Plus the fact they are making the new 40k RTS game currently and probably wouldn't want both of those out.

Also Warhammer was there original IP first and foremost. This is the one they got known for so obviously they would want it made first. And as the guy above said THQ has rights games right now so they wanted to find someone else to handle the original IP. Warhammer is alot older and has alot more lore. Yes WOW came to the front first but you know alot of people love the WAR world and want to play it.

I mean right now most stuff copies and evolves off of other IP's. Really they wanna take what's been (and people like) and make it there own and add there own twist and not make something 'completely" different and have it fail. It's all about money and what works makes money.

If its the UI people are used to give it to em with your own twist. I mean every game I see has drawn off of something that came before it. So in everyway another game is a clone that came before it. One reason people say WAR and WOW are similiar is basicly the art style. But if you have ever played the WAR tabletop the game looks JUST like the figures.

This is the way WAR looks period. And yeah it may not have the BEST grapchics like AOC but they want it to be friendly and people to jump right into PVP. You see the mess with performance AOC has. The thing is alot of people comps cannot handle all the eyecandy at once.

If you ever read some developement stuff you will see developers for PC games have a hard time when coming out with a game to run on everyones PC. Because you got the low end crowd who upgrades barely enough every few years to get by then you got the hardcore who spend thousands on a rig. But some games do cater to the more hardcore who spend more but MMO's rely on monthly subs to survive and you have to think they got alot more going on on screen then like a FPS.

So the devs have to balance out gameplay to performance. You may say well so and so game in development looks alot better then WAR well this may or may not be true but Mythic chose gameplay over eyecandy and I think they are using a decent engine to run it on. The zones have to be bigger them some. You have to look to alot of AOC is instanced because it looks so good thats one pitfall of the graphics on these large scaled games.

Sorry I know I made that into something it shouldn't have been. But as you see everything can be considered a clone of something else.

Warhammer Age of Reckoning=WAR They do not hae to use the "of". The online part is kind of known. They wanted something to stand out and WAR does it and fits the game cause its all about WAR hehe.

Pre-BC:  40 man.   Only way to get good gear and progress in raiding or compete in PVP was by raiding 40 man...non...stop.

BC:  25 man.  Guilds splintered.  Good gear falls from the sky like rain.  Epic is no longer epic.  The only reason to raid is to see new encounters a few times.  Spending hours and hours raiding is less attractive.

I agree with this with the new PVP stuff being added it seems to me they have been alot more towards PVP as of late then PVE. So I think WOTLK will make or break the game for some now to see what direction its going to go in. I miss the days of 1-60 thats when it was fun to me.

Yeah I to see WOTLK seriously changing alot of stuff for WOW. They are getting alot more PVP stuff also and right now alot of the awesome gear for Arena and pvp out matches or equals raid gear. And you can arena in half the time normally and not be int he same boat raiding. The same guilds will progress through but look at this BC stuff and how easy guilds go through stuff now. Before on my server (Dragonblight) Pre-BC we had like 5-6 guilds if even who had cleared MC and BWL and such now these guilds in BC were just like everyone else (except for 2 of them who was far and beyond anyone). I came back guilds had split because of raiding had hindered how many people they needed.

So this is also what I noticed guilds now seem to break-up,reform,or just die alot more now then they used to. One reason is because the raiding is made shorter and people get bored so more people leave so it leaves more room in bigger guilds to go and people constantly leave and the guilds seem to be stuck more behind.

But yeah WOTLK doing different stuff to with raiding and adding alot to eh pvp front. WOW has been gearing more towards PVP lately in my eyes wanting more people to arena and such. WOTLK will be the start of WOW's downfall i my eyes I do not know what it was but BC was just horrible and changed so much. I love WOW to death I guess I just miss the old raids and such even though they were huge they were fun alot more socializing for me and getting to know people.

I cannot say what if any game will have the raid content it does. But I mean if your just into raiding stick around to see how WOTLK turns out and keep on playing.

Yeah like everyone else has said I think most features they mention are in game. And the stuff that wasn't going to be the quickly said it would be delayed (off the top of my head the sizing of Orcs as they grew). There release dates as they said were "set in mud" although this new release of fall is more solid mud (I actually do expect them to make this time window its the perfect time as to beat WOW expansion to market and such). And from what I hear the dev team is very open with the beta testers and also I hear they take there complaints and such to heart when making changes if they see something isn't working for a good deal of people then they change it. They seem (to me at least) to wanna make a great game that everyone can enjoy.

CE is for "open beta" this will be probably a few weeks to 1 month before the game comes out. This has nothing do with the closed beta selection.  The only way to up your chances is for codes from specific events or the BOOM! comic code. Which I believe the BOOM! code would up your chances to like 20%.

Well i think they wanted the 2 pet classes to be a little more even. I mean if the squig herders got 5 pets or something they could have 1 squig of each or something. And then the White Lions would want more. Do you see what I am saying? They want one really tough pet to be controlled not 5 smaller less powerful ones.

well let me re-phrase not GW and something that is complete free. GW you have to buy the software.

I was looking at some F2P normally I find them crap. But there are so many of them whats the best rated or most popular ones out there?

The thing is they both have the same visual style these models look like the tabletop models. The modesl are big and bulky looking in fact I think this is about the only way they could get WAR to look. I mean its a fantasy game and they have certain stuff in there lore so what change up the lore so it doesn't compare at all with WOW? War is a lot older IP and this is there look. Would you rather it look like AOC? I mean the stuff isn't meant to look that way.  So check this out:

So imo it looks like it is supposed to.

So the next big wave. So with the servers being down I know they did say in early July they would come back up with the Guild Invites and new testers coming in so my guess is thats probably the best time to do it.

I know some folks said certain codes they have gotten from shows and such haven't been picked but from what I understand those kinds of codes up there chances also and were picked each time new testers come in. The BOOM! was a huge list I am guessing so thats why it will be announces to all those people stop asking and so they know when they have lost lol.

I believe you do. its customary of all MMO's to give a free month with purchase.

I emailed Mythic and my response was they haven't chosen the winners yet. But I do know in July that guilds and new testers will be coming in. And they haven't said if all the winners will be let it an one time.

What I figure is the 1 in 5 will just give you better chances when they do more invites. I mean I think any new winners could be from any of the promotions. So just keep looking until its almost time for release or you get a key :). I bought 3 myself so....here shoping they pick some winners soon.

I tried the game in Open Beta and PVP weekend.

But I would like try the release so if anyone has a key I would like one also.

Well I am actually more of a PVE person unfotunately I never played DAOC. I know WOW PVP sucks and was so unbalanced. But I did used to love leading raids on towns on WOW before the introduced the BGs and Arenas. The open world PVP was what I loved I thinkt he first mont h or so I would sit there all day and we would go back and forth thats what I loved.

Also I played AOC beta and PVP weekend and I didn't care to much for it. I try not to bash it alot though because people play what they like I mean I do not want people saying I "suxxor" because I play WAR when they may not like it. Every game isn't for everyone.

But the fact is I cannot wait for WAR it looks be what I am looking for right now and something to really bring me in.

Well, there it is in plain English from others..i.e: NPD and other websites...not Funcom.

Also I in no way like or play the game but on Amazon if you click PC then its number 9. Thats the total charts and most likely will get dominated by console games and such in that respect. If you check the PC charts on there though its 9 and WAR CE is number 3. It seems Spore Creature Creater on there is "topping the charts lol" although that game does look fun...But when AOC came out it was number 1 on that PC list for awhile so thats where they got that from.
