Playing a melee is great in AoC with the combat system....I could never go back to auto attack either.

I liked Vanguard for a couple of months; but it got boring fast. I'll tell ya one thing - playing a ranger has been a heck of a lot more fun in AoC than Vanguard. The combat and animations are far superior.

Vanguard was basically travel travel travel grind grind and repeat.

No sympathy here; repeated spawn campers are losers. Sure its no big deal to f*k someone around a few times; but it sounds like you  were camping his spawn for a long time. So it sounds like you got what you deserved.

Umm what exactly did they misrepresent?  Lots of complaining in that post and no facts.

I'm pretty sure you can't, and need to freshly install the retail client.

Its a great game; best since EQ for sure. I'm not a fan of instancing but it seems ok in this game. Otherwise the graphics and combat are great; quests pretty decent....pvp is fun.  Funcom has done a great job.

I call BS on this one. Heck I even made a PK alt on Bluesteel who just runs around ganking, and I still haven't seen any trash talk.

After the 1 1/2 day early access this is getting to be a bit much!

I could swear they were going to put a timer on zoning so that you would be invulnerable the first few seconds after zoning in....

This EA sure comes with lots of downtime. Was looking forward to playing tonight..oh well.

Great game, great release. I've been looking for the next best game since EQ... Wow - lol no; EQ2 was pretty lame...Vanguard was just boring after a while...but this looks like it may be the one!

I guess they're really going for performance with  the default settings. Then those with strong systems can set shaders to 3.0 and bloom ON.  Seems like a good strat - helps keep the newbs from whining, and allows people with high end systems to get the most out of it.

I see...I'm assuming 3.0 will look better?

I switched to DX10 and it set my shader model to 2...very strange. I set it back to 3.0; but does anyone have any idea why the default would be 2? Should I put it back to 3 with a 8800GT?

Many people are craving for something more, and I think AoC will be it. But I'm sure that little kids and people with crappy pcs will keep WoW strong

Just played them for 5 or 6 levels; but noticed that Barb can use bows and Conq can't.

If I was a mod here I'd lock all these lame threads and allow one official 'WAH I didn't register in time for early access" thread.

Kinda lame? Yeah..but really...enough of this Sh!t....its THREE DAYS...deal with it.

Considering that a geforce 8800GT isn't much more than $150, same for a fast core 2 duo.....I don't think the requirements are too out of line.

With those two components and a recent hard drive, the game runs fine on High with 2 megs ram.
