As for the best solo class it really depends how hard you want to work,I mean a bear shammy solo's very well but it does take some skill and not just pressing the same 3 or 4 keys,so I guess the question is how easy do you want the game to be?

Ok I am going to update this thread as I find the game rather than start new threads all the time.

I started back Today and had a real good session(the mrs was away all day)

I played maybe 10 hours today in total and I must admit I was having a blast,The quests as always are well written and great fun and ofc the graphics are great(they always where),ok so how is the the games preformance?well I have to say it is a hell of alot better than it was,ok yes I have upgraded my system but I never really thought that was the problem,it was more code problem and it is alot better,before I was getting maybe 40 fps in the wild and struggling to get an even 10-20 in cities,now I have around 70fps in the wild very steady and around 30-35 in cities(it maybe dips to 25 when I 1st enter).

The whole game feels so much better and this was with me struggling to get used to my lvl 18 shammy after so long away.Is the game perfect? nope not at all,there are still some bugs and other issue's but atm nothing that has me hitting my head against the keyboard.

All in all this is the best pve game I have played in a long long time,I aint no fanboi trust me I had alot of hate for this game for over a year but credit where credit is due and VG is due some now.

I will update this thread as the days go on until either I hit a brick wall in the game or you get the point.

BTW,anyone going back to the game or just didnt know remember to type /claim and get some nice items including a 36 slot bag with added 5% movement speed :).

I have to ask ...are you guys really mmorpg player's? or just the ppl that will sit for 1 hour on end on the like's of CS doing sniper duty to get 1 kill and think you are soooo great?

I cant imagine what the thrill is to be say level 50 and go into a level 20 zone and 1 shot ppl,I mean what do you guys get from that?do you honestly say"man I rock I 1 shoted that noob"?

Yep it seem's we are in the same boat,I have been thinking of returning for sometime now but always held back until I seen someone on this site offer his guild for new member's,Yep I know that may sound strange to some ppl but this game really needs to be played in a guild added to this so many ppl saying it is now playable was enough for me.

The good thing for me is a MMo is a sociable thing and without guilds etc it just wont work and before there were no guilds asking for members add to that the preformance issue's then you have a big problem,maybe VG can start to show its true colour's with guild's forming and if the game is really alot more playable we could be onto a winner,In my eye's it has always been a sleeping giant.

I made a post just below yours that I am trying it again,What I can say is VG did have the idea to be the best mmo but it fell quite a bit short on release and even somewhat after that.

I am patching now to give it 1 last chance,I will write up what I think in a few day's,the thing with VG is it had so much going for it in terms of quests,crafting,world(it is huge),classes(yep there are that many) and just general things you wouldnt expect from other mmo's....but the preformance wasnt good at all,also it can get lonely in the game...really lonely,also there were quite a few bugs.

Though I am loading it up and willing to give it another go after 1 and half years as it had so much going for it(ok some real and some promise)but in this day and age when mmo's are crippled this game is is worth the try.

Pappy I have followed alot of your posts over maybe the last 6 months and tbh I wouldn't call you a fanboi at all,I see you as someone who has found a game you really enjoy or used to enjoy and thats it,I dont see you throwing the game down ppl's throat's or argueing about the game as a whole.

I also enjoyed wow for maybe 2 years but moved on,Yes I found it a bit light wieght in terms of mmo gamming,as in easy questing and crafting but I still enjoyed my ride there and if ppl still enjoy it then fair play to them,You will maybe find ppl that attack wow player's are jealous for the simple fact they dont have a game to play atm.

Hey Torak,I am returning player trying the game 1 last time,the reason's I quite before are ofc the preformance but also the fact there wasnt alot of ppl around and finding a guild was near impossible,I am patching the game as I type this and would love to tag along in your guild and pray that this game can be what I thought it could be a year and half ago.

Can I ask do you use the same name in game?

I think I will use a new guy to start with as it has been so long,just to get used to it again and ofc unsure if the name I choose will be available.

