pre-ordering gives you the choice between a mammoth or rhino mount at level 40, or a lvl 25 bow, but what you get depends on where you order from. No, it does not give you the headstart if I believe I'm correct... it gives you the option to, where you pay $5 to get 3 day headstart + 10 extra days (or is it 7 days making 10 days total? Still not completely sure, not pre-ordering myself but picking up the game eventually). |

as for what the OP is saying, yes I do agree that you have to raid to get the best gear is a load of BS... I don't want to spend 24 hours in an "epic" dungeon just for a chance to get "epic" gear. If this is the case then I'm just going to have to live with what the PvP gear has to offer... because I really don't care enough about getting the best gear if I have to waste thousands of hours raiding. I hope FC learns of people's concerns with this and eventually does something to appeal to us regular joes. |

yeah, the forums (these and the official ones) have been getting a lot of that lately... the thing about this game is that, even though they are trying, there are still going to be some people with top-end systems that won't be able to play this game, simply for internal programming reasons. They will be fixed eventually, but not, at least, for a couple months, which is why we are still seeing performance issues from a few people (though drastically much less people after this patch), and what I believe will still be existant for a little while longer... ...but it's nice to see another person's issues with the game are resolved. Hope to see you in-game!
EDIT: also, just for correction, I definitely wouldn't call WoW's launch exactly the most beautiful of a blossoming... LOTRO has and will hold that title for a very long time. |

That freakin' music is beyond annoying... why does everyone have to use it for their videos!?!? Sure I didn't mind hearing it the first time, but this is at least the 6,000th time I heard it, at this point. But yes, the video was definitely a little biased... nice to see some in-game footage of AoC though

lol... trees... but I agree Solareus, environment is a really important issue for video games, especially one like this... I'm just not really having any problems with the trees myself, they look decent to me. Hope the trees meet your expectations by launch

Originally posted by Deathstrike2 I agree, just gets tiring seeing the same responses by the same people... if you don't like the game just leave it, no need to cause drama or spread gossip over it For the majority of us the game is running perfectly as should be, though I'm sure people will disagree with me... I can't possibly have a different performance experience than anyone else! Because they are having a bad playing time, I apparently have to have one too, is that how it works...? |

A little competition isn't something to cancel a game over that has already spent a butt-load of money... let alone a game that shows great promise. Anyone who has played MMORPGs long enough knows WAR is going to beat AoC in subscribers. AoC is the option for hardcore gamers... WAR is the option for the casual gamer... who do you think is the bigger population? But measuring the amount of subscribers won't give you any knowledge on which game is "better". They both offer something different to the genre. As for myself I'm probably going to stick to AoC... as far as I can tell I'm having a really great time with it. But who knows, maybe WAR will blow me away. But to say that EA will screw WAR over just because AoC is going according to plan is not something logical. Like I said, it's pretty obvious which will bring in more bacon. But that isn't something to use to judge a game by. WAR will be ahead but not by much, it will be enough to create a great competition. All I can say is that both of these games will be great simply because they'll be forced to improve until one obviously outbeats the other by a large enough margin... and I really don't see that happening. |

hmm, yeah it is really odd that some people with computers like yours can't run this game. I do honestly find it interesting, because there are people that are stating that they can play this game on their mediocre computers at least on low-med settings and people with your computers that can't even play at all. It is disturbing, and obviously a major issue with the game still not being able to function properly for all rigs, no matter what their actual efficiency is. Tbh though if you really don't think the combat, gameplay, and everything else you mentioned, just don't play this game. It's really that simple. I've found through my own experiences that it's alot easier to just find a game that you enjoy rather than just keep hoping a game changes to your likes. However, your post does show at least a little interest, since you say you might come back if they fix these performance issues... so if you really do feel this way I'd wait for a couple months. I'm sure these problems will not last for long. But, like I said, if it's just the game itself that you are finding boring, you have a better chance just trying to find a new game. There are plenty of others around and I'm sure a good amount I could suggest to you As for myself I haven't really had any problems with the game, played on 5 different rigs and they all seem to run pretty good. I find the gameplay and everything else about the game fun, so I will be purchasing it by release, or maybe a week after, whenever. All I know is I will probably be getting this game whenever I get a chance. As for yourself I hope you find something that can maintain to your interests! |

