Blizzard is shaking on their throne. They have released one expansion pack in 3 years. ha!

First blizzard dont release half assed products, they release it when its done.  Shall i tell you why blizzard hasnt need to rush out epxansion after expansion like certain other games just to try to get to a good level, its because they release major patches that have expnasion type content, and the fact that their game has more content than most other mmos, means they dont need to keep pumping out stuff just to keep up unlike many other games.  yes they must really really be shaking in theri boots, no wounder mythic keep delaying warhammer, lol.  Sorry I thought blizzard were meant to be shaking in their boots once the king of all PVP mmos Aoc was released lmao, so much for that one.  Better get back to the drawing borad and stop releasing half finished beta state games I say.  Get a grip.

newsflash, Aoc is not a pvp game.  Because they stuck on a pvp server its a pvp game now??  LOL by that toke, lotro, wow eq2, vanguard are pvp games.  LOL and dont try come with sieging, sieging probably wont be in game for another 6 months to a year if ever.  This game was and still is ni beta.

Totally agree. The sad fact is Funcom lied to alot of people in beta and to the public about what the game was.  Also the fact that bet was full of fanbois and yes men saying everything was fine was a joke.

Go to funcoms own store, it costs 70 euros+ lol biggest scam ever imo.  They must have made  akilling with the units sold and the pre order early acess codes alone.  While all the time hyping the game as being the enxt big pvp mmo.  Failcom and the game are a joke.

Failcoms biggets mistake was developing, lying and then releasing a overhyped piss poor game.  Game is not ahead of its time, its damn behind the times in terms of gameplay and actual game options and content.  The game is a joke.

Your comparing a pure pvp game like SB with Aoc, lmao.  First of the ideas behind SB pvp blow Failcom and Aoc to probably  -4 gen mmo.  SB might not be the best game or the pvp ideas in it the best implemented, but the actually pvp  concepts and ideas blow Aoc out of the water.  Aoc is a game where even the design and ideas are flawed simple as that, they hype was way over the top, next gen pvp game, pull the other one Failcom.

Aoc if anythign should be compared to the flop that is Vanguard and EQ2,  Just because Failcom hyped up siges dosnt mean its a pvp game jesus. Lol sieges in a years time most likely 5 years and sieges was not even in beta thill this day or even in the live version of the game.

Patch notes to try to fix a broken and pure bug infested game, nothing more, same route Vanguard went.

It was played by Fanbois in the beta, but not tested.  AS soon as you said anything they didnt like, they would say go back to wow, there is no arguing with that crap.  Also if you dont like it  give your beta key to someone that likes it.  Beta was a joke, full of fanbois and yes men.  What they failed to relaise was beta is not about liking it but trying to find faults and giving negative feedback and good if warranted.  Now when the game releases everyone complains its full of bugs and crap.  Not ssuprising tbh, the beta was just full of wow haters and fanbois running around trying to be cool.

Such is the life of PvP games, of entire hunting grounds being camped by uber large guilds. What about the original PvP / Siege game known as Shadowbane? I remember when that game was in the same situation AoC is as you described it.

How do you compete with a small guild? You don't. Thats the main problem with PvP games, including Dark Age of Camelot. Zerging will always dominate simply because total numbers outweighs player skill.

What can Funcom do to fix this? Well, they way they designed the game, it's basically a hopeless cause to expect anything promising. The main issues with lack of leveling areas won't be fixed entirely by increasing the total number of areas to level in.

People are already screaming that AoC is too instanced. Pretty soon, people are going to want an entire instance to themselves on PvP servers, which kind of defeats the purpose of PvP.

To be completely honest, the only game thats even come close to perfecting a mix of PvE and PvP is of course Dark Age of Camelot. Players could level their toons in the safety of their realms and then venture out into the frontiers to PvP.

Granted I'm on a FFA PvP server in AoC, I heavily agree with your opinion of the current state of the game. However, the problem lies deep in the game mechanics which is that it is a FFA PvP game. Until you separate PvE from PvP, you will have every problem you described.

Even when WoW came out, you were eventually forced to level by quests in enemy territories. WoW was probably less of a hassle, but it was still a zerg wins situation.

There is no true cure for FFA PvP servers and probably never will be thanks to zergs. FFA PvP means the players control every aspect of the gaming environment and you either profit from a large guild or suffer the embarassment of a smaller guild.

Try forming alliances, thats what we've done and it helps to some degree except for the fact you can still hurt other guild members and allies in PvP. I'm kind of doubting the longevity of this game simply because of the FFA PvP. Perhaps the Faction and PvE servers will survive but eventually, AoC FFA PvP servers are going to go the way of Shadowbane and die a slow painful drop in server population.

Aoc is not a PVP game, it has a pvp server takced on and nothing more than that.  Next gen pvp my arse.

LOTRO when it first launched did not manage to immerse me in the world. Part of it was due to the bland directX9 graphics. The later update to directX 10 turned the game around and gave much credit to the world of middle earth, as presented in the game.

