The population numbers are a quarter of what they used to be a couple months ago, so it is good to see that at least now they can take care of the customers that they have left.

Read my mind. People are going to be doing lvl 80 dungeons soon... Illidan will be all but forgotten (excluding his slogan of course). They're simply preparing for WotLK.

WoW is the Wal-Mart or McDonald's of MMOs. They have nothing to fear. The only two things that can kill WoW now is 1.) Blizzard or the more likely 2.) Letting WoW die from old age if you catch what I mean. Then again the whole "this game will kill this game" gets a little tiring after a while. Why does it matter what games kills another game other then to say "my game is better then yours", which is a matter of opinion and childish at that. WAR is doing great, short and simple. But it ain't going to be killing anything. That's about it, nothing else to discuss when it comes to this issue.

Well, the thing about the customization that bugs me the most is the actual reasoning for not customizing. Like others said, it's so it's easier for players to identify a class from a good distance away. To me, this is a horrible reason and I really do hope that, for WARs decision making sake, that it was simply because they did not wish to put the money into more customization instead of that reasoning. And even then that's a horrible reason.

Greetings!

Your feedback is very important to us and it’s always our goal to make your play experience an even more enjoyable one.

In response to popular demand, you’ll now be able to queue for all of the scenarios available in your current tier, across all three pairings. For instance, if you’re in Nordland, you can queue for the Nordenwatch scenario as usual. You can also queue up for Khaine’s Embrace (the Tier 1 scenario in the High Elf vs. Dark Elf pairing) and the Gates of Ekrund (the Tier 1 scenario on the Dwarf vs. Greenskin pairing), all without leaving Nordland. No travel is required at all; just click the WAR symbol on your interface as you normally would, and use the arrows at the top of the window to scroll through the different scenarios.

We know many have been waiting for this feature and we have a lot more great additions coming on the horizon. We look forward to your continued feedback as we work to take WAR to the next level…WAAAGH!!!

This is great, was about the only thing i could ask for...

This was a really needed change. Thank goodness this was implemented, I was getting so sick of Khaine's embrace considering I play all the sissy races (the dark and high elves).

I had this exact problem with my old computer in OB.

Since I bought myself a new computer since then, I simply assumed the problem was that my old computer did not support the pixel or vertex shaders. But considering you're using two 8800GTX's, that probably isn't a correct conclusion. Maybe it has to do with your drivers, as you say you updated your drivers since you played in beta and head-start. If you can remember what they were, use the drivers that you originally had during those times if it worked fine then. If that doesn't work I'm at a loss, that's all I know of about the rainbows of doom.

Aye. Tbh, I wouldn't play a game if they tried to have one side come off as completely good. In reality, especially in warfare, no side is good or right or fair. We're all corrupt. It's just the matter of how we go about business and what side we say we belong to that makes a difference, and other then that we are all people. That's what I like alot in games based on warfare; they make sure no side is right and get somewhat philosophical. WAR is close but really more about the game then the ideology, and the same could be said about WoW. I think the Call of Duty games do it very well.

...Well, along comes WoW which blows the doors off the industry, becomes insanely popular and profitable... So now all those companies who wouldn't go near MMOs before are cranking them out like there's no tomorrow... making sure to copy WoW's model as much as possible so as to ideally pull from that group. They don't just want a slice of the MMO pie... they want a piece of the WoW MMO pie. That's where the money is, and they don't dare deviate too far from it.

<snip>

QFT

I underlined and italicized that one part as it really jumped for me. Too many gaming companies just want the fast and easy route, which I can't blame them for. Alot of companies don't realize though that there is reward in risk. If someone made an MMO with the quality of WoW in a completely different environment with a completely unique game style and different genre, who knows how popular it could become. Another copy of WoW like this game (I'm a fan of this game, but I don't see how anyone doesn't see WAR as riding off the success of WoW) will not be the next WoW. A game that is actually new and different, I'm sure, would do far more successful. FC, although I despise their business antics, did attempt something slightly different with AoC. The combat system was a nice change and a base around medieval times rather then fantasy was (although AoC definitely still constitutes as fantasy) better than goobledyland of the trolls or mushroom palace of the elves. What failed for them was the actual quality of their game, and how FC conducted business.

