@TedDanson:
Please do not confuse two issues: The fact that WOW (as shallow at it may be) feels alive, while VG is feeling barren and sterile. It's like saying that apples may be red, but roses have thorns.

I think that the only reason this got posted here is that the original poster did not have the guts to post it in the VG forums, something so one sided and fanboish would have gotten a ton of flamy responses in there, from people that feel they have wasted $50 to play beta 6 of Vanguard.

Does the game have potential? Hell yes, but so does every single kid you in the street, and how many of those grow up to be presidents/artists/geniuses?
That being said, I do hope that they menage to fix and polish the game soon, before the current state of the 'product' ruins VG's (and Sigil's) reputation for ever.

Also calling this "The most accurate and fair review" is just... beyond my comprehension. I never imagined that anyone could be this delusional.

Even tough a bit pointless (going down the memory line does that to one, I know), it was a nice post. :)

I am a gamer, playing both normal games and online ones, and Vanguard is the only game/program I have stability problems with. And yes, I have run both scandisk and defrag on the hd (raid array actually) with Vanguard, updated drivers and directx, and it didn't help.

Ahh. Finally some with Vanguard experiences like mine! What drove me from Vanguard was the stability, I do not mind thing being hard (actually the supposed hardness was what peaked my interest in the first place), but they should be hard trough gameplay and not trough buggy client that hangs up, lags you into mobs/falls/etc. I have played early betas of other mmos that were more stable then this game. And yes, I do know the game was rushed, and I did know it when I bought it, I expected bugs, placeholders for final content, not optimized code... What I have gotten on top of all that is an atrocious client that not only provides horrid performance, but also will not let me play for more then 30min without hanging or sending me to login screen - every time I chunk there is (and I swear, I am not exaggerating) 50% chance of a crash, every bloody time.
I am surprised that the developers dared to sign their names on the final 'product'.

Vanboys unite! Open your eyes, this whole show is but a large scale conspiracy.

All the whiners, all the leavers, all of these people, they are ninja associates of Blizzard, who are shaking in their boots, with their empire being threatened! VG IS the best game ever developed, it already has 300k subs, no doubt (no, not characters!!!! SUBS!!! -- don't believe the lies!). When seeing that making phoney accounts to rate VG a 1 had little effect over us diehard blind fans, these WoW addicts decided they had to push the envelope, go further in achieving their life purpose, they bought VG, just so they can cancel their accounts.

It is all a conspiracy! And if anything actually is faulty with VG, it's all because of SOE, yup, not because of the talented professional and all original developer team, lead by BradMan himself, the greatest developer in history.

Keep up the good fight, fellow Vanboys! We are the greatest!
You know, it was worth paying the $50, getting frustrated for 3 weeks, just to read and totally get this post!
Thank you, sir!

I am 100% behind original poster (Drumwiz) and Olaus, I have canceled my subscription earlier today even though I do like the game, however I do refuse to pay to play something that is perhaps 80% finished (and don't even get me started on SOE or lack of centralized forums). This game has some serious issues and it finally got too much for me. Just like Olaus I strongly doubt that I will return to Vanguard.

If you are one of the people that enjoy Vanguard, good luck to you, and I do hope that Sigil does their job at quick polishing the game.

Peace out

Try asking in the official vanguard forums. Oh wait... They don't have any official forums. Ooops!

As far as I understand both WoW and GuildWars support both point and click and WSAD, I don't see why all/most MMOs couldn't adopt that solution and keep everyone happy. Personally I have disliked every and single one MMO that didn't allow me for WSAD movement.

And while on the subject of controls, what is it with all (that I have seen) Asian MMOs not allowing you to redefine keys? How hard can that be to code?

It is really hard to tell before I have tried them both, both AoC and WAR look promising and innovative (both in their own ways). I have been following both closely and the way things are looking at the moment, I will pick up both, play them a some, compare and decide (and cancel the other subscription).

Acclaim has no idea what they are doing anymore. Look at what games they are licensing in the mmorpg-market & you will notice a trend.

Edit for clarification:
Acclaim = old company with lots of assets.
PW = new company that thought mmorpg:s where easy money.

Further clarification (snippet from wiki):
Acclaim Games, based in Beverly Hills, California, is a private online video game company that offers free MMORPG games on its website upon registration. The company was founded in 2006 and is the successor of Acclaim Entertainment in terms of brand name. After Acclaim Entertainment filed for bankruptcy, former Activision CEO Howard Marks purchased the "Acclaim" name in August 2005 for $100,000 USD. He, along with Neil Malhotra, created a new company, naming it "Acclaim Games" and taking a totally different path from the previous company.

So the Acclaim you think about has nothing to do with this one, other then they are sharing same logo. Do not be fooled by the brand name.

All that being said, there is a looooong, loooong way from (pre-open) beta to final release, be it servers, client and features. As long as Indy 21is working on the game things are progressing as they should.

This portion of internet is called a 'Forum' (forum = a discussion board on the Internet, according to wikipedia), which means that people come here and present their views. You may agree with some, and you may disagree with some others. Learn to live with it.

I am pretty sure that all of us that posted in this thread, mourn PW yet at the same time agree that Acclaim servers (as much as they need work), are better then no servers at all.

Just because the game is in *insert ridiculously big letters here* Pre-Open-Beta *end of ridiculously big letters* does not mean that we should all collectively shut up and pretend that everything is 100% nice and dandy. As long as people elaborate their views beyond 'this is teh sukzor' let them post, post counter arguments, just refrain from meaningless spamming (and abuse of text sizes).

Also a personal peeve of mine: just because you add 'I'm not flaming just trying to be the voice of reason' somewhere in your post, it does not automatically mean that you haven't done just that.

Coming from PW servers myself, I do share the feeling that Acclaim servers are lacking. Both in stability and community, while I absolutely loved the game on PW server, a week of Acclaim made me quit the game for good. For all you people still playing lets hope that they do improve over the Beta period.

You know, I agree once again. PW server seemed less crowded, yet people were more chatty and helpful. Plus finding people that can communicate in comprehensible english on Acclaim server is rather hard (was for me at least, when I was playing).
