man I had Pepsi shooting out of my nose when I read that. You should really warn people before you post something like this. That really hurt. Really funny though -  was almost worth it.

We are ALWAYS recruiting. We are just done "actively" recruiting. I have a few apps on file right now that look pretty decent. If something opens up or we decide to expand the roster cap I'll review those. Feel free to drop by our site occasioanlly and check out our recruitment needs.

Just stumbled across this thread again after posting my latest recruitment update.

To clarify a couple of points raised by previous posters:

a.) "Raid caps" don't just refer to PvE content. From the newsletters we know that the biggest chunk of "victory points" will be earned through instanced scenarios. That to me does not mean open war 1000 vs. 1000. It sounds more like an Alterac Valley, WoW type of deal. Maybe 40 vs. 40? Maybe more...maybe less. The point is we don't know so going by previous games 30 to me seemed like a safe number to start.

b.) The devs have clearly stated that there WILL be PvE endgame content. It won't be a gear grind like EQ or WoW. Instead it will tie into the RvR aspect of the game. I have no idea of what that means exactly but what I'm picturing here for example would be something like completing a raid dungeon where at the end of it you free a greater demon who you can then summon later on to fight for your faction for a little while. I think that would be a cool way to make PvE meaningful in a RvR game. The public quest system already hinted at some mechanics like that so I don't think my guess is too far off here.

c.) as for the comment that numbers = victory. That is simply not true. Anybody who played WoW on a PvP server knows that a premade 40 who play together like a well oiled machine will destroy an 80 pick-up any day of the week. I for one will take my 30 against any random 60 thrown together players.

d.) criticizing our guild because we don't have any in-game knowledge seems silly to me considering the game does not go live till next year

e.) and finally there are many War guilds right now with 100-500 members. I've been playing these games long enough to know that the life expectancies of those guilds are essentially zero. Drama will destroy one after another. A close nit group of people with a controlled roster is the way to go. But to each their own...

Cheers,

This originally went into the wrong forum so I'll repost it here:

Reborn is looking for 1 dedicated player for the upcoming BETA and release of Warhammer Online. We have recently lost 1 of our members so we're looking for a replacement. Please read our guild charter carefully before applying to make sure we are the guild you are looking for. If you are interested please take your time with your application - we are pretty picky and we get application spammed everytime I post one of these threads. First app does not win - Best app will so keep that in mind.

Cheers,

Deathstiny (Marroc) - Guild Master of Reborn

5.) Lord of the Rings Online

And the 5 WORST of all time:

1.) Vanguard (also an easy winner)

3.) Horizons

4.) D&D Online

5.) Post BC World of Warcraft

Yes - SWG is a decent game now. So what? Most people won't trust SOE ever again -  especially not those who got burned by SWG/VG. Like I said many times before TRUST is a huge part of the equation when it comes to MMOs as everything you work for is stored, maintained and can be altered at any time by the developers if they feel like it.

SWG is dying .... KOTOR online will finnish it off.

I never bought the excuse that harware needs to catch up. If Vanguard's graphics were beyind everything else out there right now I could accept that but they are not. VG's graphics are comparable to EQ2's at best and miles away from LOTRO quality. Considering that both those games run on average systems at high settings at 40-60 fps one can only conclude that the performance issues of VG are due to shotty programming and poor decision making when it comes to the development process.

By the time the "average" PC will run VG satisfactory VG's graphics will look horribly outdated compared to the standard that will be in place by then (my guess about 2 years down the road).

EQ's time has come. I still think it is/was the greatest MMO of all time but after 8 years it's kind of hard to keep it fresh especially when 99% of the player base is max level.

A classic server of course would change all that but SOE has never listened to its players so I'm not holding my breath.

errrrr I would decline the job offer of course. Having that game on your resume is essentially career suicide if you're in the gaming business.

I actually liked the dungeon crawls and the grind for gear, accomplishing something as a guild was thrilling - which is the reason I quit WoW after the expansion. I ran into a BE in Outlands who had comparable gear to me yet he never set foot into MC/BWL/AQ or Naxx. I asked him how many days played he had on his character and he replied "8". I did a quick /played on my guy who was part of every single server/faction first kill in the above mentioned dungeons. My time played came back as "132".

I love gear upgrades but all the devs had to do was look how it was done in other games before. Heck even look at original EQ. Yes every expansion made gear obsolete. The big difference is that RAID gear was replaced with RAID gear and TRASH gear was replaced with TRASH gear. Having to replace RAID gear with TRASH gear is unacceptable. I logged out and uninstalled the game after I disenchanted my Netherwind set in order to wear a mix of green and blue trash gear. 2 years of gameplay were wiped out with one bad decision. What's the point in achieving anything in BC when I know the next expansion will once again destroy anything I work for?

Meh! Whatever....WAR is coming!

It's kind of like saying "everything is great now - the crew is fully alert" AFTER the Titanic has hit the iceberg. Vanguard will die a horrible death and so it should. I give you that it may die as a decent game in the end but the MMO community has been screwed too many times to let this one go. Players are making an example of VG much like they have of SWG. One can only hope that developers get a clue and don't try these stunts in the future.

Just a heads up for everybody - Please don't take those test results for granted. This applies to ALL games not just Vanguard. This program essentially just scans your system and compares it to the specs suggested by the game company so you have to be careful. In Vanguard's case my system passes the test with flying colors (I'm past recommended) but I have never been able to reach 15 fps in game (translate: the game is unplayable on my machine).

Just a fair warning for those who are worried about performance and think passing this test will mean they will be able to play.

Once again before the haters flame me, this applies to ALL games not just Vanguard.

Even if VG is in the drop down list?

read my post again - I said it compares it to the system specs suggested by the developer (essentially what's written on the retail box). We all know that in VG's case those "suggested" requirements are a joke. They are barely enough to load the game.

Sorry guys didn't notice this thread stirred a bit of a debate. As for the member cap, it's really simple. When you are in an endgame guild and there are let's say 40 raid spots and you have 102 people waiting to get into the raid night after night you'll understand why we have a cap. The formula that seems to work for us is member count = raid cap x 120%. How many members you need is obviously based on how active the guild members are. Given that our guild has very active members we don't need many above raid cap to make sure we can always fill our ranks. As for 30 members right now -  WAR has not announced raid size limits so we're playing it safe.

errrrr.... I believe I speak for all of mankind when I say "please keep Brad ... and here's the source code. Please be careful not to upload it into your system or your spacecraft may crash unexpectetly. Also make sure to modify your .ini file otherwise you will not be able to reach lightspeed. Kthxbye!"

I am wondering where this story about SOEs devs comes from. The game is owned and developed by Sigil. SOE is the producer. This means that the devs working on the game are hired by Sigil. SOE staff work for technical support, marketing, packaging, distribution etc. The only case that devs from Sony work on VG is that Sigil pays SOE for them. Thats how these things work. Until SOE buys VG from Sigil, I dont believe that Sony devs can work for VG.

SOE is paying the bills. Without SOE Sigil would be in debt up to their eyeballs. You better believe it they have influence on Sigil. It may not be on paper, but Sigil is in SOEs grasp now and hopefully they can fix this garbage of a game.

No it is not. The 30M invested in VG was payed by Sigil. SOE does not really care about VG. If VG fails, Sony will just dump it. If it is true that Sony wants to buy it, that means that Sony believes the game will earn them alot of money. Otherwise why invest money in saving an awful game that you have not invested in?

not invested? It always amazes me how people think hosting a persistent game like VG costs nothing.