If we had something like AoC, a game that is similar to WoW in some ways but in others slightly different, while pertaining a great amount of quality and features, then it could be a runaway smash hit. But nobody wants to take that risk when they have a money sink formula right in front of them. It's always easier to go with the flow rather then to try something new or foreign.

It's because no gaming companies are willing to push the envelopes. Every MMO is about elves, dwarves, ogres, and fantasy that has been coming out (a little bit of sci-fi can come again once in a while as well). I'm so sick of the damn fantasy genre. Nobody really gets that if you make a good MMORPG that is hyped enough and has at least some slight difference to WoW, it will be successful. AoC failed with this because their game wasn't finished. WAR will do alright, but not amazing because they're playing it on the safe route.

Trust me, I've been having some great fun with this game but I don't see how people can go about and say that this isn't just another MMO trying to take a free ride off of WoW. It isn't a bad thing, if others did it like WAR has been doing then all WoW copies with extra sprinkles would do semi-successful. These gaming companies need to realize that some of us are freakin' sick of WoW. And we don't want another WoW.

The WP is from my findings a DIY ("Do it yourself") base sort of character, as is the DoK. Probably the easiest class I have played when it comes to PvE. And in PvP, you have advantages and weaknesses. A bad thing about being a healer and a melee type in group situations is that, in alot of situations, you're going to be taking the charge, if not just behind the tank or melee DPS. The enemy is going to go for you first if the ranged healer isn't an idiot and far away. Unless the rest of your teammates help you out you are toast early in the battle. Other then that though, you are quite capable, and that's only when it's big fights of say 5 on 5 or something. In a 1 on 1, 2 on 2, or 3 on 3 situation, your team has an advantage having a DoK or WP on their side. You have decent DPS and, from my findings, actually better heals (I've only played a WP to lvl 12 so take this with a grain of salt). Like another mentioned it is very, very hard to be in a situation where you have downtime during battle. You gain your action points so quickly and almost every attack will charge your healing points.

At the moment I'm finding the melee healers to be really, really powerful if used right. And even in group situations you can do quite well if you can manage healing your teammates while bashing another player while also keeping yourself alive when being a healer standing in the front lines. I'll repeat, it's a good class if used right.

Sorry WoW haters, WotLK will probably overshadow this game. WoW's customer base at this point is at least more than three quarters being long time players. They simply like the way WoW is played. If it's anything like what they did with the BC it will overshadow every other PC launch within a month radius, as history repeats itself... not that WAR isn't a good game, it is just stupid to think that WotLK will help WAR... you guys are thinking as if 1.) people who disliked WotLK are going straight to WAR and 2.) that people won't get bored with WAR and move on to WotLK.

It's kind of a bad time and a good time to launch at this period. They probably would have been better off if they waited until Christmas if you ask me... they could easily have made 1 mil subs going that route, especially with a couple more months of bug fixing that they'd get from it(although the game is pretty damn polished as far as launches go). Hell, maybe we'd still have the 4 missing classes and 4 cities. I personally would have liked to see that.

I dont even predict Warhammer now to last that long.   The population imbalance is accelerating and is going to kill this game, sadly.

I don't think it will be much of a problem for this game. I realize that this company was the makers of DAoC, which was a semi-successful MMO sort of like CoX with a medium playerbase, and it functioned similarly to WAR with RvR and had three factions to deal with.

Considering that game didn't really die out, I assume they did something to control balance between factions (as I'm sure history had repeated itself in that game as in this game). I would think that they have some experience in how to deal with the balance issues, we'll just have to see how it goes.

I would guess that across all primetimes there are about 60k concurrent users.  Which would be like 500k.  With the 1:10 subs versus concurrent.

That is very rough math but it would have to be off by double to meet this projection.

That's a reasonable assumption. I would have honestly guessed maybe around 500k have bought this game so far myself.

My peeve comes from not being able to customize more about my character in the first place.  O well, still a fun game, right?

