I have been browsing the official forums the last few days and i have come to the conclusion that the majorrity of posters reacts very immature for a game with a (M)ature rating.

If this is the genral expected player attitude after release, i am getting really really concerned

The game manhunt 2 has been banned in the UK.

The game was shooting for a mature rating, but the english censors deemed the game so gruell that it was not fit for the general public. So they refused to give it any age rating which means the game can not be released in the UK.

Lets hope that our Conan developers will not change anything to this games setting.
Violent games in general are on the edge of being banned.

Lets hope you are right on that, i'll pray you are, because i could not stand another medicore MMO, allways i fall in love with a game at prerelease but after DAoC i could never feel that sensation of a true gaming diamond again (VANGUARD HAS SOME OF IT, BUT WASRELEASED WAY TO EARLY AND BUGGY)
But then lets strike that because its just my personal opinion and we're not talking here about that game.

As quoted from the FAQ
PvP mini-games
is a selection of mini-games, like Last man standing, King of the Hill and so forth (as you know from FPS games), but with a unique Conan twist, of course. These fights will take place in areas of the world dedicated or designed for PvP combat. To level out the fact that many friends have different abilities and levels, we also have a PvP-leveling system where we have divided the 80 levels into 4 PvP tiers, where you will be auto-leveled up to the max level of that tier during the PvP fight.
On many other MMO boards i have asked for a system like this and named it PvP Quests
You can do so many things with this idea, so many that it drives me insane...
Here are some options that come to mind.
- Caravan raiding, caravan goes from A to B, if you join team X you protect it, if you join Y you attack it.
-TAG game, in one town there are NPC's selling murder contracts, this leaves you with you hunitng one player in this town and another player hunting you.
-Army battles, two lords are at war, and are hiring mercenaries, join either side and fight the others, objectives like castleseig, or capture the flag, or total victory come to mind, Objective can change everytime the quests runs again (quest runs at set times like every hour)
-Dungeon run, some questgivers send groups of people intoo a dungeon to reach a certain objective. Since all groups have the same objective they can and should fight eachother

And so much much more, now lets hope that they will implement more then 2 of these ideas (WoW anyone)intoo the game...

The first PvP games should allready be available at the island

So how big are these borderlands ?

is there place enough for every new guild to build their own keep?

Is there only one instance /server of these borderlands?

Can i build my castle/keep anywhere in these borderlands ?

I am hoping for a fixed number of plots, and huge PvP battles in the borderlands between guilds...and there will allways be more guilds then keeps...so there will allways be battles.  So i am hoping for a PvE server with PvP in the borderlands, aka DAoC realmwars.

Border Kingdoms is a fairly large area. The ob jectives and their locations are pre planned and limited. There are only a few pre placed keep locations.

Player villages are something every guild can have in a resource and building playfield. Battlekeeps will be an achievement that has to be fought for.

There will be as little instancing of the Border Kingdoms as possible as it is important to the feeling of war, conflict, and "reality"
<smiles>

The more answers i get, the more i love what i see and hear

So, still no word on Teleporting/warping  spells? whether they will exist or not?

I hope they are left out personally.
I would have shared your opinion a few months ago, untill i met Vanguard. The huge world of vanguard made me see that no means of teleport  is bad, very bad for the community of a game, if it takes 45 minutes of ingame traveling time before you reach your friends this will chase off all casuall gamers.

I personally wonder how they will put in teleporting in a beleivable way inside the conan universe.

The idea of portals/circles where you have to reach the circle/portal first before you can use it, still holds true. Riftways (portals) made Vanguard a much better game in my opinion. And if it weren't for the bugs(which are slowly disapearing) it would have been a great game.

I would have to agree with ya here, teleportation comes in handy at times. Even if it is a spell that you would have to pay some one for in my opinion it is worth it.

thats because there was no content in Vg and they sent you all over the map with no real good way to get you there i would like to see if  AoC could pull this off because it would make for a better game

There was so much content in Vanguard pre level 30...even at release

only:
-there where no spoiler sites yet pointing you to the content, so you had to search for the content.

So the same people that where crying they wanted a hardcore game started crying there was no content
Why?
-Because some people allways whine.

If everyone has its own keep, whats the fun of attacking one?

But everywhere i met FFA PvP i detested it. And i know most people i know will agree to me.

If they only release a RPvP with FFA PvP at release, its obvious that all PvP powerhorses will join the RPvP server and thats smething that will ruin the whole RP society.

So i was hoping that they would release a RP server with the same set as the normal servers, but added some RP enforcement.

Alright, i'll help you out..

Age of Conan might make new grounds in my eyes. Its got an awesome potential and the team working on it seems to be intent on living up to that. They want to make a game that is great and not just a money maker/holder. Its got tons of features to dwell on.. but some of the most impressive... at least in my eyes.. are the guild cities, combat, and realism.

Age of Conan isn't... World of Warcraft. You won't find pretty little elves dancing on tables for spare change.. gnomes running around in 'ultra-l33t' gear and you certainly won't find cute creatures to beat down on. The developers have tried their hardest to make it as true to name as they can without violating law... sorta.. Well if you've read Conan or even at least watched the movies and gotten past Arnold's acting.. you'll notice the world is dark and gritty. Its reality with fantasy.. (i know.. i know.. that doesn't make sense.) Its about the blood and gore of combat, the dark and evil people of the world, and the twisted goals of everything around us. Expect to find yourself morally challenged when going through quest-lines.. It won't be a happy little world.. its going to be barbaric.

