Any game that doesn't use sensible mechanics to prevent ganking will see a continued growth in ganking. Expect it to get much worse.

Well the best part of Istaria is the crafting and initially rebuilding all the broken crafting machines, bridges, structures etc. You can't experience that on a 4 year old server.

Also if I pursue crafting I want to be able to trade what I craft, and I don't see much point in competing with maxed skill crafters with an established reputation.

Also a new world aka server would generate a new community to be part of and grow with instead of trying to join a 4 year old, mostly high level veteran community. I think it's much more fun to be part of a new world establishing itself.

I think if the folks that now own Istaria would promote their improvements and commitment to the game, and widely advertise a  future date new server launch, that it could be successful in attracting both new and previous players.

I remember hunting wisps and hoping for a Greater lightstone to drop. They were worth a couple platinum.

Seems like everyone is leaving EQ2 to play Age of Conan. Is anyone staying?

Of course Funcom is unethical. They are selling an in-game advantage, a 3 day head start, for $5 which is RMT pure and simple. Any developer that engages in any form of RMT is unethical.

So the guy got pissed off about a teleprompter being vague or inaccurate. Who cares. This happened ages ago and everyone gets pissed off about stupid things now and then.

OP why are you obsessed with Bill OReilly?

Never preorder a game without testing/playing it first regardless of which company is behind it.

Partial list of preorder scams:

The Chronicle

Gods and Heroes

Dark and Light (released incomplete)

I don't mind playing games that load zones that EVERYONE shares but I hate instancing like in WoW, where every group has their private version. That kind of instancing makes playing a MMOG pointless. Just play a multiplayer version of a single box game if that's what you like.

I am not willing to risk investing time into playing Aion if no one from NCsoft is willing to guarantee that Aion will remain microtransaction free.

I don't pay to test a product and make it better so a company can make more money. Thanks for playing Funcom but I will pass on your game.

Some MMOGs require skill, some do not, WoW for instance does not. Some playstyles require skill, some do not, raiding does not. The OP is just suffering from penis envy, wishing they could be or have what they don't possess.

Using lag to force players to hunt and explore new areas seems like an excuse for poor design.  Instead, the game should make it an interesting activity that players would do on their own.  It's probably a good idea to try to prevent lag rather than use it as a mechanic.  Otherwise it would be like Pepsi making their 10,000th+ cans of Pepsi taste like crap because they want consumers to try Diet Pepsi.

I agree the gameworld should be interesting and balanced to offer multiple alternatives but there will always be players who choose the path of least resistance, to optimize their leveling speed, so there will always be a best choice of where to hunt at any given level. I am not saying that is good or bad, it could be considered smart gameplay, but lag is a natural occurance when an area becomes saturated and it's a realistic result of depleting an areas resources and should not be seen as a bad thing that a developer should remove so players can continue to rape limited areas without consequences.

Almost every dungeon in WoW is instanced. WoW has too much instancing for me.

Lag is virtual natures way of saying the zone is overpopulated and you need to hunt somewhere else instead of depleting all the resources in one area. Zoning on demand, making copies of zones to prevent lag, doesn't encourage players to spread out, explore, and hunt elsewhere.

True, and I am glad that TCoS wont be instanced that much. Look at their site.

 Now move on! kkthxbye

You are misinformed.
In the following dev interview you can easily find the following information (http://www.tcos.com/sbforum/viewtopic.php?t=12557)

==================================

MMORPG_Taera: Trickarius asks, Will there be instanced areas within the game? If so, what areas will instancing mainly be based on?

[TCoS]Wolf: Yes... there will be a lot of instanced areas within the game. These areas are mostly dungeon areas, but also Ancestral Quests are part of those instanced areas. Would be rather annoying to see a good guild kill the Demon Army General again.. just before you reached him. I know Adinthalos can be a real pain. but I want him to be a pain for everyone.. not just a select number of people. hence...

[TCoS]Wolf: ...his place is instanced.

[TCoS]Wolf: Several raftyards are also instanced.. meaning that you go there for quests but you don't want other players ruining a certain event. Those are there too.. although those are in a minority group.

I hope reaching max level in Aion is a painfully slow process like Lineage. I am tired of all these new games where people can max out in a week or two.

And that is why I won't risk investing time and money in AoC. I hate raiding and I don't wan't to be told by a developer that I have to raid to get the best items thru artificial BoP soulbound tags that will prevent me from trading legitimately ingame for those raid reward items.

Well all these responses and still no answer about BoP soulbound items. Will all items in this game be tradeable? Yes or No. Thank you for a response to this question.

I hate raiding and won't play a game that forces you to raid in order to get the best items. If all the raid drop and quest items are fully tradeable, and I mean all of them, every single last one of them, none of this BoP soulbound bullshit, so I can trade ingame for those raid items, then I would consider playing.
