free cape +1. now wheres my free exp ring.

Imo the ring is worthless. works til level 40 and the leveling is INSANELY fast any way.

60+ as stated by funcom experiance is harder to come by, after they make a few patches and fix the exploits.  I bet that ring will become very usefull 60+, id hang on to it.

like he said, only works to level 40. So yeah, it's a little useful, but I doubt it's something to go crazy over. Probably drops in-game similar to this to begin with, and if not, like I said, really isn't that useful until after level 40 (which is when it stops working...)

Also, I got the cape as well but did not order the CE. Not sure if this is a mistake on their part or if they're just giving away the capes to everyone... seems kind of unfair, but like I said for the ring, it isn't really much of an addition either, unless I can sell it in-game... I'd save it for a couple of years when these become antiques and I sell it to gain gold for life (at least in a year or so from now they might be considered antique)! But they probably made it similar to how WoW works with making certain items "unique" (as in the item is only usable by your character).

You and about the other 50% of the population agree...

I myself don't really like the assassin. Well I do, but I don't like playing a class that is either completely nerfed or completely unfair to the other classes, in this case #2... I may play one once they're evened out and the entire freakin' server isn't playing one... but I can guarantee Assassins, Barbarians, and Rangers are going to be the dominant classes in the game just for having benefits to stealth and the world being FFA PvP (meaning stealth constantly = must).

I may play a Barbarian, but I'm leaning more towards either the HoX, the DT, or the BS... mixed melee is the way to go for me.

I also chose a quad core over a dual core because I want to make sure my computer will be functioning to the best of it's abilities in a good amount of year's time... I don't want to end up kicking myself a year from now for getting a dual core that is the similar price of the quad core just for an extra couple of frames NOW only because most games aren't functioning with the quads...
So yeah, that does remind me of another question. Are there really any big differences between the Intel and the AMD processors...? I read a lot of reviews and many say that they both function on an equal basis.
EDIT: and vmoped, was that pre-miracle patch or afterwords...? That would be interesting if they still don't function properly, considering I figure there would be at least a couple performance complaints on the forums (surprisingly I've seen zip for the past week).
EDIT X 2: ANOTHER QUESTION! If a motherboard comes with an on-board video card, does the video card combine with another one you buy or is it overwritten...? Like I said I'm not exactly an expert.

AMD is fine. its just a matter of preference. (you will get fanbois who will tell you otherwise)

and your onboard graphics card will be disabled when you pit in the 8800 (some mobo require you to disable it manually)

but please listen to my advise on the PSU....don't power a quality rig with a bad PSU...

good to know.

Do you know anything else you could suggest instead of the PSU I put up...? Not too sure about that to be honest, other than that is basically what powers the rest of the components.

Well O.K., I believe this is my 5th question so far for the past month or so about my computer... at first I planned to play my old comp for this game... it obviously doesn't cut it, so I decided a new rig was the only option. I switched between building my own, getting a pre-made one, and now back to building my own...

I've really learned a lot about computers, at least more than I used to know... I'm glad I'm making this upgrade because not only do I get a good computer for a good price but I also gain so pretty good knowledge while having some fun in the making... plus bragging rights, "HA-HAR! ME BUILT COMPUTER! *flex*"

So anyways, I searched around a lot, finding a good deal more than I used to know about how computers work. I also researched places to buy materials, and Newegg is pretty dominant I must say... this is the build I think I will be goin' for, but I have a few questions first. Like I said, I did learn a good amount, but I'm in no condition to call myself an expert. This is my first time ever doing a project like this so I want to just clarify that I'm making the best choice.

Is everything listed basically all I would need to build my computer, or at least the basics? If not, then what am I missing? Second, how would I tell which part of the computer is faulty? For example, let's say the screen is just blue and can't go any further from there. Are there ways for someone to tell which part of their computer isn't functioning as should? For instance, say a green screen = the processor is misfunctioning or a yellow screen = memory is bad... of course, I don't expect to see anything like that, but telltale signs to tell which part is faulty. And third, is this about the best deal I can find? I am trying to build a computer that is high-end that will last me a good amount of time, but I would like to at least be making sure I'm getting the right price for it... I think I have alot more questions but I can't think of them all at this time, I'll add more later probably.

So finally, does this look like a fair price?

I'd give it two weeks myself, but I still wouldn't be surprised if it was the 27th... I don't have a clue how people are able to do it but it's kind of frightening to think about

I would assume it's because everyone is playing, which is a good thing... bad thing for me, though... hard to find any good info about the game from other players now that they are playing constantly! I'm going to have to wait a week or so until my rig is ready like a bum

GAAAAAHHHH! The anxiety is killing me!