I have alway's loved the idea of Vanguard even when it released so badly I still bought it and tried to love it,but couldnt,After maybe 10 month's there was alot of post's saying "VG is fixed" etc so I tried again in January,alas it still wasnt what I hoped it would be,These 2 time's I tried was on my old system but even then I still expected better than 10 fps in cities,I used to have amd 3200+,2gb ram with a 7600gt card.

Also I think alot would back me up was the population,it got real real quiet out there...

Anyway I have alway's followed the forum's with VG hoping for the best and there again seem's to be quite a few player's now happy in VG and with the recent dissapointment of AoC I decided now was the time to fire VG up on my new system,I now run a duo core 2.66 4gb ram with 8800gt 512 mb card.

Ok so there should be any problem with my system and even the population I could forgive(if I can find an active guild that is:)

The thing is with Vanguard it really has the promise in a MMo I always wanted,I could honestly list so many things great about VG like the world,crafting etc but I just hope the fps hold steady and there is enough of a community to hold me,The other great thing like I told a mate of mine was "if you cant find a class in VG you like then mmo playing isnt for you"

Like I said this will be the last chance I give the game,I really think 1 and half years is enough for any game to pull it together,I just hope it has worked and I aint patching now to be yet majorly let down.

I like how the op stated people that hate the game should stop whinning about the game because they dont own a copy,but the people who post they love the game it is fine for them to come on open forum's and say it is great?If we follow this logic then every forum would just be a fanboi base.

I played the game and didnt enjoy it and have posted my reason's why,the reason for forum's such as MMORPG.com is for player's can hear both side's of the arguement and make up there own mind.

Well if you left WoW you either didnt like it or just got burned out playing it,so why return to it if you didnt enjoy it anymore(also asking people if you should then you arent all the excited about going back).

If you are asking if you should stay with AoC then it sound's like you are not enjoying that either,or why would you ask?

Why not  just leave the MMo market for now until the like's of Aion,WAR or TCoS hit the shelve's then pick it up again,gamming is supposed to be fun and not something you have too do.

can I ask what level you are,as I know that traveling from the like's of ep mountains to the noble district takes way to long (unless you jump off a cliff and res nearer the spot)I mean 6 zone's alot(i do mean alot)of ingame travel just to reach your spot and some of the quests just send you right back again......

Online games that have zones, I’d say this is fairly common, Everquest 2 has zones, City of Heroes, City of Villains, Eve Online, even World of Warcraft has zones in the form of the two continents, Outland, and the starting areas for the last two races added. I’m not certain where you would get an idea that MMO’s don’t have zones?

 

Instances once again even World of Warcraft has instances; Dungeons and raids in that game take place in an instance. City of Heroes and Villains relies heavily on instances and like Age of Conan has multiple instances of busy zones, it has never been an issue raised with that game. Every online game on the market has features you are going to like and probably some you’ll hate, it’s not the developer’s job to try and please everyone.

 

In the end you look at an MMO’s feature set and decide for yourself if you wish to play or not, if it has to many things you don’t care for, then I’m sure with the size of the market currently you can find another game you prefer.

I think  tbh,the zonning in this game is far apart from the likes of WoW,I suggest you play the game 1st then add your thought's to topics like this,at the moment your thought's come across as very uneducated.

Well it could only take maybe 30 secs or sometimes it could take a bit longer,Also like I said in my 1st post if you go from ep mountains to the noble district you will go through 6 zone's aswell as alot of travelling,so yes then it matters.

If your board supports pci express save maybe another $30-$50 and get yourself a 8800gt 512mb,you will be glad you did.

Though it wouldnt hurt to give somemore spec's like psu and os etc but to buy a 7900 card now is just wasting cash.

Well since your xfire says you played a whole 1 hour this week I am sure it doesnt bother you,you probally never zoned this week at all,try when you are level 52 say and have to get from ep mountains to the noble district and tell me it doesnt matter...

There is no way this game will change,it will always be instanced thats is the way it is made,they sacrificed the constent world and went to instanced for the graphic's,yep they said that themselve's,I quote"we enjoy nice graphics and I am sure our player base will also so we had to instance the zone's to make this possible"