Lets see you can color their armor, add trophies, pick faces, hair, eye color, skin color, facial hair, jewelry, scars, tattoos, you can customize their stats, their resistances, you get to pick how to spend your career points, you get to decide what sort of tactics they're using for more xp, damages, buffs, etc  what the hell else do you want?  Drawing your own face?  Do you know how expensive it is when you get to over customize every lil polygon of a model?  Very..and thats fine and dandy for games like Vanguard and EQ2 which aren't based around large scale combat but if you put 100 or so EQ2 / Vanguard chars on the same screen and even if your computer is above normal it still lags to high hell and back.

im so sick of this complaint honestly who the hell knows another players toon by face? no one.  Even in EQ2 I only knew who a pesron was by their name all the 'features' people thought ewere so cool were always covered up by armor.

For myself, I don't customize for other people. I customize because it makes the gaming experience more fun for me. I like being able to choose my body type, exactly the way I want my character's face to look, the hair, the "armor" with more then just trophies (or depending on the game, their costume or clothing), all sorts of things. And we're talking about aesthetics, here; not resistances and abilities. But considering that you probably knew what we were talking about, and half of your examples didn't pertain to aesthetics, it sort of helps to prove the point.

Also, having more customization really doesn't do much of a difference to a game's performance. It really doesn't... the way sliders function and the way "choose this or that" function is not entirely different, it's just the sliders function gives more utility / versatility. I can easily understand why people would think this, though.

Aye, this bugs me alot about this game too. But then again, this game isn't like CoH where you are the hero and are unique. The lack of customization bugged me at first until I started realizing that, in this game, I'm just a nameless soldier.

The only things now that bug me with customization are the lack of different faces and, more importantly, lack of appealing hairstyles. Oh how I would love playing a WP if he didn't have to be bald. But this all falls back on the WAR sort of atmosphere... you aren't suppoesed to be "unique".

All this makes me miss CoX and makes me hope CO turns out fantastic.

...just annoyed by how they implemented animations from a distance? I really don't think this is a game breaking issue and I myself am enjoying this game a good bit, but something that annoyed me the first time I played this game in OB was the fact that, if you see something moving a slight distance away, it moves in little "clips", as in you don't see the full animation. I was hoping that it was simply because it was in beta but it seems to be an in-game addition. Now this is fine and dandy for those that have average computers, and I can understand the performance issues with this in areas with large conflicts with multiple players. But honestly it feels like I'm playing a game from the early 90s. Some of us have more than one processor. It just feels really cruddy to me and I would eventually want the option to see the full animations of characters. I think it's a great limit on system hogging for those that don't have the great computers, but for those of us that do have semi-good computers, it would be nice not having to see things moving in blocks.

Am I the only one who's honestly peeved by this?

I have 5 scrolls of resurrection if anyone wants them, right now I only have two that I can give immediately but am going to have to edit this to add in the three others later. Here they are in link form; just click the link, enter your account info on the blizzard site and you're good to go:

I will add crosses and red colored text to the links that no longer work. Three more will be added soon.

I probably already posted on this particular thread a while ago, but I want to add my two cents that I like the art style they're going for with this game. Cel-shading can look and perform fantastically... if done right.

So far, it looks like crap (at least some of the screens). In some screens you can barely see the character. But in others it looks quite impressive. I'm going to be hoping that it's simply because it's early in the testing and most MMOs don't focus on "final" visuals until late in development (a great example of this is WAR... I have to say that 4-6 months ago the game looked like crap. Now it looks pretty good if you ask me.

Cel-shading can work. I'd say at this point just give it some time to breath before you judge the game by it's graphics. At this moment what I'm focusing on is the general direction and ideas the developers are wanting to take this game (as right now, we really can't see much of what they have to offer). I can hope Cryptic can pull it off because they pulled CoX off pretty damn good, and considering this is basically just a CoX2 with a new look (reminds me of the drastic changes from TF to TF2 in it's early days and what it used to look like) it should be even better.

Made a Poll and want to start a discussion in this forum.

I don't think the game is dying. Although at this point I've played the PvE to death, I still have fun from time to time doing some PvP because it's so fast to get into.

The one thing I quoted though is something I agree with you about. HA at this point is ridiculous, then again it's been like this for a while. You can't get a decent group unless you've beaten it 8 times before. But if you're new, you will never find a group that has any organization. So it's impossible to get rank for HA unless you already have it. Which makes no sense if you ask me. The only possible way is to do it with a guild, but no guilds do it on a regular basis except for HA specific guilds... which only recruit you if you have rank... which, again, makes no sense.