Right now it's fine... the only thing I'd suggest is an extra gig of ram or so and you could probably run it really high... the game is a memory eater if anything and it really does affect game quality by a ton... not to mention it's really cheap to come by nowadays. Can get 2 gigs for less than $50 bucks if you go to the right places.

EDIT: oh and for your class question, probably a DT or HoX... if you don't want to be an "evil" class go for a BS (bear shaman), though none of the classes are necessarily good or evil, and it really doesn't matter much unless you want to RP.

Assuming FC does it like every other current game out there, it will probably be that once you created your FC account and give your box information that should be there, it will be applied automatically.

No pre-paid cards should be necessary but I do hear that credit card information is required whether or not you intend to use credit cards or pre-paid cards. I would like to know a little bit more about this as well.

OK, I don't have the retail client yet. and I don't even plan on getting it until a week or so after release... I'm simply too caught up with work tbh. But even so, I'm still trying to figure out from here which class to start with. I'll most definitely end up trying all of them (at least all of the melee classes) eventually, but I want to know ahead of time which class I should use as my main so I don't have to go through the entire tutorial process all over again with a new class if I find the one I play is not all that it seems to be (unless what I hear about being able to skip once you get one past the tutorial is true)...

Right now I'm deciding between the barbarian, the bear shaman, and the Hox... the barbarian apparently is overpowered at the moment, which I can easily believe... being a rogue class, it has the benefit of stealth without a nerf. Also, it has the benefit of more survivability than an assasin and similar damage outputs. Then I looked at the bear shaman... at first was going to be my choice. I like being the melee-type healer. It mixes two of my favorite types of classes very well... I like having a very large amount of abilities which is what these caster/melee types offer. But I hear mixed reviews. From some they say it's an underpowered class while others say they grow much more powerful as they grow in level. Then I saw the HoX... at first I didn't really want to try it as it appears they lack any sort of survivability... but more and more I'm being attached to the class... after looking at their combos and feats, they seem like a really fun and versatile class. But I hear from almost everyone that this type is nothing more than a glass cannon. While damage may be fun, I don't really think constant death counterweighs that factor.

Any info on these specific classes would be appreciated.

Would go with the 8800GT or GTS as well... substantially faster for a very small increase in price... not sure exactly what everyone's obsession is though with buying from Best Buy.

Helping spam this out there, newegg is probably the best place to get what you are looking for online... extremely fast and efficient delivery, fantastic customer service, and best of all, the best prices I can find.

An 8500GT:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121094

An 8800GT for a similar price to what you're linking:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127328

I found these in about 2 seconds though, you can probably find some even cheaper for better quality than what I found.

yeah, you'll be saving anywhere between $50 to $100 bucks on your graphics card shopping online at newegg... I'd take the first link handed to you, or at least start a search on that site from there.

OK, so now we are not getting the DX10 until later this year.

This was listed on the main AoC site

Funcom has decided to ship only the DirectX 9 version at launch, giving the team more time to focus on building a DirectX 10 version worthy of Microsoft’s great vision for the future of PC gaming. This postponement will let Funcom include even more features in the DirectX 10 version of Age of Conan than originally planned.

Does anyone know if we will be able to download the DX10 patch, or do we have to go out and buy the new version of the game.

I can honestly say not only for myself, but many others would be extremely pissed... considering they were promising DX10 at launch, and to then make it something we would have to pay for as an extra later, is completely unacceptable. Many of their customers would just leave if FC tried to make a quick buck this way.

I believe, though, that they are smart enough to realize it will do more damage to their company than good. It will be a patch, without a doubt... if in a new box (or even as a feature for an expansion that you have to buy to get the feature) then it only proves to me that FC would have little confidence in their game... but I'm pretty sure at this point they do have a high confidence in the success of their game... they realize their game will be a success, so forcing their customers to buy a feature that was once promised at release is unnecessary.

Like I said, in the long run it would do more harm to their company than good, and I do believe they realize this. Like many said, it is a small feature. But the principal is what will make smart consumers realize what the company is trying to do... but FC has not done so yet, so I will continue to believe they know what they are doing... they certainly seem to be showing that so far for the past couple of months for this game.

heh, I guess at this point it's kind of pointless but I could use one as well. Just give me a PM on this username if anyone wants to help out... I'm not too desperate, I can buy the game myself, but it would be nice if anyone is generous enough to offer.

Yeah, just a simple question I'd like to know the answer to if any of you guys know the answer to.

Considering everything FC has been saying, mounts are going to be more important than just a source of transportation. Unlike other MMORPGs, they will play a vital role in combat (at least later throughout the game) and will also prove important in sieging and the border kingdoms. So, in retrospect, there is a good chance our mounts will play a vital role to our characters as a whole as well, not just PvP and PvE combat. What I would like to know about mounts is exactly how far are we going to be able to go when it comes to customizing our mounts? I real
