I've been using it for months and have NO problems at all.  Even old games run on it.  Go ahead and live under a rock but stop spreading false information because some Unix slut tells you Vista doesn't work.

Now to be honest, I did disable the stupid UAC control so it wouldn't ask me everytime I wanted to do something if I wanted to do it or not.  That's the only thing I didn't like.

u do know that about every 90% pc magazines review of vista is that its a buggy POS and that it is slower than xp pro... wonder why>?

b/c its a POS and it IS slower than XP ><

with the lackluster boring games out now like WOW and LOTRO, all crap games. If you want a tru game , and its f2p, but a game where levels mean something and where at the end of the day you feel accomplishment with your character then try this game out.

there's no need for these kinds of threads as it only promotes being an asshole

You should write SOE and let them know VG is EQ3.  Seems they are not taking it that seriously.  Maybe you should remind them that it is an important SOE product.

haha important SOE product, haha its the laughing stock of the MMO market its the poster child of failures...

its the worst game to be made in long time, it has no population....

its a homeless MMo that SOE adopted  b/c homeless MMO's remind smedley of the good days when he could eat baby kitties without remorse.

vanguard is a joke.

From SOE forums

APW has a max size of 12?

The Ancient Port Warehouse has always been intended for 12 man raiding parties, and I think that will be evident when you step foot inside. We did do some initial testing with 24 and 18 man groups and the performance simply wasn’t at a level we were happy with for gameplay. As performance increases our max raid size is something we’re going to continue to evaluate, but in the meantime the first raid experience will be targeted and locked to 12 people.

Well atleast I am glad to hear the 12 man raid. 24 and 18 well it is not something like 40 man raiding luckely enough, so I hope that the intended cap is around those amount of people.

Well they set it to 12 man because of performance and not gameplay, this post sums up two issues I have always had with VG,

1. Performance - dont need to say much there.

2. Non-instanced.. sound good on paper but in reality its a nightmare, this post says you can camp and farm bosses over and over, where is the challenge I ask you? and nothing stops you from going with 24man raid either. You just cant get the level on complexity in VG Bosses as you can in say WoW bosses.  Mostly tank'n'spank in VG.

Not a flame but these are 2 concerns I have.

how about actually having enough people to group with?? Lol

I hate voip, its basically people the others how to play. You got one smart person who has to babysit the rest of the players who do not know how to play, now get a group of people who DO now how to play the game, you dont need vent. Stop playing with morons and you won't need vent or ts. Vent/ts snobs run rampant now and I will still be a better player than them any day of the week b/c I know how to play, they do not. And if their babysitter isnt home to get on voip then they are out of luck

Let me clear something up for some of you that are confused. The people who are upset about the SOE deal understand that SOE is only going to be handling billing, advertising, distribution, etc. Whatever...the Vanguard guys said the exact same thing.

The problem we have is that we don't want to play a game that benefits SOE financially in any way. Even if they were only making a nickel off of my monthly subscription I wouldn't play.

So as much as I was looking forward to this game I won't be buying it. Neither will many other people who have been burned by SOE.

QFT and agreed!

um I really cannot think of a  atm successful SOE game

Read my post again...it says other then WOW name one NON-SOE game, as in name one game not ran by SOE that is still running strong other the WOW.

MMOs come and go like a monthly period these days, and none of them can hold a persons attention longer then a couple months, because none of it is new. Its all the same old crud over and over again. Imagine standing in line to watch a great new ground breaking fantasy movie and all you get is a movie about a bunch of hobnobits that have to take a bracelet to the ocean of brightwaters to dispose of it forever with the aid of thier friends lego-lass and brandolf the not so wise.

Won't these people ever learn anything SOE touches turns to shit. Look at every game in SOE's stable including Vanguard and that will tell you all you need to know about this new game coming out.  It will either be unfinished, unpolished, bugged to the hilt or any number of negative things wrong with it.

Yes, it's a new game and many people will go check it out but don't be surprised if it turns out to be another Vanguard.  Players know enough by now to know SoE's grubby dirty hands are all over this one and judging by their track record this one is sure to bomb too.

agreed, but they wont listen bro. let them get screwed over liek the millions of the other SOE customers..

i meanr seriously if SOE was a reputable company..then guess what.. there would not be such a huge stigma on them and any company that: "oh they doing our billing servers etc" type deals, which lead to vanguardesque situations.

Its about the money no matter what Pr spin is given.  I dont blame them for wanting to better their status as a developer. But why SoE?  Knowing that their current reputation with gamers is rocky at best.  I suppose we shall see in a few months how good/bad this move was.  I hate to be negative but due to SoE's customer treatment tactics in the past will effect the games player base. I have a hard time giving money to SoE based soley on how i was treated in several games.  Hey SoE made their reputation not the paying customers.

agreed and QFT. just b/c the devs say it so  it is so? rofl, they lie and lie in order to try and continue to get publicity and potential sales, but they siged with SOE so they lost sales. they are morons.

trust me we SOE boycotters are enough...look at this :

vangaurd has maybe 20k subs at the msot. And I am sure the we will not play SOE game people are far greater than 20k.. thats a whole game community right there that if they did not  play or did play would be the game with zero population or double the current population. thats huge. but ok bye go play your shitty Pirates game that is owned by SOE unofficially

The number of people who may not be fans of Sony? Sure, 20000 might not be a stretch. I'm one of them. I've played EQ2 after all; I understand the frustration.

