It's the easy way out in the sense that it's easier for everyone.

They've learned a lot from previous games that are completely one instance, like WoW, excluding it's dungeons. A full-front raid on the major cities(usually consisting of about 100 level 80s on each side, not to mention the 100s of lowbies jumping in to be "epic" pwnzers) was a massacre of lag... it would be a picture show no matter how good your rig or your connection was.

I prefer instancing over the WoW route in all honesty... I think what sets off a lot of people is that they are not used to load times. Partly why it's a graphical game... there are going to be some sacrifices to go along with it. If you bought the game without realizing this is graphically extensive then you obviously don't really know too much of the game. WAR will be less graphically extensive, without a doubt, for the people who can't take the loads.

In short, more playable with plenty of enough players to... well, play with. Thus the name, players, amirite????

That's about the same as saying nobody is allowed to have a different opinion.

I enjoy the game but I'm not going to tell the people who don't to just stop posting. Everyone's entitled to an opinion, even if you think their opinion is wrong, or even if you know some of their ideas are wrong. That is the beauty of opinion.

If your upset about people spreading false information, whether purposefully or unintentionally... it's not something that should cross your mind. If someone is going to judge a game just by forum gossip without any proof provided or something based off of another person's personal opinion of the game, most likely did not want to play in the first place.

Another person's opinion is another person's property. Don't touch it, don't change it. Everyone has different opinions, and as long as you enjoy the game, should it honestly matter?

I did attempt playing with my old comp (which was a P4)... but was well below the req. in almost everything, including the processor... it was only 2.66 GHz...

that is my last time I try to play a video game below the required... my old comp almost blew up.

Would using the mouse make things easier, at least a little bit, or does that not really help the problem...? Not sure and a serious question, because there's no way in hell I could just say, "Hmmm... well according to the way you described your hand problems you have Bromchitis. Take these pills and don't use the keyboard to play AoC."

I always play with the mouse because I think similarly when I play any game, it's just easier on the hands to use the mouse along with the keyboard to ease hand movement.

My guild has... I don't know, let's say 1,000 members. There is one account that holds money and resource donations. We haven't spent it yet, due to the problems with building (which may or may not have been fixed). The guild account has NOT been banned.

This is just bait, pure and simple.

Have you seen the official forums? It is real. Don't pretend to think these people are lying just because they are attacking something you love. Thats really bad thinking.

I went to the official forums [General] and didn't see a single complaint about guilds. I hit refresh. Nothing. I hit refresh. Nothing. I'm thinking at this point Enigma is full of ****. I hit refresh. Nothing. I hit refresh - ah, a post about guild members getting banned! I read it. It sounds reasonable. I hit refresh - post is gone! It's been deleted! That in itself tells me something is wrong.

Please keep in mind that this is not an attack against the people who play AoC. I, myself play it right now. Whether someone loves this game or hates this game is besides the point. Funcom needs to drastically fix this

Gosh, I appreciate how you screencaped it rather than give the link to the forums. I can't access the main site's forums like others because we haven't bought the game (which that in itself is a load of BS... it's about time to let us see the truth, FC). So that's helpful.

But yes, that's a bad approach by FC. Definitely worries me... would be a serious issue, at least to me, and probably many others would take that issue much more seriously... especially if they're losing currency at the amount that they are losing.

Hope they resolve these issues one way or another, and I don't mean the way they are doing so now...

if you get two extra gigs of RAM for 50 bucks it should run pretty damn well... what operating system are you running? Vista itself is going to suck half of your running RAM so it's best for a RAM hog like this game and others to get as much as possible (though in all honesty anything over 4 with current technology is somewhat pointless).

Ugh, that's going to be annoying. Hope there is some form of making money other than trading with other players and gold farming (since crafting and professions are out of the question). Would be annoying to be in your situation where you don't have anywhere near enough to afford a mount.

Other than that, I kinda like the idea...

a bit too restrictive (ie, someone can't kill someone for harvesting a rare resourse (like silver or gold) if they are more than 5 levels higher without becoming a criminal...

And does it still hold in seiges where everyone is an enemy and should be killed?

I agree, what sucks about this is now the lower level players have an advantage. They can just annoy the @#$% out of someone by following them around and getting near them while they attack monsters, and unintentionally, get killed by that high level player, who didn't mean to in the first place.

