Two words can define the major problem easily "End Game".  It is pretty non existant.

Hopefully this sends a signal to the rest of the MMO developers out there with games in development.  No end game means people leave.  AoC is another example of this, great looking game, but just horrible design decisions and no end game.

You have something to keep players occupied at the end game or kiss your playerbase goodbye.

I would not refer my worst enemy to this game.  As long as they have that dumb stamina system implemented, this game is a definite no play for anyone.  Why would anyone limit themselves to 100 fights a day or even less after level 50?

Yep the reviewer nailed it, the game is exactly Dungeon Siege with better graphics.  So for all the hype we got a game where you are sheparded throughout.  Sorry that is NOT a MMO in my opinion.  Exploration has to be part of the game, without it, it is a second rate FPS.

Sorry Funcom you just blew it!

You can't do a Starcraft MMO because the Humans would be 75% of the playerbase.  If you can't register that fact, I am sorry for you.

I am sure Blizzard is quite aware of this.

Not to say Blizzard can't do a sci-fi venue MMO, it just won't be Starcraft.

There is absolutely no way Turbine is going to develop a MMO that works on both PC's and consoles.  It just won't happen period.  It is even ludicrous to assume they are considering it.

The keypad is far inferior to a mouse and keyboard . Requiring an attached mouse and keyboard on a console is just not going to happen.  Turbine of course knows this and will not make the mistake others have.

Be interesting to see what Turbine intends to do for their next project.

If I remember correctly Conan had all sorts of acolades in the month before and after release, look at it now.   The truth will be known in a few months.  Until then have fun with it.

Actually statements like the above puzzle me.  Especially since more than half the population rarely pvp's.  Heck I am in 0.0 corp and have not pvp'ed more than 3 or 4 times this year.  Does not mean I don't like the game, I have as much fun playing as anyone.

CCP is realizing this too and fixing the unbalanced pvp items like suiciding, and too fast ships.

I think this game is getting better and better.

Eve most certainly is not a strictly pvp game.

I downloaded and tried this game recently.  I highly recommend people look elsewhere.  After playing Eve this game looks like something out of the 90's.   The tutorial was so buggy I could not finish it.

Highly recommended to avoid this game.

I really got a laugh out of this statement: "deficiency in the game's higher level content".   Now that is the understatement of the year.

Just to enlighten the Funcom folks, Turbine put the bolder rolling down the dungeon stairs trick in AC1 about 5 years ago.

As always too little too late.

Give me a break, no Darkfall video has ever shown an UI.  That is flat out fact!

I would like to see even a semblence of a UI in a video.

I still think this game will publish someday, just hard to predict when, certainly not this year, maybe not even next.

Yep, EA is going to kill their titles with draconian copy protection like that.

NO WAY, would I purchase any game with restrictions like that, no matter how good it was.

I reformat my hard disk about every 6 months, means I would have to buy a new game to play it after 3 installs, give me a break.  EA is digging themselves into a hole they won't climb out of.

Let's not annoint a game as great before we have had a chance to play it.

Been too much of that lately and all we have ended up with is a lot of mediocre games at best.

The game certainly has potential, I will grant it that.  The Koreans are really trying to find that best blend of eastern and western playstyles.  Maybe this one will do it.

Yep, SOE released the Beta version to the public, 2 weeks before Wow to get the jump on Blizzard.  Unfortunately it took them a year to get the game out of beta, during which time they made a number of adjustments to make it more Wow like.

reread the posts you are commenting on

haven't seen a post just stating "that game suxxors!" - though i'm sure they exist somewhere on this site

i see explanations and reasons for their opinions

A "reason" for their opinions is not "I got burned in DAoC and won't play Warhammer because it's from the same company." They judge the game before they've even touched it.

Also, perhaps you missed this lovely bit of hate...

PvE is nothing more as grind. You feel its only purpose is to reach level, not to have fun. RvR is just a bunch of ideas, nothing ready to enjoy. WAR will have another unfinished buggy release which seems to be state of the art for current MMOs. I am not even sure the game will survive the first year but perhaps hype alone carries the game to a somehow finished state. Quality an fun will certainly not do the trick.

There is no explination, no "why I think this is a grind" or "why I don't think the RvR will work"... it's just uneducated hate by a troll.

First off, you have to love posters who call others haters when they have a differing opinion.  That pretty much puts them in the clueless category to start.

Secondly, Mythic as a company, has a very less than stellar track record with the previous game DAoC.   Game companies, as a norm, don't change their spots.   Until Mythic demonstrats to the playerbase that they have changed, the right to be skeptical of them is a no brainer.

The game could be a great one, who knows, playing a few weeks in beta is not a very good indicator either.  Look at all the glowing reports we recieved from AoC.  That game was flawed from the start, just that many of you could not see it yet.

Personally, I hope that Mythic has learned from their mistakes and comes out with a great game, the genre needs a distinct success with all the less than stellar games released this year.

No beta, no publisher, no information period.  This is a classic lesson in how not to produce a MMO.

I really do want to see this game come out, but they need to stuff Tasos in a corner somewhere and get someone that has some marketing experience to be their front man.

It is usually easy to tell who the female gamers are.  They are usually more interested in the fantasy world around them.  They don't generally rush through quests, they actually take time to experience the world they are adventuring in.  I will have to say, my MMO experiences have been greatly enhanced by adventuring with these ladies.

Well DAoC was a pretty good game when Mythic introduced it, until everyone got to RVR that is.  Then  the veil was removed to show it's flaws.  Flaws that weren't addressed and in some instances enhanced in their future expansions.

So, for me, once burned by Mythic,  you won't find me trying the game this year.  I will wait for the nerf a lot kids to do their dirty work first.

If the reviews keep coming out positive I will probably give it a try next year.

One thing you can be sure of, especially when dealing with Mythic, that the initial reviews will be good, but it will be the follow-up ones that will be the important ones.  The big question will always be, has Mythic learned from all it's mistakes with DAoC.

Decision after decision, John Smedley continues to prove he is the most unliked CEO of any MMO business.   One of these days Sony will wake up and fire him.  When a CEO consistently overrules game design issues to the detriment of the playerbase, especially when he is as ignorant of the genre as Smedley is, you are going to have hate.

EQ2 could have been a great game, instead it is just another mediocre attempt at competing with Wow with a small niche audience.

SOE used to be the top dog in this business for years, now they are taking a back seat to all the other major MMO producers.  It has to be obvious to everyone that SOE needs to change and change drastically to reverse this trend.

It is not just the SWG debacle that is drawing hate, it is what is being done to all the titles.  Look at their upcoming Agent offering, they are doing the cash shop revenue model for it.  How many people will play a MMO where people can buy their way to success?  Not many.

Actually I find the asian pvp to be gank anonymous play.  I would hardly call their brand of pvp to be anything to crow about.

Guess we will just have to wait and see, but I do not have high hopes for this game, blending two different playstyles just does not seem to me to be a good idea.