The number who'll go so far as to not play any of their games? Far less than 20000. Far less. I'm not going to slap an exact number on it, but the vocal minority always makes themselves appear larger than they are. This really isn't different.

This number you're throwing out isn't going to be more than a few thousand. Drop in the bucket. And I'm talking in total too -- not all of this few thousand would've been interested in POTBS anyway.

Flying Lab's answer to this concern by the way comes from the fact that they read online forums, which by human nature is filled with more negative than positive things. Beta testers read forums -- the majority of people who play online though, hardly ever post to them.

well to you, you think the market of mmo players is in the 100k marks or near that. in reality its a huge business.  millions upon millons of players have been screwed by SOE..negative publicity is now being brought upon POTBS because of this very poor decision. so in fact that will hurt the game.. as simple as i can put it

you know what, if POTBS didnt screw itself over by signing up with SOE, they would not have to come to these forums and try to deal with this PR disaster that they created in order to save a few subs.

Wow.  I don't think I've ever wanted to say this to a potential fan/customer on a public message board before, but now I do:

Buh-bye. I'd like to say I'll miss having you try my game, but... after that post, I won't.  I'm glad you won't be playing.

The sad thing is that I believe he will be here posting his "I told you so" post and dancing on your game's casket 6 months after it launches... and it won't really be Sony's fault.  The market just isn't friendly to mediocre, low-budget titles.  It's a bummer, but it's true.  One thing's for sure, your CS skills are consistent with what I would expect from your newfound publishing partner.  You guys should get along just fine.  As for this guy, maybe you should tell him to speak with his feet.... like all those former SWG players did.

very good post and agree fully b/c it will happen. lol You are a smart man =D what game you playing currently bor?

Have you read whats on the Flying Labs site? Seriously, why cry over the fact that FL got excactly what they were looking for in a publisher ......

Look at Vanguard's first announcement below.  It looks the same.  The future of PoTBS will be the same as Vanguard.  It is sad that PC gaming is having so many failures.  We will all be playing on the XBox and PS3 only soon.

VANGUARD: SAGA OF HEROES FINDS A NEW HOME

Sigil Games Online and Sony Online Entertainment In Talks To Co-Publish Sigil’s Ground-Breaking New Game

May 5, 2006 – Carlsbad & San Diego, CA – Sigil Games Online and Sony Online Entertainment LLC (SOE), a global leader in the online games industry, today announced that Sigil is working with Microsoft Game Studios on an arrangement to acquire the rights to its highly anticipated massively multiplayer online (MMO) game, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes. These efforts have resulted in a tentative agreement for Vanguard to be co-published by both Sigil Games Online and SOE. All three companies will be showing the game at the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) as they work closely together for a successful transition. Vanguard: Saga of Heroes is scheduled to launch this winter.

“As the development process is ongoing and constantly shifting, it became clear that MGS and Sigil had varying visions and direction for the title’s development,” said Brad McQuaid, CEO of Sigil Games Online. “In the best interest of Vanguard, it was decided that we would buy back the publishing rights from Microsoft.”

As co-publisher of Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, Sigil assumes greater control of marketing and PR, while maintaining responsibility for game development, community relations, media relations, customer support, and quality assurance. Under the terms of the agreement, SOE will provide distribution, marketing, hosting and back-end support -- including billing and technical support -- for the game. Additionally, SOE is tentatively planning on adding Vanguard, upon its release, to SOE’s Station Access™ subscription plan. Station Access allows players to enjoy all of SOE’s MMO titles for one low monthly price.

“We are very excited to be working with so many old friends at Sigil,” said John Smedley, president, Sony Online Entertainment. “Vanguard looks beautiful and has an incredibly rich game world. It’s the type of game that will appeal directly to SOE’s hundreds of thousands of players and should fit in perfectly with the current line-up of games available in Station Access.”

”This decision was made mutually by Sigil and Microsoft, in the best interest of the long-term goals for the title,” said Phil Spencer, General Manager at Microsoft Game Studios. “As a key Windows development partner, we will continue to work with Sigil to ensure Vanguard’s ongoing success.”

Vanguard: Saga of Heroes is the next generation of massively multiplayer online games. The journey takes place in the fantasy setting of Telon, a vast and ancient world of magic, intrigue and adventure. Facing the challenges of a war torn world, the diverse people here struggle to rebuild their once great civilizations. A fragile alliance has been struck, with the lands set upon by invading forces, the races must band together to survive.

Vanguard: Saga of Heroes is currently in a closed beta phase. The game will remain available via Fileplanet for existing beta testers during the transition to SOE. New information will be sent out to testers as the changeover occurs.

For more information about Vanguard: Saga of Heroes please visit www.vanguardsoh.com.

haha thank you for bringing that back up, becuase it is the EXACT same scenario. The onyl difference is we have never heard of FLS, or atleast I have not. or of rick or w/e.

Now sigil was hevily funded and had some rich peopel behind it, people who carry weight or used to, in the MMO world:

Brad McQuaid, Keith Parkinson, Jeff BUtler among the ubers that were there.. and they had to sell out to SOE..but this independent company supposedly has enough  money rofl..yea right.

trust me i wont, i dont plan on playing games that you do not have even the basic principles of marketing down apt to distribute your product. and when you sell out to SOE even more so. don't worry I won't even bother to look at your product, in fact Ill do my best to hide the boxes when I make it to the store =D!
