This weeks Fansite Friday edition answers the top 3 questions culled from throughout the Guild Wars community. Snippet follows:

Has there been a character wipe?

In order to implement the extensive changes mentioned above, we have had to reset existing characters and guilds. However, we have provided the ability to create level 1 and level 20 characters for this weekend, which will allow you to quickly get back into Arena and Tournament combat.

Also, I wanted to point out that resets are different than and preferable to an outright “wipe,” because you still have the placeholder character and therefore still have the name connected to your account. The reset leaves the character in place as a level 1, with professions and starting skills all ready to go.

You'll find the rest here.

The Camelot Herald has posted their Friday "Grab Bag" Q&A's.  Here's a snip:

Q: I was wondering how clustered servers will handle "Darkness Falls.” Will the clustered servers share the same DF dungeon, or will they have their own separate one? What about POC?

A: The intention is that clustered servers will share those dungeons. You know what they say about intentions, of course. But that’s our plan.

Although not yet officially announced, Gamespot is reporting the details on the first content update pack for Everquest 2.  Here's a snippet of Gamespot's article:

The first part of the adventure pack will come as a free download. All of the game's subscribers will be able to sink their swords into a new zone, fight new enemies, and so on. There will also be some new quests in this area for all players. Some of these quests will flesh out the lore behind the game's dark elf race and at least partially explain what has transpired in the 500 years that lie between the original EverQuest and EverQuest II. If players want to continue down this story path, they will have to pay what's been described as a "small fee" to download the rest of the adventure pack's content before continuing on. Players that choose not to participate will still be allowed to adventure in this new zone to experience at least some of the new content. If the idea's a hit, SOE will likely follow with more adventure packs in the same vein.

Gamespot is reporting that the legendary comic book company has filed suit against NCsoft for copyright infringement. Here is a portion of the story:

The subject of the legal action is City of Heroes, NCsoft and Cryptic's massively multiplayer online role-playing game. Marvel is claiming that the character customization functionality in City of Heroes allows players to create superheroes that closely resemble trademarked Marvel characters. According to the AP, Marvel singled out a "mutant-based" clone of X-Men member Wolverine and "a gigantic, green, 'science-based tanker'-type hero that moves and behaves nearly identically" to the Hulk.

Judith Hoffman, Executive Producer for Turbine has posted her November Producer Letter. Below is an excerpt from her article:

In many ways, role-playing games like Dungeons & Dragons are the ultimate extension of this phenomenon, which we call "shared stories." RPGs go a step further than communal book-reading or movie-watching, because the participants don't just share the experience of the story - they take the adventure provided by the DM and run with it, creating a unique shared story as they progress. The fact that these stories are created by and unique to the players gives them more ownership of the story (their story) than a group of people who are just reading the same book or watching the same movie.

Yes this is a known issue of the current forum system because it stores a lot of the forum settings in your session which follows you across instances of the same browser type.  We are currently working on a new version of the forums which is not reliant on most if not all of the current settings set in session and will let you work from multiple windows etc.

Cheers!