The combat.. is different for MMOs.. its all about running in and hack n' slash.. none of that.. run up. click button. wait. click button. wait. click button. wait. etc etc. Its based on the idea of pulling you down into the combat as best and as fair as it can with real-time combat thrown in with some traditional style. Its a new concept and could do well on the market. Some however, say its too slow..

The Guild cities are interesting. Once you gain a big enough guild you can set up cities in the world. Name them, populate them, and build walls around them. Hire NPC to patrol your streets and defend your walls. Construct city-businesses to supply travelers or to better help the construction of your city. Awesome. Now, once your city gets big enough however, there will be those who will stand up against you. During long periods of time you'll find small encampments and eventually whole barracks building up around the roads leading to your town. Attacking visitors and maybe traders headed to your city. Once they get big enough.. they'll come after your city and its up to you and your guild with their hired NPC to fend off the attacks while also destroying the enemy encampment entirely with your  trebuchet.

I find Age of conan will probably be very immersive and entertaining for at least a little while. If the developers keep up with the players and stay on track with updates, fixes, and new content down the road.. they'll make a killing with the game.. I'm interested in it and will give it a try.

Hope that helps!

Where has the PvP gone in your endscene scenario...

Only the first hour or so of the game is completely single-player. Once you reach the village of Tortage, you will start meeting other players. You can switch between day and night by sleeping at the inn, and during day you will always be with other players, while during the night you will be all alone.  At level twenty you leave Tortage island and head for the mainland, and from there on you will always be in a massively multiplayer environment.

Seems my post was based on old information and some lazyness...

Seems like the gods themselves realised that community building from the earliest hour would be a necessarity for the game in the long run.

Thank you all for your quick replies, lets just hope that from these villages like Tortage will also have some minor options for group play.

If i read correct then the first 25 levels are solo play. AS a true RP fan, i think its a waste that you first have to wayt 25 levels before you can start building a community of friends in your new favourite game.

Since i have a hard time playing any single person RPG's since i entered the worlds of Norath late 1998, i really miss the options to roleplay and chat with others and to make friends in a sigle player game.

But if Conan wants to attract players like me, it should have options for players to meet ingame before they reach level 25..... Maybe they could create player hubs, like those found in guildwars, where players can meet inbetween adventures and talk with friends or form guilds...Maybe they could even add some groupinstancess that start from such a hub.

This would truely lighten up the first 25 levels for me. And i hope that most others here would be happy with such a system too.

I am confident they will

This delay was to be expected, as they need to put in a whole new set of character annimations

War was allready delayed till 2K8, Conan will soon announce a delay too, just beleive me...so i'll stick to vanguard for now...and enjoy the beautifull landscapes.

5 steps....

1) make the client rock stable and increase game performance in some areas like towns dungeons and plces like 3 rivers. bug hunting big time

2) add content content content content and more content
             -Quests Epic and storyline based
-NPC's actually making towns feel alive (the only good thing about LOTRO)
             -Gear
             -crafting content
-Diplomacy content like the raciall diplomacy quests that take people all
the way to 300, also tigh this diplomacy content to normall quests
-Create an awesome AA system to archeive classballance
-Add events that really change things in the world, makes areas totally
              change depending on player actions

3) Add a lot of things that makes it easier to join groups
-healer teleports working from evrywhere in the world (at above level 30)
             -Find group interfaces

4) Consensuall PvP, add a new area where a War between several different groups rages. Players can join and leave this war, something like the RvR idea in DAoC, maybe even quest based. But make it so that people make the choice to PvP whenever they want.

5) Finally add an economical system.

And maybe they should close the game down untill things are repaired because i still think that:
-The world looks awesome on a high end PC
-Combat is truely fun
-Crafting is the best and most fun system ever (with some tweaks)
-The diplomacy stories where fun...to start out with....

And i think there is nothing wrong with the character models. they could be better but they dont distress me.

Anyone that takes my post serious  should scratch himself behind his ears.
But exactly posts like this make the game and the companies behind it look even worse. It aint that bad and Vanguard still has the potential.

I myself still enjoy my hours i spend in Vanguard, and i seriously hope that they can make things stable soon, and add the missing content

About one month before release some SOE programmers joined Sigil to finish the game fast...

I bet these coders put in some bugs to asure the game would fail, so SOE could take over easilly. If SOE takes over they'll remove the bugs. Combined with the bad marketing for the game by SOE this would make sense.

Just a wild guess but it could be soooooo true

5/16/07 12:19 AM
Viewed 541, Replies 17

Still the game has potential.

If it gets fixed and gets high level content added then SOE should give away a free trial, and make the game free of purchase with only a monthly cost.

What the game needs most now is players.

5/16/07 12:16 AM
Viewed 476, Replies 9

I dont agree with your worst case scenario.

Worst case is SOE ports the game to PS3.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

But if SOE takes over i hope they can do the same for this game as they did for EQ2, and do it fast.

First they need to close the servers down, make all current players beta players, fix the game, add high level content, add an economic system, create diplomacy story line that take players all the way to max level .......and launch again.
