Its all very well showing these"systems" but at the end of the day you are missing the like's of a monitor(is they need a whole new system)also the most important things like a card and ram and OS,you can show off "hey look a got this for 299" but you aint got half of what you need to run games,I have to ask what is your point?

I would assume if you already have a PC then you have a monitor and OS. My price of $1300 does include Vista 64 home basic. Did you even read that list? It included the ram and video card.

well i hate to piss on your parrade but I got my system for less than a 1000 euro and it has 32 bit vista 2 gb ram(moved upto 4gb for 40 extra euro)8800gt 512mb card, duo core 2.66 a 500w antec earthwatts psu, also you like so many others seem to think you need a psu that would be enough to power a small electrical buisness to run your pc.

Changing a pagefile is easy enough,I only run 600mb which is fine but when I see ppl using 1.6gb it is quite insane,To change it simply goto your control panel, select system then advanced options,it is the very 1st option then that you see for memory usage,Most ppl that use so much have never ever checked this and just leave it at default, hope that helps.

your using 1637mb on your page file?

My god mate what are you using it for?

Nope you need the other format so you can play all games,a game card will only allow you to play that game it costs you a bit more to play all the games from SOE.

Wouldnt it be more useful that you posted your dxdiag so ppl could see where the problem was instead of say 30 ppl posting there's?

If you need help best to post your problems and setup instead of asking ppl that can run the game to post there's as this will differ alot.

At release I could only run the system at 50-75% max graphic settings and I had same problems in cities.  Right now I have graphics set to max and have very little problems in cities.  Of course, the smaller populations could have something to do with cities running better and possibly all the other performance problems.. but I doubt it.

I'm going to stick with the game for awhile and several of my friends are talking about coming back.  I would recommend giving it another try.  You already have an account, so your only out 1 month fee.  I dropped $50 for AoC and I won't even finish up the 30 free days.

Yep I have to admit even with the bugs etc the 2 other times I played vanguard I still had more fun than I did with AoC,I have also already removed AoC from my hard-drive as it wasnt for me and the disc's can sit on the shelves never to be looked at again,I have always enjoyed the idea of VG but with the problems it had and also the population I gave up the 2 times I tried but always hoped it would come to the top as the idea and game is there it just needed sorting out.

Thankls malivius can I ask 1 more question m8 as you seem to have the same setup as me,my biggest problem before was entering a city and running through it,I had to do the stop and do 2 or 3 360 turns so I could move again every few sec's are your fps holding steady in cities or do you still have alot of 8fps until it loads the screen and give you 30-40 fps?

Again ty m8.

I wouldnt touch AoC for at least another 4months not for the fact it isnt finished(no mmo is)but for the fact there isnt much(if anything to do 53+)also outside of combat agian there is nothing to do as crafting etc just doesnt work.

I am in the same boat as you at moment and tbh am thinking of turning my back on mmo's until the likes of TCoS and Aion hit the shelves,If I could find a copy of EQ 2 RoK then I would for sure give that a go or if Vanguard picks up its subs I may go back there,if like alot of ppl are saying it runs better now,Yet again the mmo games have hit another brick wall with lots of promise and no follow through,we can only wait and hope the next title's give us what we crave.....

Ok I played Vanguard at release and again at the start of 2008(alot of people where saying then how great it was now).

My questions are before I go to the load the game and try again are...

1.How is the preformance now,is it more stable even in cities?

2.Is zonning still there?

3.I am from europe can anyone say how the population is?

I did enjoy alot of what Vanguard had to offer,My bear shammy was 1 of the best guys I have every played on a mmo but the problems I listed above really tore that apart,The population was ofc the worst, lets be honest you cant play a mmo without alot of people around you, also the preformance was pretty terrible at times,I run a 2.66 duo core with 4gb ram 8800gt 512mb card and vista 32bit,so would like to run it smoothly.

Thanks for any answer's guys and try to keep them troll free and honest :)

It isnt the worst launch thats for sure but it is still released well before it was ready, not anywhere near enough content 50+,ingame chat(atmosphere is non-exsistent)in game travel a joke,I mean you could spend half your time running through level 25-35 zone's when you are level 50+ to get where you want to be,unless ofc if you use the die then res which is stupid but helps alot, crafting is pointless atm even if it does work(you could get lucky).

