Failure and success are a matter of perspective, doom and gloom posts are sister to rise and shine posts, and even poor people need entertainment. As hypocrtical as it is of me to say, you should appreciate what you have more, or atleast think about it more before you project your financial logic onto the rest of us. |

Sounds pretty fun, I would definitely consider this if I had a facebook account. It's a pretty good idea for a marketing promotion too. Seems like they put some thought into this. |

Originally posted by RedwoodSap That is a perfectly fair arguement. There is only one thing I can dispute and thats on raping limited areas without consequence. You mention lag as a sort of natural occurance acting as a control to prevent "exploitation" of the best/easiest resources. I can't argue that it would most likely have that effect, but there are already consequences before lag is considered. Unless the zone is so huge and plentiful that a countless number of people can take advantage of it (not likely), the most optimized path easily becomes the most painful path because the plentiful resources are shared between such a large number of players. A good example would be any game where group exp grinding takes place in public domain. Quite often there is a camp considered the "best" camp for whatever reason it may be, and it is not rare to see more than one group try to crowd into such an area. Usually in this situation it doesn't take long for conflict to arise. To make it short, there should be other mechanics in place that force the players to move that take effect before the known networking limits are reached, preventing lag from ever becoming a problem. Consider it a sort of balance between hardware limits and game design. I think we can speak from experience when we say this isn't always the case, and sometimes a primary reason for moving to a new area is lag. This is just a simpleton's theory though, feel free to point out any flaws in my logic. |

I could have sworn it's been that way for some time already. Mabye I just read something that said they were planning on making the change. |

Using lag to force players to hunt and explore new areas seems like an excuse for poor design. Instead, the game should make it an interesting activity that players would do on their own. It's probably a good idea to try to prevent lag rather than use it as a mechanic. Otherwise it would be like Pepsi making their 10,000th+ cans of Pepsi taste like crap because they want consumers to try Diet Pepsi. |

I also think people are misunderstanding the video, atleast blowing it a bit out of proportion. I've even seen people complain because of the overpopulated zone instancing. You DO NOT want to play with over 500 other players in the same place, you may think you do, but you'll learn. From what I understood, the game is instanced in areas that people will appreciate it. |

I keep telling myself it's time to try out some magic user classes but just looking at the melee animations in this game it's impossible to decide. I'm so used to every other MMO I've played where all 20 of my melee class' abilities share 3 different animations. I'll probably just close my eyes and click on one... |

It's way too soon after the TCoS Q2 launch announcement to conclude they will have to delay again. I think people just say stuff to say stuff, unless of course they are privy to information we are not. |

I played for about a week during the open subscription event around the new year. At the time I was running on a 7950GT, 3 gb of ram, and an AMD opteron 175. I could run on max settings but never got FPS over 30. The game did run significantly smoother although I still noticed some hangs here and there. I was on the pvp server with a new character and the low end population is definitely lacking. I only played my level 40 for about an hour, and saw a total of 3 people around that desert city. Mabye I'm not used to FFA PVP cities but it felt very empty for a hub with decent level range. Perhaps they were all very stealthy or the hubs are a bit different than what I remember. Chunking has improved although I was bit gun shy because of its old state. I still experienced numerous crashes but no where near the number of the past. The graphics are still a bit glitchy but the game still looks way better than any other game when settings are cranked up. My conclusion is that the game has improved and is certainly playable, but still isn't as solid as some of its competition. Expect some troubles with the game but nothing as extreme as mystery rollbacks, disappearing gear, or other game stopping bugs. I do have to agree with the OP on the character creation/selection screen, it still makes me grimace.
*edit* I should probably add the reason why I did not continue playing the game. One day I experienced 3 crashes in a row trying to enter the game, but the real reason I decided the game still wasn't worth my money was because of the combat. Exactly the same as every other MMO, it felt bland and boring, which would also explain why I am not playing for any other MMO at the moment. I just made the decision after the crashing incident. So technically, it' not entirely Vanguards problem. |

I feel like there are games meant for consoles and there are games meant for PC. Here is my opinion on how the genre should split. PC: MMORPG's, shooters, puzzle games, strategy Console: RPG's, racing, action/adventure(like resident evil style games) That being said PC games seem to just get recycled with better graphics everytime. The trend is obvious in shooters even though they try to be "innovated". MMO's seem to be blurring together. How many different yet similar games have you played that are like the warcraft title. I guess the same could be said about console games but atleast it seems like they've got a bit more creativity on their side. I agree with a previous post though, its impossible for the PC to just dissappear in this situation, it would be much more likely that consoles will just meld into the PC market. Just look at the new shift for consoles moving towards connectivity. Eventually they will all be as on-line as any PC. The only difference would be useability for work related applications. Then again, why couldn't you use those applications? Doesn't the PS3 run an OS like Linux or something? Atleast I know you can load it onto the machine. Mabye someday Sony will be a direct competitor with a company like Dell in the PC market.(I think sony woudl squash dell) |

My original impression when they first posted this video on the tcos website was that it was shot at the same time as the 500 player stress test. Mabye I happened to see the video and read the stress test article at the same time and mistakeningly came to this conclusion. Judging by the general response of some of the other posters the two instances are entirely unrelated, but it is much more impressive to look at from my point of view. |
