BAM! DX10 PC that will max AoC(or close)

Telling someone that they gotta get sli and Vista for Dx10 is kinda retarded because both of these things are negligible imo. The difference isnt even that noticeable with current DX10 games. Crysis is the exception but most of the features can be enabled in dx9 by editing the .cfg files. I wouldnt ever buy sli unless I had extra money to trow away.

As for the OS I had this friend one time that told me he found a free copy of vista on the internet somehow. AMAZING!

Also a e8400/q6600 is gonna be future proof for a while. If that 8800 isn't cutting it down the road when games like Alan Wake come out just get a 9800gtx

If this was directed at my post, I may have fumbled over my meaning.  I didn't suggest that you absolutely have to have SLI, but having a mobo that supports it wouldn't harm anything, and more often than not, that motherboard is probably better for gaming than one that doesn't support SLI.

I forgot to mention that getting a Dx10 card for a Dx10 game and running it on XP is stupid.  Now, I do understand that there really aren't any fully optimized Dx10 games out there, so it may not be a big deal yet.

You are obviously misinformed, motherboards have little or no effect on gmaing performance when choosing a motherboard you mainly are looking for overclocking potential and generally sli boards are more expensive.

By your logic if Im running xp I should go and buy a 7900 instead of a 8xxx series card? I dont think so.

You aren't making sense.  The better board you have, the better performance you will get.  Not only the better overclocking capabilities, but outright stock performance will be better.  Otherwise, why do we continue to develop new motherboards?  By your logic, we should all have the same motherboard, because none of them are better than the other.

You didn't read past the first sentence in the second paragraph.  Good job.

If 20 more fps is worth spending a extra $500 bucks for bigger monitor, better mobo, and another video card In a game you were already gettin a decent framerate in then sure go ahead. I'll keep my single video card and $80 DS3L that will produce the same clock as you and go buy some rounds with some friends later. But yea you'll be gettin 90fps in Bioshock and I'll only be gettin 70 darn...

I'm unimpressed with the animations. Looks like they used the WoW engine but I'll still probably buy it for the content which looks plentiful.

There ain't much you can really do with animations man.  A guy swinging a big two-hander is gonna look pretty similar in any game.  There just only SO many ways to wield a sword.  Unless you want them to border on the just plain silly and make up new and dumb animations just to be different for the sake of NOT looking like WoW at all.

I'm gonna be 100% honest here, and I'm one of those that really isn't all that interested IN WAR.  You are looking at every game like it IS WoW.  The animations I've seen are just standard stuff for fantasy material.  WoW didn't "invent" any of it.  In fact, no one did.  Some crazy samurai or medieval knight invented those motions.  These game guys just make pretty pictures use em.

Now the art direction the game uses may SEEM similar to WoW.  Thats to be expected, since Warcraft was born from Warhammer roots (read up on it sometime, its almost like the Playstation/Nintendo story).  So for either company to stay true to their own current art for their IP...they would HAVE to look similar.

But discussing art and animations is dumb in my eyes.  Gameplay and core game features are what really make the whole thing tick.  On that note, WAR borrows some things from other games that have been found to be successful.  UI, for one, is a really smart thing to take from WoW.  When someone does something right, you don't just go ignoring it for the sake of being different.  Controls are another...but you can't say they took those from any one game since all the games in this genre use pretty much the same ones.

So it comes right down to features.  WAR is based around its version of RvR.  They intend for everyone to be a part of PvP from any level and still be helping the whole RvR thing.  Thats certainly a feature that isn't WoW.  Not sure if I care about it, but I can be unbiased enough to call a spade a spade.  There is also that whole...book...thing....exploration....I forget.  Nice ideal, though.  Definitely something not many other games really use.

There ya go.  Truth be told, if you aren't impressed with this game...you probably aren't impressed with MMO's anymore and really just want something different.  Its ok to be that way....I am.  I won't play this game.  I also don't expect them to win me over, and don't think its their fault for it.  I just played too many MMO's, and am ready to do something else.  They are making a pretty standard MMO, and by its own right is a pretty awesome incarnation of it.  I can't trash the game, or even suggest they have done anything wrong thus far.  I think their direction is solid, and that they will be a success so long as the gameplay is fluid and not sluggish.

Just ain't for me, and half of that is SOE's fault for making uber grindy games that killed me early on.  WoW only stole me because it removed a lot of that grind.  Once that started coming back in, eh...I moved on.

I never said I didnt like the art, I like it and I think it will be even better when they add all the graphical bells and whistles later in beta, and yes I know that warcraft stole everything from war.

But... I disagree with the whole cant swing a stick but one way defense. Most MMo's Ive played have different animation styles. Look at games like vanguard and FFXI or even SWG's melee animations. all are  different from each other and AoC will be different from all of these.

When I watched a beta video of some PvP in war I thought it was wow with a new BE. I just hope the felling isn't to reminiscent of wow( sorry I used the "W" word again)because I've been there and dont wanna do it again. But like I said in my other post It's gonna have enough content to make up for it if that's the case.

Third, a MMO with only ONE race (humans) has no standing to make jokes of whatever nature about other MMOs races. Fourth and last, a MMO RIPE with women in bikini chainmail and super buffed up squareface men has ZERO qualification to call other MMOs doings stereotypical.

Arrogance and stupidity, a deadly mix.

Hopefully they replace that guy with someone who can talk, he has more "err" "ahem" and "eh" than audible words whenever he opens his mouth. I see that guy in every damn AoC video. A real PR catastrophe that man. ><

Besides a man like him (you really should watch his other appearances) with such a horrible personal fashion sense should keep his mouth TIGH SHUT about what someone prefers to wear!

I'm not a expert on elf lore but i'm pretty sure the "elves in pink trousers" he was refering to was Blood elves in WoW

and what are you doing in WoW... siting in the city waiting for a summon to a instance. I think it will be fine if its like FFXI zones. But yea if loading screens are 2 frequent or it seem like a single player game Im sure lot of people will be turned off. We'll find out soon.

q6600 can be had for $200 at microcenter. You can also tweak these to bring the cost down. Or you could buy AMD to lower it more. I'm currently running a AMD 3600 brisbane OC'd to 2.9 with a 8800gt and I expect to run AoC at max or close to it. I can run Crysis fine.

But yea far from 2k

None.

dont join the bandwagon on these overhyped games.

Aion, TCoS, Jumpgate EVO are better games depending on what does it for you.

Take abit of your time and do some research on those, you might be surprised.

Dont throw away money on pre-orders at least until you get in open-beta or some kind of trial/demo/buddy key program.

Be smart and dont make the rich ones richer based on hype and publicity.

Pro tip: If the game is hyped it sucks !

/sarcasm off !

The problem is it can be hard for a lot of people to know the difference between generous, honest marketing from a developer that doesn't suck and dishonest hype from one who does.

Theres no such thing as Honest Marketing company's make games to sell them. The key is to research it and decide for yourself.

End-game will be tiered like wow. They said it will have 4 tiers at launch if I remember correctly. As for quests I'm sure it wont be as many as wow. The quality of quests will be better with the "destiny" quests that let you solo to 80 like the poster above mentioned

climbing is done via climb points...predesignated areas which you can climb....if i remember correctly...so no i dont think you can just go/climb/swim anywhere

"Climbing is used at specific points in the world which are defined as being climbable. These are placed throughout the landscape by gameplay designers, and will be available at various points throughout the game. While some climbing points are commonplace enough to be used by a novice, others will require a bit more specialization in this skill—which Rogues are particularly adept at. "

so it looks like Rangers/Barbarians/Assassins are gonna be better at it. Hope this is in PvP as well.
