The SOE patcher is very good for the most part, much better than WoWs. Just sounds like you have a lot of content to download.

The PS3 will use a keyboard and mouse. It's very useful for the web browser and is required if you want to install Linux on it.

The only chances to save Vanguard is to fix the fucking performances issues which keep "core" players away (It s not the game itself).

For the most part, I have to agree with this. Putting XP back on my machine helped a lot but as soon as things get busy. *pop* I'm back to 10FPS. Why would I play Vanguard when I can run EQ2 on close to full settings if they then make Vanguard like EQ2? There is no logic in that.

Although I do think this probably the new MMORPG crowed have with getting to the high levels is just plain stupid and missing most of the point of A MMORPG.

Ok, so I am getting a new computer soon, and one of the MMOs that I will be looking at is Vanguard, but before I make investments into the game I would like to ask a few questions.

1.  How bad is the bug problem?  Will I still be able to play even though I have a great computer system?

In all honesty, until performance is fixed I can't play. Sure I can put the GFX on low when things get busy but why should I have to keep doing that? Until that's fixed I'll stick with EQ2, I love the game and I can run it on close to full settings. Vanguard has massive potential and I really think SOE are the ones to fix it, given how much better EQ2 is these days.

now what's with the game companys these days there all signing up with soe

Have you read whats on the Flying Labs site? Seriously, why cry over the fact that FL got excactly what they were looking for in a publisher ......

Look at Vanguard's first announcement below.  It looks the same.  The future of PoTBS will be the same as Vanguard.  It is sad that PC gaming is having so many failures.  We will all be playing on the XBox and PS3 only soon.

Vanguard was in trouble from the start, I even said so myself and said I expected SOE to take over the running of the game. And thank GODS that they have, without SOE there wouldn't be a game at all. And if PC gaming dies you'll have one company to blame, Microsoft. They are sucking the life out of PC gaming.

I think you will find the anti SOE crowd are a significant number and growing for good reason. SOE has screwed a lot of players not just in SWG. They repeatedly show a lack of respect for their playerbase in numerous games. Because of what happened with Vanguard, the promises of no direct control by SOE which proved to be false,

No offence here but that's rubbish. Without SOE there would be NO Vanguard anymore. The also give me massive respect to me as a player with EQ2, they CLEARLY listen to the player base. SOE learnt from SWG, get over it.

I was never much of a SOE fan, they screwed up with SWG and yet I got so sick of all this SOE hate I decided to try EQ2 and it's wonderful. I'm now so sick of all this (BADLY informed to the point of lying to prove points) SOE hate that I will now go out of my way to support both Pirates AND Gods just because I will be able to add them to my SOE account. I had very little interest in both of these titles until this thread.

all this shows is a huge lack of caring or consideration for followers of your game and product. I for one  boycott this game and any further made by you sellouts.=SOE

Wow.  I don't think I've ever wanted to say this to a potential fan/customer on a public message board before, but now I do:

Buh-bye. I'd like to say I'll miss having you try my game, but... after that post, I won't.  I'm glad you won't be playing.

I'm so very very sick and tired of the SOE haters who have zero idea of the facts to the point where I've now started to welcome games signing with them. I never thought I'd say this either after seeing a designer post something like that but I'm SO glad that you've said that.

You have basically terminated any chance for 75% of mmorpg player base to try your game.

I think you vastly overestimate the anti-SOE crowd. Just because a lot of people on MMORPG.com and similar sites are like this.... they only represent a fraction of the MMO community.

Don't waste your time with them mate, they don't listen. The SOE haters really do think that everyone else thinks like them, the fact of the matter is the moaners are always the loudest on forums and the people that just want to play games and enjoy themselves don't bother for the most part. The FACT of the matter is that it's costing more and more money to get a game out there these days and SOE are going to help them do that, the FACT of the matter is that without SOE Vanguard really would be dead!

What ever makes you sleep better at night. Once the game is released, we will see who laughs last

WTF are you talking about? The last laugh!? Grow up, when are you SOE haters going to get it, no one else cares. We're just here to play games, I'll play the game if I like playing it, if I don't I won't. Do you think ALL those people playing EQ2 care about Sony and what you think of them?! How about the billions of people all over the world buying Sony products from batteries to DVDs, do you think THEY care about your views on Sony? There are 1000s of things more important than what SOE did with SWG and it's a perfect example of how stupid the world is when we're willing to moan and moan and moan about a game and what Sony did to it but then happily spend money with a Nike or Microsoft having zero clue as to what they get up to.

...I mean, can you name one sucsessful Sci-Fi book, show, movie or anything at all where 95% of it is just "Wee! I'm flying through space! Look at me going from one planet to another, breifly stoping, and then going back again!"?

...

*dies laughing*

Ummm.....

The entire Star Trek Franchise, short of DS9, for one.

Not really, they wouldn't go back around, they would go on forwards. Sometimes going back but for the most part moving on to new planets that we'd not seen before.

This is kinda sums up why the haters need to stay out of the Vanguard/DDO etc etc forums. Each to their own.

I honestly think only one game is looking like it will move anything forward, just off the top of my head and that's Heroes Journey.

...don't get me wrong, I'm just making a view not stating fact but I feel like I can't be a two axe carrying 'zerker because I'm told by other players that I have to be one handed and shield. I can't be staff Bruiser because I'm told that I'm gimped unless I go unarmed in the beginning. I could just be being badly informed of course, or just getting it wrong myself but this is how I feel with EQ2 sometimes and why I don't feel I can stick with a class much past level 10.

Honestly, am I the only person that thinks that under it all EVE and WoW are for the most part really just the same and if anything THAT'S the problem with MMORPGs. We're getting nothing new.

I loved the early EQ2 style of advance. I remember rolling new characters, both warrior and scout and kinda working my way though wondering what I'd go for as I moved along.

You're probably using Firefox or something on a Mac or Linux machine?

As for EQ2, it's funny but I get problems with that as well. I've never been able to get much out of it. I'm happy to except that something needs to be done with my machine but I have no idea what, I've used gaming PCs all my life and I'm studying a masters in Robotics so it's not like I'm an utter noob at this.

Balanced, high or low isnt the answer. It took me quite a while to find "my" optimum settings. Example: Shadow drops a true silhouette at 21%. No need to turn it higher ever.

I'd noticed that myself, you can play with it a lot and get a good look and good performance.
