A mature rating mean that content can be added to suit the game based on the lore. That in its own right can be hyped up. Your going to find content you wont see in other mmorpg's. I wouldn't want to play a game based on the lore if it had the same rating as a Disney game, because I would know it wouldn't have what I would expect. It wouldn't have the grim, gruesome, bloody appeal. Having a mature rating will fully justify the I.P. that is Conan anything less without the content will be a failure.

Talking about the game having a mature rating in regard to having mature players is ignorant especially since the the only way to judge that for yourself is to play with the game for yourself. Having a scope of the playerbase can however be semi judged from the official forum community, which on the whole I have to say is pleasing.

Two different viewpoints.

FYI I updated my initial post with the higher-rez Gamespot footage direct link. It's not the best quality, but it's a great demonstration. I cant see how anyone (besides the few forum trolls we have here,) cant be impressed by what we see here.

I read the gamespy, ign, gamespot hands on.Without getting into the outcome, they were basically all very controlled 1-4 player ,under level 60,pve features that they were allowed access to.Has there been any 1v1 or 2v2 pvp previewed by any media source? If so can you hook us up with a link please?

It's not from a media source, but here's a video showing some PvPing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEndk3fElu4

That clip shows a Beta build nearly a year old, the directional attack rose is different now.

I would just be patient and wait for it to come. It not like its not going to be in the game! People these days are all selfish its the me, me, me, I want, I want, I want generation....

No PvP yet to the like of what your asking, wait 3 weeks or so for an expected showing in Germany.

This is the official viewpoint on what was shown at E3 this year:

What new stuff we showed at this year's E3 was basically:

1. We played the Barbarian, the Scion of Set and the Necromancer.
2. We demonstrated the pet system, with melee pets and caster pets.
3. We showed an outdoor area never shown "in-game" before: Atzel's Approach.
4. We showed the first dungeon shown: The Black Ring Citadel.
5. We showed boss fights in the Black Ring Citadel dungeon.
6. We talked about raids and the size of raids in Age of Conan.
7. We demonstrated the NPC conflict in Conall's Valley with a triggered invasion.
8. We demonstrated new spells and combos for all three classes.
9. We showed the magic cone and explained how it worked.

Our focus for this year's E3 was really to show how the basic MMO gameplay works in Age of Conan, the dynamic between the three classes and to reveal a dungeon for the first time. We did not go for the more large-scale content like city-building and sieging -- and that was quite intentional. There is another huge convention coming up in August and we're gearing up for that as well (though I do not want to promise anything on what we will be showing there).

We're looking forward to reveal even more soon.

The format for this year's E3 was very different from previous years, with less press passing through as the Age of Conan area was placed in an "invitation only" section in one of the hotels. That's what the majority of the developers did for their games and that's why you're going to see less coverage this year. This is most likely the reason why there were few huge announcements or reveals this year overall.

So I never saw quite a few of those points from the 2 media companies that have shown footage so far. Maybe there is something else to come - I don't know.

Age of Conan: Santa Monican Adventures hands on Euro Gamer write up and links to other reports.

Aoc Audio  20 odd mins from a fan who wasn't allowed to video tape so he went audio.

As its the weekend expect more stuff to come in next week.

Hard to tell but it looked to me as if you have to press a button every 1.5 seconds or so.  This worked well in PSO/PSU.  This game is not PSO/PSU.

This combat system will be repetitive and you will get tired of it faster than your "normal" mmo combat system.

I'm speculating of course, but I have played PSO for almost 2 years and played enough of PSU (they made longer combos and different combos based on different weapons in PSU) to have at least some basis for this speculation.

As to what you said Peenk - don't you click the skill bar in other mmo's every 1.5 secs or quicker in other games during a fight? Don't you find that repetitive?

By the want its not fricken button pressing all the time you can click or move the mouse over the "combat rose" to achieve the same thing. Funny how you can look into your mystic ball and say people will get tired of it quicker than a normal mmo - thanks for your heavenly insight but i'll try it for myself thanks. There is nothing more repetitive than games out there that make you click skill 1,2,1,4,1,6,5,3 etc, AoC takes a fresh approach to a stale over used approach.

Well they also said that AoC's world will be 185 Square Miles which more or less confirms what was said earlier - compared to WoW's size of about 80 Square Miles. But these are square miles full of features and things to do. So spending - if your mr/mrs  average playing 900 hours -3 hrs per day - or 300 days - or 43 weeks - or 10 months or whatever there will be plenty of content to fill your time up.

Its not cockiness its what the indstry thinks, the makers of tabula rasa have said the same time too.

Of course there will always be expansions and new content to keep you going, this is an mmo afterall/

Do you have a link to the HoX video please?

Personally I think with the popularity of Assassins, Im going to go Druid of the Storm / Stormcaller, their lvl 80 spell looks like it will slow them down alot. The class looks fun to play too. Just wish there was more info out there on them like in a vid or some good screenshots.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ZSUZexnBxQ

HoX at 0:48

Necro at 1:15

Actually according to the devs that :48 is a Demonologist fully along his path of corruption. HoX should look even sweeter ins his fully corrupt, lvl 80 Demonic form. :D

All players actually begin to look different apparently depending upon if they follow the light or dark path. We haven't really seen a visual cue as to what the 'fully light' path character might look like though. But the corruption path is just so much cooler anyway. :D

As to the Necro pet. We now know that there is an 8pt pet system, with different pets costing more points. In the E3 Gamespot footage we see the skeletal scorpions, 8 of them, clearly the 'newbie Necromancer lvl 20 pet' which at level 80, with 8 points, you can call 8. I'd assume that the zombie guy called at the end of that video is probably the 4, maybe 6pt necro pet. I cant wait to see what the 8pt full on necro badarsed pet will look like. :D Let alone all the Demonologist pets.