Sorry but for around 4 levels now I have done nothing but grind mobs and now even the combat system is getting dull, yet again another game pushed out before it was ready heavily dependant on the 1st 30 levels being fun and the rest not,I guess if you play very very casual you will be ok(dont try to be level 40+ before August and hope they have added the "new zone's" by then,I have my doubts).

This could be a game to check out in maybe 4-5 months,I will keep my eye on it but for now I wont be subbing,At the end off the day if I want to kill the same guys over and over I could do that on an off-line game without paying every month.

I have to ask with the release of AoC what does it bring to the table that is new?

So many times I have come across "wanted posters" where as you kill so many of them (around 25)and retake the quest.

I think back to the time when I played a guy dodging barrels and climbing ladders to save a girl just to do it all again in donkey kong,is there really a difference?

Sure the graphics are better but has gamming really moved on at all?

I am really crying out for a sandbox title that does excactly what it says on the tin.A game where you are in control of your devoplement and not on rails like donkey kong.

Seems either devolopers or gammers have missed the point here,or just both are happy in the same spot"if it aint broke dont fix it"paradise.

Nathan you really are brushing against a hard bush,I mean I dont know what level you got to but I was level 60 and it was a nightmare maybe you got further but cant you even admit that the game is unfinished?

From level 1-40 was nice, questing wise that is,the combat was good and also the story lines,But my god after 40 and for sure after 50 the questing was terrible even the story lines took a dive, like I said before the atmosphere in game is almost none excistent and the bugs just get so much worse,Yes I know they have said they will release a new"level 55-60 zone in the summer"we will wait and see if that happens.

Atm I see this game as a run of the mill mmo with nice graphics and some promise but ppl wondering if they should play ....nope give it some time to move on ...and move on quite a bit,so many things dont work like crafting, quests, zone's not loading and never mind end game there isnt much to do mid level game.

Nonsense, that is the only word I can think off, come level 54+it gets worse, yep the grind is a nightmare and I do mean Nightmare, you have almost no quests and even if you do you are scared to do them as it increases the grind later,I am sorry but it is ok to say you enjoy the game but to give out bad advice is something else, atm the fun in this game is from level 1-40 after that you will feel the grind and from level 54+it is nothing but grind.

Also take away the bugs etc that come with a new release the lack of world chat is terrible, you are basically only in touch with your guild and ooc(the ooc is zone bound)so you could only be talking with 100 ppl and trust me not all talk,it can get very very quiet, now I could be wrong here but doesnt mmorpg.com have in it's rules that there has to be ameeting place where 500+ppl can be together?again maybe I am wrong but doesnt AoC have zone limits of 300?

I dont know for sure about the last 2 points there but I do know that this game lacks in atmosphere and questing, btw a wanted poster to kill 25 ppl with 5k xp to complete it over and over again doesnt quailify as questing in my book.

I just picked up a copy of GoW and tried to install it,It seems to install fine and decompresses the files but once that is done it just seems to stop,I have tried to run it from the folder,1st it says I dont meet the min requirements for the game, which isnt true I have a duo 2.66 with 4gb ram and a 8800gt 512mb card with vista os,it does ask if I want to continue which I do and get to the main option game screen but crash after about 30 secs,I never even have to add my product key.

Has anyone else had this problem,I have tried twice to install with the same outcome,is it just the disk is corrupt or am I missing something else?

Thanks guys for any answer's.

I mean the thing is ppl have so many things also running they dont use,yes this lowers your preformance...how many ppl are running the trial of office manager?how many ppl have windows messenger?

Things like these all add to your system and sometimes in ways you would not believe,If you dont need them get rid of them,It is that simple.

Yea you know, it really amazes me that they actually sell laptops loaded with Vista that only have 1 gig of ram on them. Vista needs 2 gb MINIMUM and thats only to use the operating system, let alone play games.

8 GB of RAM in my opinioin is what will be needed to touch begin to touch on where XP got with 2GB in its day.  Well it's still in use, include me in that use, but hopefully I'm understood.

It will probably depend on how Vista develops through updates all in all.

32 bit vista can only uses 3.5 gb ram so 8 gb is a bit far off.