EVE directX 9 and directX 10 clients are night and day in difference. The game has been out for a while now and the update infused some well needed fresh air into it. Unfortunately for me, the lack of avatar was my greatest immersion break (totally personal point of view, ships are the equivalent of armor while the players are represented by the pod pill).

WoW is totally outdated. Not as outdated as AO, but still so old that they break my immersion in the world (Blizzard violating the lore in any way imaginable is another issue of course).

This is the 2008 so the games that want my subscription money better look like they were made with today's technologies. Arcades were fun when I was young, but you would need to pay me to play them now.

I agree with the required polishing. They still have a long way to go before they establish themselves in the "succesful over time" side of the MMO field.

Wow looks outdated? lol get a grip, it probably looks better than most mmos out wih the arty style they wnet with.  You probably get more immersion from wow than any mmo.  Because you in your mind you think because it dosnt look realistic that it looks outdated lol.  I will take wow beatufully designed world and gameplay over anything in aoc and lotro any day.

What amazeses me about SGW, is that the only news you ever hear about it is news about how their forums are getting bigger and the amount of users that have reigistered on theri forums.  What type of game is this mmo? is it a forum mmo?

Please for the love of god release proper info about game mechanics, and info like pvp questing, and whether the damn game will be seamless and what type of questing and crafting system you have.  I dotn bloody care how many users you have on your poxy forums.

Yes ive run into them as well, but for the love of god they are so rare and far between, it dosnt even affect gameplay.  What thillian constantly spwes and syas is everything affects the way he players bla bla bla,  Get a grip liek with anything programmed you will get a bug.  maybe we should talk about Thillians next gen mmo Vanguard as a good expample of bugs.

The things that attract people to WoW are pretty much timeless.  It's a very polished game, with few bugs and few annoying features.

Terrible lie.

I have to admit, I got lured to WoW by my friends and played it for 2 weeks about a month ago. I was counting the bugs I encountered:

  • 2-3 per hour Mob didn't move. When I ran off, it says "evade" and healed to full health.
  • 5+ per hour Mob didn't move, when I ran off, it was still hitting me. But I couldn't attack back. It sayd out of range. When I moved back to where I saw it, I could hit it.
  • 0-1 per hour Mob I couldn't see was attacking me.
  • Very frequent in some zones: Mob was attacking me through walls and I couldn't attack back
  • 2-3 per hour I killed a mob, and I stayed in combat. I couldn't rest and I couldnt mount up.
  • 1-2 per hour When I tried to loot a mob, my char stayed in a weird bugged position. I couldn't loot it and had to logged out.
  • Escort quest in searing gorge bugged in the middle. The NPC stopped moving

All together, there was about 20 bugged situations that appeared every hour. Maybe you are used to these combat, loot bugs, or the invisible/unmovable mobs, but please DON'T tell me this game is bugfree and polished. It's been 4 years out, and is bugged more than many other lately released games. Of course, I left the game after 2 weeks. In WoW there is actually far more grind, than it is in VG or Lotro.

Hahaha thillian, trully you are living in another world.  Why did you go back to wow???  You detest it then for months procliamed Vanguard wass the best mmo, what happened to Vanguard.  Thillian get a grip and maybe stop jumping form mmo to mmo.

Everything you say about wow just cannot be believed, really you spew so much crap its untrue.

Here's a repost of mine:

Here's new info on instanced bit of city sieging and RvR in general over at warhammeralliance.com

Guys,

I was reading through this thread and decided to stop lurking and chime in.

Nothing we said has changed about sizes of Capital City battles. Whatever is the "fun" number is the number we will go with. We are still shooting for 75v75 (more likely 72v72), but we would love it to be larger for some of these critical areas. This limit is only in the instanced, contested, Capital City areas though (and of course in our general, instanced scenarios throughout the world 6v6, 12v12 and larger battles do happen).

The video that many have linked here still holds true, though we are definately tweaking and improving the city experience based upon testers feedback and everything is still open to be changed if needed to make it better.

Remember, much of our RvR takes place in the open world and can have pretty large numbers involved. I literally just got done with a 3 hour long fight in beta that had 100v100 testers or more rampaging around Marshes of Madness, capturing objectives, seiging keeps and causing general mayhem. For those concerned, Destruction prevailed and captured the zone

I know this doesn't answer all of your concerns, but at least know that we are aware of them and that we are paying attention to what you guys desire.

-Jeff

So.... the number of participants is still in the air. Mythic wants huge battles that are FUN. Everything else is subordinate to that.

Same spin and crap like Funcom did with Age of crap.  Another delay incoming for warhammer me thinks, or they will release it and it will eb another hyped up so called wow kilelr game that neevr was.  These so called next gen wow killer mmos just get more and more ridculous.  Infact warhammers pvp is more instanced based  than wows.

Like Vanguard, they going to try patch and fix the game, because it fails on all levels as an mmo.  Maybe be worth trying in 1 year or 2 years , just liek Vanguard maybe worth trying in another 6 months to a year.  Until then this is by far the most hyped and biggest dissapointment of a so called mmo in my eyes.  Not even worthy to call an mmo.