I hope that someday there will be a system to control the "dickhead" population completely and eliminate all possibliities of doing so (gold spammers are considered in this population as well), and this isn't the greatest considering there are minor flaws, but I'm pleased with it. The game needs some control after all, and that's what this offers.

WAR has had the whole world remade twice now, what makes you think it wont go thru another they are not even allowing beta tests but for 2 days every couple weeks. I would be entirely amazed if it comes out before may next year. I only say this because EA Mythic guarantees the game will be flawless once its released and that only because of how bad of a release EA had with Hellgate: London. Should EA screw up the release of warhammer you would never see another attempt at an MMO from them ( which might be a good thing).

I'd say cancel now... you obviously appear to dislike the game, as you're only pointing to the games flaws (which all games have). So why would you continue to play it if it isn't fun for you? I'm having a blast myself, but I feel that if you don't like a game, why play it? People are always going to have different opinions on anything, in this case entertainment, and if you don't like it, wait for WAR or feel free to go back to whichever game you used to play...

though I'm not sure how much more you will like WAR over AoC... MMORPGs really don't have vast differences from one another other than the basic design and layout. The only differences in WAR will be less graphics, more class choices, less instancing, more ganking, and many other minor things you can look at as flaws or high points. Hope you find something, though.

As a beta tester for WAR I don't know where you guys get your info, but the highlighted areas above are flat out wrong. No need to post misinformation about a game in developement just because he does not like AoC and mentioned WAR. I enjoy both games currently and plan to continue with both. They each have their highs and lows. They really do appeal to different tastes.

Cheers!

Ugh... not trying to be rude or anything but it really does annoy me when people argue against something with little to no information as to why... they just say "No, you are wrong".

From what I've seen, at least from the stand-point of what I said, not too sure about lys, ganking is going to be worse than AoC's condition at the current moment, which in itself is at least fixable for this game. I didn't really want to back up my claims and I don't intend to (mostly for the fact that I shouldn't even be giving this information that I know about WAR more than it's beta testers for specific reasons) because I wasn't attempting to argue against WAR or the OP's decisions. I was just stating my beliefs that, at least the way I look at it, you shouldn't be playing a game just because everyone else seems to be enjoying it if you're not, because whats the point of playing then?

The little comment you highlighted from me is very short to what I was saying and you obviously didn't read my entire post. Please don't use examples unexplanitorily from people that obviously don't want to get involved in a completely different arguement.

The game launched less than a week ago. Of course the customer service is not going to be functioning the way they should be, you're not the only one with problems in the game. At launch, the number of bugs in any game are huge. And with that, they're going to have a huge number of people to cater to.

Just calm down. They are working on the issues, like I said, it's launch. They have more than enough to deal with when it comes to minor or major bugs.

Buy two extra gigs with what it's got (less than 50 bucks if you shop at the right places) and it looks decent to me.

If you know anyone personally who is buying/bought the game, ask for a buddy key and see for yourself. If you don't, you can go to the "buddy key" thread to attempt to get a buddy key from someone who is giving theirs away since they get too many, but that is unlikely.

Other than that I would judge the game by the professional reviews you get. I would give you my review of the game but tbh these forums have become so ridiculous that if I did my opinions of the game would be judged and stamped as "wrong" by another poster. If anything this should be the last place you should seek for advice on whether or not to buy the game.

Oh wow... CoH/CoV.... my first MMORPG. We had a lot of fun together... not sure if it's the fact that it was my first, but I have to say while it lasted it was the greatest game I've played. A fantastic group-oriented community, awesome combat, and practically limitless character/costume creation. I loved this game. But it has really over time become a love/hate relationship for me.

The game has (well, had) the potential to become big. At this point it is simply too old... in a sense it isn't, but the MMORPG community is an extremely picky crowd with high expectations. Anything over two years old (excluding WoW) is considered moot in the eyes of many.

So anyways, it did have potential. This game was such a blast for me when it lasted. But it had so many irritating things that are essential to me that were missing, it really aggravated me alot. I keep hoping that they would eventually do these things but they never did/never will:

- The game had a very successful market for it's lack of marketting. Tbh I don't even remember how I even heard about this game a couple years back. The game was not as popular as it was partly because of this.

- Extremely repetitive missions. Don't get me wrong, the combat is fun. It does actually feel like a comic book when fighting, and it is like a completely different type of game as the types we see today. It's complete madness, but fun and to a point where it isn't complete button mashing. The missions were all the freakin' same thing, though. There are literally about several different types of missions and maybe 7 maps to do those missions in... if they did at least a little better job at making missions more interesting then I might still be playing today.

