Aye Natascha and Henning are both very good artists in their own right. I believe N. has retired somewhat because of her illness.

Interesting to see that they have gotten over 100k beta application with hardly any advertising.

This is indeed very good news. Back from my 6th ban, hopefully there will not be not another concerning the vaportheme

hehe, retaliate to much?

Yeah, perchance too much. I got a 120 day ban for flaming once. Luckily for me, Lara herself cut down the sentence.

Funny thing is, as a founder, Funcom couldn't really fire him. Wonder how bad the pressure was to make him resign. Wonder if investors perhaps had a say in his decision. I'm betting those stocks the fanbois kept saying didn't matter did indeed.

He hasn't just left Funcom, he's been run out of the entire industry.

I was wondering about this myself. As a founder, he should be immune to this. Usually people have to leave after doing something wrong. As there weren't any news the last few days that I am aware of, , I'm guessing some bad news are coming...

You know what this tells me?  Since Aventurine was so busy with ESWC, it caused a delay in the launch of DFO.  Read it here first folks....

I don't understand why they'd get wrapped up in something that huge when October is suppose to be the huge beta launch month.  I don't understand how they feel they need to be distracted during beta launch month.

I'm not seeing Aventurine sinking alot of time into this. Some cash, maybe a Aventurine e-sport team and Tasos doing some interviews.

I belive OP is refering to the freedom of Daggerfall.

There is a saying. If something is falling like a Funcom stock", things are very bad indeed. DF is in second place though. So I'm not seeing it.

FC is not going down. They do have some bad press these days. The Norwegian bank DNB Nor downgraded the stock after their investigations in xfire and found out that players used more time on windows cabal than AoC.

The Darkfall devs maintain "2008" for release. Therefore given they are taking beta apps now, it would make sense that beta is likely to happen in October. They have also said the beta is expected to be more of a play test than a standard "beta" test, and they expect it to last "several weeks".

Note that it has been said in the official forums that a release to North America may not happen simultaneously, therefore those of us who live there are likely to be waiting until early 2009 to get our hands on it. Unless of course, they give me a way to buy it and play on the Euro servers for starters...

I think Tasos said something about allowing americans on the european server. I tested out WAR on american servers with pretty decent responsetime. I guess the other way around will work ok as well.

Time + Money = Product

In most projects you want a high quality product, for little money and and a short dev time. The problem is, you may choose only two out of the three. You may have a high quality product with a short dev time, but that is going to be expensive. Or you can have a high quality product, for little cash, but that will give you a longer dev time. That's the universe we live in.

First of all, october 2008, isn't a date.

October

December

No one knows. Aventurine dev has stated a goal of release in december and their publishing partner has written about beta in october.

Rebuttal: "Where's the crafting? Where's POH? Where's the resource gathering? How does construction work? How does skill progression work?"

Responce1: "The graphics are great!!"

Even if the PvP combat system is awesome, even if the PvE combat system and AI is awesome, the game will fail. The crafting system is so pathetic they didn't feel they could show more than a second. Construction is almost certainly not a tradeskill, and the buildings are probably just purchased templates. There probably are no real tradeskills in the game other than weapon and armor crafting and mage crafting. My guess, since they chose not to show them, is they are all the same lame process of using a recipe.

And without trade skills, this'll be some niche game of PvP players killing other PvP players in supposedly new and novel ways. All the players that PvPers salavate over getting to kill, the crafters, merchanters, explorers, and skillers... Will be off playing a game that actually offers it (like Runescape.... Vanguard.... LotR.... etc....).

Proceed with rubuting with "the graphics are great!" or "naval and mounted combat!!!"

According to some, the world was about to fail yesterday. Yet it didn't.

I place you in that category. So in love with their own opinions that in time belive they are facts.

I mean, if you didn't see crafting in the video, it cannot be there. If you put your head in the ground, the world isn't there either. How about you test the crafting system, THEN make up you mind.