I thought you already had a post very similar to this... why not just revive it??
anyways, in response to what you are saying... yeah, the tech requirements was a bad move on their part if they're looking to make a game that can compete. There just simply aren't enough features in this game to make up for the "why don't I just continue playing WoW instead of buy a $1,000 rig?" HOWEVER, after hearing from three of my five friends (haven't even contacted the other two) who are expecting this game, they mentioned that they actually got a miracle patch... and it seems a couple people on these forums mentioned it as well, though I'm not sure what the details on this are. But even still, with a miracle patch, the game is not playable on some systems. As I'm sure you know first-hand some gaming rigs that are built for this sort of game are failing while mediocre computers are at least playing on low - medium settings. A casual player won't be able to play this game, unless AoC adds more versatility in it's graphic designs so that it can fill the needs of those casual gamers. If they don't do that the game will become like EVE; a great, graphical game, but only really fitting the mold for a certain group of people. It's kind of unfair to judge the classes by level 10... most if not all MMORPGs focus balancing mostly on end-game. You will rarely find a game that is completely balanced with it's classes on every single level (heck even WoW fails in this aspect). Tbh I really don't like all this obsession with class balance... what ever happened to just picking a class that seemed the most fun, not the most powerful or the best in PvP? I'm not completely aware of how the game will be working with it's servers, though I know there's basically the PvE, PvP, FFA PvP, RP-PvP, and FFA RP-PvP, something like that at least. I honestly am not quite sure why they made this move... maybe it was for the lore aspect...? RP in AoC I would imagine would be very bloody... that sort of fits the PvP area. But still, I do agree, there should be that option for PvE-RP for those that don't like having to watch their back and give paragraphs of sentences at the same time! I think they did have a survey on it and according to them the amount of people that voted for a RP-PvE server were relatively low... so that beats me. If you mean the graphical detail on the characters I'm not quite sure where you're getting that from... can't find a more beautiful MMORPG to date, nobody can really argue with that. And the faces... well, that sort of fits the lore: rugged and "manly". Though as far as I can tell, if you wish, you can really customize the faces to, essentially, look like anything you want, you just have to learn how to use them to your advantage, and properly, while actually putting in the time to making your character. As far as I can understand you can't edit the essential look of your characters so you might as well spend hours upon hours molding the perfect persona of whatever you want your avatar to be. There's my full 2 freakin' cents. |

I hear the 8800gt is the best bang for your buck, though I'm not positive. Not really sure on the differences between the gt and the gts but I know for sure 8800 is one of the best out there, and you can probably get one for around 100-150 (depending on where you shop) over the internet. There was a great deal going on over at Newegg for a gts for $90, if I find the link I'll give it to you. |

Originally posted by pandrax since you say you are in CB, and thus have been past lvl 20, I have a question, though I'm not sure if you can answer it because of the NDA. Will the voice-acting and cut scenes be in the game as frequently as they are past then, or will it go to the text dialog like so many other games? I'm loving the voice-acting, makes me actually want to listen to the quest and the story, even if I know the quest itself isn't really ground-breaking... but at least they make the stories around it good

In a sense I guess it is comparable to GWs. The game will be mostly PvP, like GWs. Good graphics, like GWs (at least for it's time, GWs2 will probably improve upon this vastly). Zoning is similar to GWs, a one-time massive load for each zone and then every time after it'll load quickly. Only difference is that most maps won't be instanced and much larger. Yes, in a way it is comparable to GWs. I don't really think you can compare AoC to anything that has been out yet, though... I haven't seen any major MMORPG as gruesome and adult as this, and the graphics are mind-blowing. What is good about the game is that it is combining a lot of things from all the major companies into one, which is what I'm liking about this game. If anything, I would compare it most to Everquest II in terms of graphics, zoning, and etc. (just a completely different type of fantasy game, though). |

Originally posted by alakram FC stated that once you get a character past level 20 you will have the option to start a character from that level. Whether or not that is implemented by release, I'm not positive, just wanted to add to that issue. My only real issue(s) are the performance and the lack of information that we've been getting. Things such as tiny bugs, like falling through bridges or the game not running on specific systems, are easy, fixable problems. Things such as memory leaks and crashes are what I'm worrying about. |
