If official patch notes are not enough ...

People who like the game confirm the fix ...

People who hate the game are silent ...

I'm not sure that there is anything left besides experiencing it for yourself.

MMOs will keep on adding features in the game (the healthy MMOs do anyway). With every line of code they add, they add potential problems and bugs. It's not only about the bugs at release. It's not only about this game. Ban the exploiters. Case closed.

With no beta stage whatsoever? Right.

I started my previous answer with "My issue ...".

There are tons of people posting on these forums. I do not take either credit or blame for the word of others.

My issue is about treating Darkfall as if it is a released game. Thus as if comparing two released games feature to feature. This is not the case. One game is released, the other is is early development (some claim that it's not developed at all, but I won't go as far just yet).

What is currently released is what we can currently enjoy. Hype is ok I guess, but in the end of the day when I get back from work, I want to play something. Not to think about what features a game might have if and when it's going to be released. For all intents and purposes, all games in development fall under the same category as Darkfall. Interesting to learn development news from time to time, but I want to play something now.

To WuM1nG:

NCsoft is a lot harsher. If you abuse a bug, no matter how small, you're parma banned. Perma-banned accounts are never reinstated, no matter the reason. Even if they banned by mistake, the account is gone (I don't heard of a case of them making a mistake however).

This is the only way to keep the player field level in a PvP game. Zero tolerance for cheaters and abusers. If you're unsure whether something is a bug, DON'T use or risk loosing the account permanently.

To WuM1nG:

That particular exploit was very much distinguisable. No excuses there. People exploited and were fully aware that they were doing it.

To fix bugs you need programmers. You don't need such an experienced personnel to run through logs and investigate cases of abuse. Besides, companies usually have different departments, each with an individual role. People should be glad Funcom is not NCsoft.

Nothing much. Just a rand from a self-proclaimed saviour. They pop up from time to time.

I've been deleting all my characters that don't manage to not die before reaching level 20 in LOTRO. Does that count?

To Zorndorf:

In this case it has more to do with what it does to the market in term of choices and variation.

I'm happy for you Zorndorf. You kind of remind my enthusiasm just before the first expansion. Too bad the implementation didn't work (for me) as well as I thought it would.

Comparing with WoW is not a fair comparison. I'm sure UO performs better than WoW in really old machines. That doesn't mean that companies should be making games with 4 or 10 year old engines, just so they can milk cash out of as much people as possible.

If anything, people should be looking for upgrades in every aspect of a game (I always consider gameplay a given).

I'm not sure what the OP is talking about. WoW has always been the most bashed game on these forums, for one reason or the other. This only recently stopped, since a new game got released, so the haters moved there for now. They will return for a while again, until something else gets released again.

If you played the game in the past and you're considering going back, you'll probably find the familiar gameplay in place. Most of the population however has moved to the Outland, thus the original world is a tad barren. But that's understandable.

The best time to rejoin will probably be sometime before the next expansion is released. Then you will have the time to start a fresh character and catch up everyone else at level 70 going to 80. That should be sometime after summer, depending on your game-time and whether Blizzard will delay the expansion or not.

I wouldn't hold my breath about the game holding the 400.000+ initial subscriptions. It has a good momentum but more than half of them bought the game out of curiosity or boredom and will not be subscribing further than that first month.

The game will probably hold 1/3 the initial player base and if the developers keep on correcting the game and adding content, it'll grow up over time.

5 hours a day is hardly casual if you have a day job. It's actually pretty hardcore.

Assuming you work 8 hours per day ...

... you sleep 6 hours and it takes another 2 hours for going back and forth from work, eat, bathe, go to toilet etc ...

... that leaves 8 hours of free time per day. If you spend 5 of them in an MMO, you're spending 65% of your free time online. A real casual wouldn't be spending more than 20% (I'm generous), which amounts to roughly 1.5 hours per day. In fact a casual wouldn't have every day available for gaming.

OP, you fail to realise one thing. Darkfall is not out in any shape or form (relased, closed or open beta).

"has been designed" - the game is not out, hence it is designed and is still undergoing design changes, being in alpha phase and all (if we want to be nice and actually believe that it's been developed).

"has no levels" - you mean it will have no levels, because currently it has nothing but a developer's wish list.

Comparing a released game with an internet wish list is hilarious. I hope you don't see this as a sort of an attack, but more as a reality check. I would have liked to see Darkfall getting released, but until it does, it's nothing more than a list of things. Anyone can open a word processor and compose a list of cool things, implementation is what matters.

Edit: I checked to see if I was nitpicking at your English, but it seems you shouldn't have issues articulating your thoughts in your native tongue.

From an outsider's point of view, Mythic has more to hide by depriving the players from the option. This is why I find it inconsistent. I just mention Funcom because the discussion is more recent. It could have been SWG forums or any other forums closed to non-subscribers, temporary or permanently.

To krackajap:

That might work better. But then you're effectively doubling all keys necessary to perform the combos. In the original system you only needed to activate the original combo and then just the directional buttons. People will start learning the directional sequence by heart at some point, so the extra key for programming,  both minimises the gain and makes you totally dependant on the hardware to play the game.

Lets say you work in a RL bank and you find a loophole in the security system that allows you to draw money. I want to see how somebody would justify a theft like this to a judge. "It wasn't my fault but the bank's that allowed me to take the money".

Exploiting in the game is hardly as severe as stealing a bank. Thus you usually just lose your account when performing such acts. Trying to justify the exploit by claiming it was the company's fault is as hilarious as trying to justify the theft in the example above.

The principles and morals behind those two examples are the same. The scale is just different.

Adult does not equal maturity and the community is what you make of it. Like minded people are usually attracted to each other.

Personally, I always deactivate general channels in all the games I play, including LOTRO's RP server.
