Whoever says that WAR has better graphics than LOTRO has obviously never experienced the hight-textures, DX10 side of LOTRO. There is really no comparison between the two and I doubt WAR will reach that level of scenery and atmosphere, unless they too implement DX10. That being said, it's totally understandable. Those two gaims have different goals and are targetted towards different audience. I'm sure the choices they made regarding this issue reflect this reality. |

To templarga: You forgot to mention Aion, although I don't think they will release it inside 2008. Probably early 2009. |

This topic pops up in every MMO that is about to get released. The more popular the game, the more chances to find people that will annoy you. Beta free ride (aka no commitment) makes things much worse. |

I would advice everyone to wait until release before passing judgement. Oh, and people should make their own minds instead of relying on unreliable sources. |

Both. If I have to choose, there is something wrong with the available market choices. |

How much was the price for the boxed version (including early start and any other bonuses?) How much is the price of the boxed version with no plusses?
If those two boxes worth the same, then the person above is right and you did not pay for the bonuses. If it's not, then you are right and you did pay for them. |

This game should in theory have a reception equal to what LOTRO has. Instead, it had the initial momentum of WoW, with the difference that at some point it hit a brick wall. So, there was something unnatural happening there. In my opinion this happened both because the market is starving for somehting new (aka good timing for release) and the marketing from the side of the company. Bottom line, the necessary balance was missing and these are the results. There are reasons why the riotting crowd is bigger than anything witnessed before. For one, the expectations were too high. The company capitalised upon those expectations, creating even more. The exact same thing is about to happen with WAR, only this time it will be worse. Now the disgrunded ex-AoC crowd will have even higher expectations from WAR than it did when it approached AoC. You can already see it in various threads, where people hyping themselves by expecting WAR to be the perfect game AoC didn't manage to be. That's why I fear that the crowd waiting for WAR will again raise the pitch forks. WAR beta testers claim that WAR is good, but it's also different than what people are primed to expect. Thing is, people need to take two steps back and evaluate the products given to them not upon the merits that are expecting them to have but on the merits that they actually have when they get released. What's in the box is always more important that what was promised to be in the box. |

AoC is dead argument: As much as some people want it, I doubt AoC will die any time soon. Or Funcom for that matter. This is a company that was kept alive for the most part by AO, which is a minisqule game compared to the giant MMOs of today. AoC doesn't seem that it will ever be what it could have been, but it won't die. Everyone has quit: An over exageration at best. Given the content that was presented, the initial sales was just a bubble primed to burst. And it did burst. Some people act so surprised, it's hilarious. Eventually the subscription numbers will stabilise to what the game can sustain given the current content. It won't be anywhere near the initial subscription numbers, but on the other hand, everyone has definitely not quit. Forums are mayhem: I would say one thing. Better to at least have forums where the pitchfork crowd roams about, than have no forums at all. As for the forums themselves, it all depends on the usage. Some people are just content wth frustration vending. Others are looking for community bonding and some for game info and ideas. What do you think a normal player (not ex player) would want forums to work as a primary function?
Having said all that, I'm one of the crowd that stopped the subscription when I realised that one of "my" key features would not be implemented any time soon. I did not join however the pitchfork crowd, because I did what I was advising people back when AoC was still in beta phase. I had and have a fall-back MMO plus other activities that keep me occuppied and content. AoC didn't meet my expectations, I was prepared for the posibility. Two months from now the pitchfork crowd will move to WAR and all this nonsense will start all over again. And people forget today and praise LOTRO for the updates, but back during the launch, the pitchfork crowd was crying murder for the lack of content past a certain level. It's like a never ending circle for the short span memory people. |

Would you find it weird if posts resorting to personal attacks and insults disappear? I personally call it good moderation. |

I really don't see what the OP is talking about. Am I blind or he sees things that are not there? What I'm trying to say is that I haven't noticed a change in how these forums operate. The only visible difference is the name of the game that is smacked the most. It seems that the game is currently AoC. Give it a couple months and the tides of hate will shift to a fresh target. |

I read through all this thread to find information about graphics (yes, I know, silly me), but I found none. Who derailed the whole thing to a discussion on the merits and flaws of PvP? |

To the OP: Your post may apply to people with English as their mother tongue, but doesn't apply to everyone on the internet. In this multilingual and multicultural environment, certain things can be forgiven in the name of communication. |

AoC has launched and certain issues, especially in the end game, are yet to be addressed. While the game had a decent launch, compared to the MMOs history, it's still has a long way to go in order to reach today's MMOs standards. Overall, a game with potential, albeit still not fulfilled. For now, the game seems to lose it's initial very big momentum, fast. WAR is in the state of hope and expectations. Nothing more can be said for a game that haven't launched yet (don't have first hand beta experience either). |

To patrikd23: I don't know if you realise that non native English speaking people are reading these forums (me being one of them). While your writing style may seem cool to you, it's making our communication (that's the primary function of a forum after all) harder than it can be. These type errors are of course minor, just more noticeable being headings of the original post. The post was without a doubt a good one. Ah, and before I forget about it, waving the forum troll flag is pointless if you don't have a clue about what constitutes a forum troll in the first place. |

These typos are minor, so it's no big deal: customisation can be written both ways barbAr should be changed to barbEr night should be changed to Knight other than that, great post. |
