Hey! This isn't a thread to start a petition or any of that. As of right now it looks like we aren't going to have RP PvE servers for either NA or EU. This thread is to point folks in both NA and EU who are interested in going to an unofficial RP PvE server to others who want the same. This thread is not to debate which is "better" or what is "true RP". There are plenty of other threads for that. As stated above, this thread is only to guide people who have looked at their options and based on their likes and dislikes would like to play in a RP PvE game environment. For North American server: http://forums.tentonhammer.com/showthread.php?p=235250&posted=1#post235250 For European server: http://forums.ageofconan.com/showthread.php?t=74420

If we're going to talk roleplay, though, then we need to address the full spectrum, and not just rping the assassin's "combat moment". Who hired you to kill that player? What was the reason they wanted them assassinated? What information have you gathered to track them to the specific area where you found them? When you left the city, did you have their specific name? To me it's one thing to have Amazing Avery in-game contact you and request a hit on Khalathwyr who is known to loiter outside the gates of Tortage as opposed to "oh, hey, I'm roaming around out in the middle of nowehere. Oh, hey look, there is a person soloing a mob, I think I'll go stealth and attack when his hitpoints are low. whack- dead. Oh, hey look, there is another person soloing...rinse and repeat." If you were roleplaying a "deaf/mute mass murderer", well, then you'd be spot on. Assassin typically only killed for contract pay. Not for ***** & Giggles. |

Well, we can for sure nail down that not all Gamestops got them on the same day, but they are in fact starting to arrive. So keep your heads up (meaning I'd call your store each day after say 2:00pm local time and ask if they have them). As for only getting 5 per store that is not accurate from things I've seen/read. The store where I picked up my 2 had a box that had a few more in it. Also, a friend of mine from another site said that his store had a whole stack of them with receipts stapled to them. If a store only has 5 then they must have only gotten 5 pre-orders, have 5 left after other people picking theirs up already or had an issue with their delivery. |

Those cards are now in store for people who made in-store pre-orders. The card contains the pre-order code which grants your War Mammoth mount and also access to download the cliet beginning May 14, 2008 and early access to the game on May 17, 2008. The first words at the top of the card are Age of Conan Hyborian Adventures In-Game Exclusive and the card in red in color with a gold scratch strip concealing the actual code. (Description included in case you need it to give to the store clerk who doesn't seem to know what you're asking for). Have fun! |

Yep, I run it just fine with my EVGA 7950 GT KO 512mb card. Also, the DX 10 client is not available in this weekends' preview unless they changed it late Saturday, which I didn't see. That said, it still looks awesome, even on the LOW setting. |

There should be a filter for that, though. |

I imagine if bandwidth was free and Funcom didn't have to, oh, put the finishing touches on the game before retail launch, then maybe it would be free. But bandwidth isn't free and Funcom doesn't have the manpower free right now to set all that up. Fileplanet does and had a setup to distribute the keys and facilitate the 50K players they are putting keys out for. Do I like it? Heck no. I see no point in paying Fileplanet for a service I may use once every couple of years and only if they get beta keys to games I'm interested in. Am I angry? Nope, not at all. If you look at it objectively, from a business standpoint it's the best thing to do. And make no mistake about it, this is a business first, on all accounts. Paying all that money it would cost Funcom to just make it open for everyone hoping that every single person bought the game. That's a hefty gamble there. When you're talking that kind of money, you don't make a gamble like that. That's why you'll note that Funcom isn't the only developer utilizing Fileplanet, and you will no doubt see FP being use alot in the future for MMO open betas. |

As for devs reading this board, I highly doubt it. If you can say one thing about all this forums it's that they pretty much let you say anything you want when you want. The bad side to that is you're going to see way more bad, founded in truth but most often not, than good. This same thing happened with LOTRO, DDO, and Vanguard (those were the games I've followed on this site). While yes, Vanguard got it's ripping here and it was deserved, the other two turned out to be pretty decent games. If you want even-handed, objective discussion about this game or any other, there are forums out there. If you want "This game is going to blow because Vanguard blew and the NGE blew (granted it did blow) and I don't care if there is footage of X feature showing it in the game, it's not in there I say and nobody buys computers since 3 years ago so I don't know why developers are creating games that you pay to play for and that require better hardware/software", well, look no further. And sure, it's a fair enough question to ask if I feel this way why do I even come here. Well, it's like a car wreck. Everyone wants to see the gore. That and the news on the homepage is pretty good. |

Wing Commander Online Shadowrun Online Mechwarrior/Battletech Online Gamma World Online Those are a few I'd like to see done. My others, Fallout and Warhammer 40K, hopefully are more on the way to happening. I've heard good rumor that Interplay was gathering the ingredients for Fallout Online and I know that Warhammer 40K online has already been worked on for a little over a year so we should start seeing something about it in 2009. |

...Cause I was starting to wonder, ROFLMAO. Seriously, though, I have no issue with people who are skeptical and want to try it out for themselves or who choose to remain level-headed and not go hype crazy but that don't randomly bash for opinions conjured up and repeated over in their minds so much the person starts to believe it fact. But that guy, who just posted what he did, with the title he did, about a tech test...that was a complete and utter waste of a testing spot, in my opinion. Hey, if he/she doesn't have the perspective to have any idea what he was invited for and what their part in the testing was and just looked at it as "oooh, I get a chance to play the game!!!11!!"...hey, I guess it's their right to post that on a message forum to be mocked. *shrug* |

Lobo, you rule man. OP, I hear you loud and clear my friend. I miss those days too. Many game devs have got it in their heads that some demographic wants it faster and easier so we're seeing the deathknell of long and detailed (detailed now usually refers to graphics) RPGs and lengthy Turn-Based Strategy titles. Now it's FPS, RTS a shot of expresso and to the end game we go! Kind of like movies. Back then they made epic titles like Ben Hur, movies that lasted 2:30 to 3 hours long. Now we have 90 minute wonders like Forgetting Sarah Marshall. But that society is going to hell rant is for another time and place. |
