There will be a lot of voice overs...

Somewhere on the mainsite there was a discussion over how they did those voice overs... Seems all employees ((and even some of their fammilly and friends)) have helped out on those voice overs.

From what i have heard they sound great...

Although i utterly hate level based MMO's, one thing i do give credit to AoC for is their graphics engine! unlike WAR, AoC looks much more polished and smooth by comparison.

So here's to you AoC:

So, how can you compare? you are in the two betas? you know any of the two engines are finished? you know that war is running in the "lowest" mode? that aoc have not improved some code and performance? you cant compare, you can say, that you like aoc graphic cause you saw on a video they are realistic, but you cant compare and say they are much more polished cause the general background is really different.

<smiles> There are not many people that are in oth beta's, actually i know only one person that is in bot... And no i am not going to tellyou his name that would be against the NDA.

But to me it seems like comparing AoC graphics versus Warhammer graphics is like comparing Apples to Oranges.

Well, its a small company and they are allways looking for more funds...but they got pretty good at that...

I think the game will be a blast...

This video show so much more class and espescially style then 13 in a dozen games like Aion.

Great graphics on all systems and not only on high end systems.

I think that having better sigils will give you an advantage....

But even with worse sigils , but when choosen the right sigils for your strategy, you might be at an advantage allready. The Sigils you equip are much more part  of choosing your playstyle then adding to your stats.

Even tough you will get an advantage when you have better sigils, you can never win from a player that is much more skilled then you, just because of the fact that your sigils are better.

Importance for combat in this order..

-Player skill (combat action)

-Player tactics (Choosing skillsets)

-Class choice/Sigils and other gear influencess

This game is just different, but because power gamers want nothing but the best even if the influence is just marginall, they will be attracted to the endgame too.

lol....mmorpg needs a new forum category on the left.... Released Games, Games in Development, and Games to be released after the Second Coming of Christ.  They can then put TCOS and Darkfall in that last grouping.

So yea, major similarities between the two games.

How come you say that? Spellborn is going to be released in Q1in Europe while it may be later in America it is most certainly not Vaporware.

Some kind of loose association... I remember winning a closed beta invite to this game over a year ago, and tcos kept pushing the date back ... "we will start in one month" then "it will definately be next month" etc. Took around 5 months to finally happen. And it was set to be released that spring (2007).

I guess it was the month to month push of the CB that stuck in my mind. Not as crazy as DF of course (year to year push for a decade?)... was just joking around; why so serious? who cares?

Guess what....

Last month i played TCoS for 3 hours at a testingsession...

Can't say more about that because of NDA.

Darkfall has never ever showed up at any gametradeshow.... Spellborn has showed up on some and will even be on this months game developers convention. Darkfall could be vaporware, spellborn is certainly not....

Seems people do not understand what a beta is,  its not a free trial of a game... If you want to play a free trial you'll have to wayt till the game is released  and /or apply for open beta.

I would neverinvite people that write for dubious magazines to an early beta test. Most people do not understand that testing a game requires a certain attitude that allows people to see past the bugs (And hunt those bugs at the same time)

Next to that there are maybe 5000 beta testers and 500.000 people that applied. So do you know 100 people that applied to the AoC beta test?

Quit your whining and move on, play your current games, and wayt till your pre-order arives at your doorsteps.

Saddest thing is there applied 500K people, and thats probably more then the open beta can even handle, thats why FC will prolly call it an Open invitationall beta.  Next to that open beta somehow will be distributed by gaming sites too, so people will really start whining then...

Why does everyone still beleive they are the center of the Universe

And no, its not only Conan where this happens, its all games under development. Over at the Warhammer and Spellborn developer boards people are allways whining about this.

Next to that more and more game companies are turning more towards inhouse testing instead of beta testing. Just because it works ao much better.  I think in the future long time beta's like AoC are history, beta will be just a few months before release.

Amazing Avery says:  Oh btw you called AoC a bugfest too citing German magazine which is outdated, if you read their latest hands on your find it different just like buffed.de did.

Aye i read that just now and agree that they changed their opinions.

Here is what I know about the game:

Tagline "past, present, future" is what the was all about.
Past, present  & future was a good idea but it looks like it didn't see the light of day. Basically it was supposed to be implemented with these quests that were suppose to take you back into the past before the world shattered - that would ultimately change the present/future.

I believe last time I checked in last with the community they decided to drop that whole thing. Ancestral quests they were called at the time.

Originally the game was going to be massive pvp, with 5 houses that were at war with each other and whoever's house had the most ancestral quests completed would get certain favours. It was a neat idea.

However, after reading about the game over a few years they pucified the game to become a wow knockoff with less content then wow and less customization then they originally promised (rumour). They fired everyone who was worth a damn and banned alot of people who helped build the community up originally.

Sine then I dont ever know if they listen to anyone who doesnt agree with their decision on how they want the game to be.

All I know is prior to this they made some crap ass fps game called Alpha Black Zero something. (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/alphablackzero/index.html?tag=tabs;summary) Really horrible game.

I know they have signed up some independant publishers for Germany, and some other European countries. Nothing for the US yet though... unless thats changed.
Khaeon studios was there original name, with which not a lot of good things has been said about, so pedigree is lacking, and they have had more developers hired and fired than a second hand Dart Board has "holes" in it. (part reason why hard to find US publisher, because of original foundations and background of company)

Later on in Spellborns life they remained in a long period of stagnant development, with a lot of original idea gone.

This game will be in my opinion, like PotBS, made out to be something different but wont deliever to the masses or the niche market something that hasn't been done before better.

I could go on, but really, its not worth the flames from the people who think they really know what going on.

Most of your information is very outdated. And even wrong.

May i ask you to edit your post....... You don't see us trashing AoC, do you? Both games will be great games.  But they can't really be compared with eachother...

I have heared the people of Funcom bragging about allmost everything, except mob AI.

But since they know that even most sociall people solo 50% of the time, its very important to make this soling experience as  good as possible. For me the solution to this problem is Mob AI... Intelligent mobs posing a challenge.  ((Thast intelligent humanoids... beast can just be beasts as allways))

So did we hear anything about the mob AI in solo area's ?

they are still aiming on a Q1 2008 release... that would be a late march release..

The game is currently in 3rd extended closed beta phase... and there should be a semi-open (on invitation) beta too before release. There are currently more then 1000 beta testers involved.

Most bughunting is done tough, by an inhouse QA(test) team, that works much more efficiently..

Just wondering how free will i be to move inside a normall zone ?

Will it be more like old fashioned RPG zones where ostacles prevent me from moving stright at my target ..Or will i be able to roam these zones as i want, going everywhere in reach without being obstructed by hills i can't clim or wooden walls.