- Complete lack of end-game content. Though I have to admit, they did try adding some. I remember the excitement of trying to get to level 50 with my main character... I played an Illusion/Storm controller. Was a blast. Had way too much fun playing the game... until I finally made end-game. I kept asking myself, "now what?" And sadly, there wasn't much. That is single-handedly the most irritating problem with this game to me. You have a couple choices once you make level 50:

1.) Farm mindlessly and PL others for influence (the in-game's currency for "gold" for people who have never played the game that are reading this) so you can buy the perfect enhancements to completely max out your character... which does no good anyways since you basically can't do much with your character once at main level anyway.

2.) Do the few amount of task forces they have to offer, which shouldn't take you any longer than 2 weeks to do all of them if you really wanted to... not to mention there is little reward for doing so other than getting the badges and some extra slightly beneficial perma-buffs.

3.) Collect badges... I don't know about you but this really isn't fun to me... my main character has less than 100 I think (which would be considered a sad and pathetic thing by most in-game).

4.) Create another character, or if you get main level, an "epic" archetype character. I tried the squid forms, and really, they were not fun at all for me. It felt to me as if the uniqueness of my character was completely sucked out. You couldn't choose between any other powers if you chose the "epic" archetypes, while the other archetypes gain much more diversity. I went ahead and just made other archetypes (which in the end were a lot more interesting) rather than play the "epics". And even then, it got dull fast since it was the same old same old feeling with my level 50 already doing all of them.

5.) Host/Enter costume contests... these are pretty entertaining, actually. Not too many games that have as many player created events as CoX.

They tried PvP... the thing is that PvP with the way the game was designed just doesn't make much sense and is completely unfair based on certain archetypes. It's a ghost town in the three designated PvP areas (I think they've added more a couple months ago, not sure). Either way, the game has pretty much nothing to do. It was an extreme disappointment for me. I played for about 2 months after I got to max until I just got tired of it... tried again three months after hoping any of it changed. Made another character, but only got him to level 42 when I said, "What's the point?" And from then haven't played since.

Overall, in my opinion, the game is like a really good book. Great for the first read... but after a long while it gets tiring reading it over and over again when you know what to expect. The game lacks any end-game content, basically... that is, at least the way I see it, it's main flaw in why it doesn't have the consistent amount of players that it sorely disserves... just wish that eventually they'll make the game worth playing again for me...

And thats why WarHammer is going to be completely spotless game launch. its going to be perfect.

because they are hammering out all the bugs now. and doing tests and stress runs of capital citys. and ya know why? cuz Mythic cares about the customer.

I'll be bookmarking this so I can laugh at you later. Hope you don't mind.

Edit: Unless of course you were being sarcastic, in which case: good job.

you don't mind if I bookmark this as well, do you?

I think I'll make a good post in a year from now of all these type of posts when both games are beyond their launch and in a general status.

lol... a flawless launch... don't make me laugh. No top-line MMORPG has ever had a flawless launch (yes, even LOTRO had it's flaws). Call me crazy but I think I'll call you delusional and desperate for either the failure of AoC or the success of WAR (or both). Both games will do fine.

You see. You didn't read my post about being mature and respecting other games even if you don't like them lil guy.

Like I said, both games will do fine. I'm eagerly wishing for the best of both. I was not against his obvious love for WAR; I was posting against the fact that he eagerly believes that the game will be flawless. Not sure how that was seen as disrespectful to the games, maybe to the actual poster, but not what you seem to be belittling me for.

I also apologize for not reading your post about being mature and respecting other games... I guess I should go through everyone's post history and read their speeches

"Now, there's no time limit, etc. for this prison. No siree. You have to do absolutely menial quests over and over and over and over until you've "paid your debt". One of the quests, "Move That Rock Over There", is particularly hilarious. It's a multi-stage quest in which you--wait for it--move rocks back and forth over and over and over and over until you've "paid your debt" and get out of prison."

Ah ha, now that part had me laugh out loud. That would be a real spectical to see.

Back to my plans on RP-PvP rather than PvE. Glad they will be doing something about the extremely unnecessary ganking... a little ganking in a game is good, but when it's at a point where it is now, there needs to be at least some regulation or forced chivalry.

People may be having problems, but comparing the two release is absurd and completely asinine.

I agree... people need to actually realize how horrible AO's release was. Should I post up screenshots?
