 20][In the Chaos starting lands]says:"Hi". Here's how it looks like if you have a small chatbox:
Little annoying... |

They are crying about sever merges because they rolled on a low pop server thinking that they will get into scenarios faster. However, because the population is low there aren't enough people to run said scenario. I think Mythic got a bit ahead of themselves and have a few too many servers. As such some severs aren't seeing as much actions as others. |

Crash to desktop very very very often. I have a feeling that it is texture or other graphic issues, since it happens when I turn to an area I have not seen or visited before. This makes the card load more textures, etc. I was running everything at max in the game settings, and AA/AF forced to max on my card. I turned down some of my video options and they looked to stop.

Lets face it. The guy knew what he was doing was attempting to cash in on lazy players and circumvent game play. He played with fire and knew it. And he got burnt. I have no sympathy at all. |

An MMORPG of Warhammer 40k would be HOT, but I dont see how they could make a game about individual soldiers. Maybe if each person commanded an army. You start out as scouts and work your way up to a large force. Or maybe individuals would have to team up to form sqauds and then go battle against enemy forces. |

According to mmogchart.com, AO had a peak of 60,000 subscribers shortly after its launch in 2001. By 2002, it had plummeted to only 10,000 subscribers. Since then, it has gone up and down, but never came close to the peak numbers. In comparison, Mythic’s Dark Age of Camelot (DAoC) had a peak of 250,000 shortly after its launch in 2002 and maintained good numbers for the next several years. Even now, it has decent numbers for such an old game. There is some question over the validity of the numbers provided by mmogchart.com, but even if the actual numbers are incorrect, looking at ballpark figures still shows a very clear difference. Mythic knows how to get people to subscribe and keep them happy for years. Obviously, Blizzard knows exactly what they are doing. Based on Funcom’s history, it’s hard to say the same for Funcom.

An MMORPG with less 200k subscribers is not a failure. That's plenty of people to play with. Server merge is just needed. |

This patch doesn't save the game because after all the fluff it doesn't really adds that much. Sure you can level up your PVP dark side, but you are competing for 1 class set, which will make you IDENTICAL to every other player of your class with the full set. Of course they will introduce more sets, but right now is 1 per class. How can you brag when eventually everyone will get to PVP rank 5 and have your identical gear? Yes, you can go as up as PVP rank 10, but there's nothing to get right now after 5 so no one can tell the difference between a Player of PVP level 5 and a level 10 (cap). What this game needs is:

Prophecies has the slowest pacing which allows you to learn to use your abilities over time. Factions has the fastest increase in power but also has the shortest campaign |

Funcom should've done more research into what gamers really want out of an MMO and they should have delivered. I bet Blizzard would've delayed the game another year just to polish everything and give it that extra needed edge. |

Yeah, good assessments of WAR's prospects based on what I've seen. I think, based on the kind of grip good world PvP has on people, they'll capture a lot of players who just want WoW with better PvP. Add some casual players who like the PQs and the smaller winged dungeons, some of the folks who want WoW without the ZOMGESPORTS and a smattering of Warhammer TT freaks, and they're good to go. I don't know though, I think there may be more casuals who have spent War might sell a million or two, but I doubt they'll break old EQ level subs of 4-5 hundred K after launch settles out. I think Mythic should be happy with that, though - they're a fairly small company and $7 Mil a month in sub fees is nothing to scoff at. |

I don't think anyone is disputing the massive failure that is AoC, hopefully WAR will learn from their mistakes and give us real PvP oriented MMO. |

The share price did indeed get inflated due to hype and expectations for the AoC launch, but I think it's telling enough to see the fall. We should see things stabilize as low or lower than before the AoC launch hype, and no change (other than the loss of customer goodwill) is a bad thing, given the scale of the development efforts on this title. When it comes to subscriptions, I have a hard time seeing how they can do anything but drop a good deal further. WoW opened the eyes of millions to the MMO genre, and the marketing buzz around Age of Conan was pretty big. Many bought in, most were dramatically disappointed... the word of mouth referrals should be tiny as a result. Hard to make truly educated guesses about the cost of running the game vs. subscription income -- I don't imagine those items are broken out individual on financial reports |

If they pump AoC full of content within the next few months, Ill think about it. I knew I likely would only play it until WAR came out and I had a craving for Guild Wars again. But I will wait 2-3 months and see what there have happent. |