Yea wouldnt mind seeing a fully fledged HoX but mainly some Druid footage or in game pics

Hi there.

Personally, first I'd buy another 1gb of RAM they are pretty dirt cheap at the moment, then I would try and look to buy an nVidia 8800 GTS the 320MB version. Depending on what your motherboard supports I would look lastly for a dual core chip as an upgrade.

But if i was you i'd go:

1. another 1gb of ram

2. An 8800 GTS 320mb if not an 8600 GTS

3. possible chip upgrade to dual core.

I am currently low on money due to school books and some other expenses so i cant really dish out money for a top of the line card. Before any suggestions heres what im currently running (mind you its not the best or anywhere near it but it does run Oblivion):

Windows Media Center 2005 PC

Pentium IV 3.0 ghz HT

2g Ram

radeon x300 express

Those should be the most relevant specs.

What i am looking for is a card under 200 dollars ATI/Nvidia (plz suggest one of each i dont really go for the idea that one brand is the best period)

I wont be able to buy a better PC untill well into next year so for now this is the best i can do, so plz give me any suggestions which could help me out TY.

By any chance is your PC a Dell?

Here is the link to the Video shown at 4pm PST, I think the animations looked just fine and what I would expect from a game at this stage of development. The dungeon and monsters looked awesome.

Ahhh well I think if you watch it when it gets put up, your views on the game engine will fly pretty much out of the window.

Actually over 15 media types - magazines/website companies have had their hands on the game, in a testing way over the last 2 months.

Gamespot are still sorting out their videos from this afternoon and the next one to be done is the AoC one I strongly recommend you watch it and listen to the new information told when its available:

http://e3.gamespot.com/live.html?tag=event_nav;live

Considering you put this post up about the showing at E3 and yet I doubt you have seen any footage from E3 - in a hands on way yet.

The IGN one wasn't because they ran out of time and had old media shown over an interview.

The Gamespot one was spot on.

Unless you was there in person? I fail to see how it failed you from E3. It looks like your a little pre-emtive in your assumptions. They also said around 3000 people per server, thats quite a statement from a company who things latency for that many wont be an issue.

Anyway, I'll put a link to the gamespot video in the AoC section unless someone else does it first when its up.

Btw, the sliding isnt like you have seen before, spot on animations - proper running - not like before, weapon motions for the polearm perfect (weight 2 swing ratio) and an awesome preview of a high end dungeon.

who are you? you must work for AoC because I see you do nothing but religiously defend this game when someone even remotely says anything bad about it.    the game is not even out yet, and people are talking like they've been playing it for years.

im rooting for this game because I would like a really good MMO to play..  but im not buying into ANYTHING until I play it.. i seem to remember anarchy online's launch, probably the only launch that was actually worse than vanguard and it was funcom...I actually think they INVENTED the memory leak.. lol, j/k..  but people seem to erase that out of history, or maybe that's just the wow group who have never played MMOs until wow came along.

Actually my friend SickPup joined the the guild im in a while ago, he doesn't wear the tag, so if he was to put a post up like he did I felt inclined to ask him if he had seen a specific show. Direct Link Here I had some concerns for the game too but I felt what was shown and what was said in the audio file elsewhere went someway to negate those concerns. You play a game when it gets released some 40k ppl joined the official forums and prob half are already in guilds before the game comes out.

And no I dont work for AoC, I just like to think im well informed, especially as it will be a game I will be playing for a long time. Eg. 3 yrs = about $700 I like to know what im getting into, but not blindly of course. Can I not defend a game or put my point of view across?

Audio report from E3 from a fan for AoC.

 http://www.serpents-guild.com/~zeiroe/aocaudio.mp3

22 mins long,

One Raid dungeon will take 2 - 4 hours

There will be a FFA PVP server, Normal, RP servers

4 tiers to PvP, lower lvls can still play with higher ones.

Master / Apprentice System

Release date still set for October 30th 2007

If you don't like raiding and say just PvP you can create PvP gear just as good for PvP, you don't need to go raid to get best items.

GC in Germany coming soon they will be showing Seiges!

Castle cannot be attacked without you taking up a challenge, but there will be certain time aspects and mechanics to that too, so if you say no to the challenge, too long, in the end you will need to.

More Open Beta Style to come soon over the summer.

Other goodies he does say will have to find out yourself!

Yes it was quite suprising how much content and improvements in Beta Turbine added in towards the end in LotRO. I hope for something similar with Funcom, never doubted they know what they are doing either, that said, I don't expect the game to be perfect from the get-go.  Nice preview though =)

Just I had a bad feeling.

Yes but I think your title is way wrong for the thread, and completly misleads people. You really think the game would be dead in a few months? come on.....!

Because the game is foremost a PC game it will never have any problemswith expansions, XboX players will just have to do the same as PC players. No issue, No problem.

You know a mid size casio keyboard from say 1991, and you press the "demo" button.... well thats the equivilent of RS music. You better off tapping a ruler on your desk and humming out off tune.
