True, AoC didn't realise their NDA until it was too late for people to discover the game's flaws, not that many of us believed those that broke the NDA anyway (including myself, I bought the game and was sorely disappointed to see the majority of what was said was true). 3. AoC was fully reviewed (as in it's early content, usually around the level 40 and under areas) by major game companies as well before it's release. I find their impression to be jack squat to be quite frank. 4. AoC announced they had gone gold I think around a month and half before their release. What I'm trying to say is that you really can't judge the game until it's out. I learned this the hard way with AoC; I hope WAR will be amazing but I'm taking the pessimistic route and saying that you all just shouldn't get your hopes up. I guarantee there will be at least one major upset with this game that wasn't adressed by the company. We can't make a valid guess until after release. |

5 5 dolla 5 dolla cu-pauuuun (Sorry, was begging for it) As a serious answer, as many would say, Mythic is a little defunct right now when it's coming to their organization on beta and so forth. You can see many a post of similar problems your having with trouble accessing beta. I wouldn't know myself if they give beta access because I didn't recieve any codes for this game in the manner that you did, though I know many retailers have similar offers. And like I said, many people are suffering equal grief. Like many others are suggesting, you have two options 1.) Wait it out or 2.) Contact someone at Mythic directly if you can and hope you get a couple questions resolved. After giving contact, all you can do after is 1.) in hopes that your situation is resolved. So, my advice to you... try and contact someone directly at Mythic. Commen knowledge to me says there is probably a customer service phone number on that coupon, so I'd try that first before anything. If it doesn't, you can probably find it on their main site. |

Probably CO or nothing... tbh DC isn't even interesting me in the slightest bit. For some reason I just really, really don't like the idea of playing with other super heroes that already exist against villains that already exist. I kind of feel like the creativity and uniqueness of my own character is sucked out of me; as if my hero is just a sidekick to the real heroes. That isn't how a superhero game should be played.... of course, all games should be designed as if you are not the hero. It simply doesn't work in an MMO when everyone is the main protagonist. I just don't like the idea of playing with already made characters... just doesn't sound good to me. Plus, with the video shown, it looks pretty bad in the animation and graphics sense. Reminds me greatly of what CoX looks like now, not that that isn't fun, but I don't want another CoX with a new name; I'd rather continue playing CoX. Then again, WAR looked like crap 6 months ago and has improved drastically with graphics. I think I'll like CO more because of how they plan on making powers and the interesting approach to the graphics. Not sure if it will work out well, right now they look O.K. in certain screenshots and horrid in others. But if improved upon the style can shine. Plus it helps that this is being designed by the people who made CoX. Gotta give a huge bonus to that over SOE (heh...). And.... of course... one of the best features in my eyes about what CoX originally brought... Extreme character customization. One of my favorite features in CoX, probably improved upon vastly in CO. |

He does not have a case there. FC has been extremely intelligent on their advertisements, which sickens me to an extreme extent. I'll use what the person above me said as an example. The "Enhanced for DX10" can mean alot of things. It could mean it is built for the use of DX10, but it does not have to mean that the game actually runs on it. Just that it has the possibility to. So from that, nothing was broken. I really would hope for the demise of this company just so it can show other companies that you really can't do this. It would be fantastic, but in this case, he has nothing against them. |

This is what I feel will be WAR's biggest problem. People are going to be believing WAR is a copy of WoW, and whether it's true or not or even the other way around, WAR is going to suffer from it. The average consumer who doesn't know about WAR will think it's another attempt at making the next WoW (which ALL MMOs are trying to be, you can tell me different, but every MMO is trying to be the next WoW). But it will be more evident to players and standerbys than with other MMOs. I don't really think the first issue mentioned by the OP is too much of a fatal flaw for MMOs. MMOs based on classes have been following this trend since the beginning of time, mostly because it works. I don't think it would do an MMO harm to go with this continued flow, but it would do outstandingly well for them to introduce something new to the table. |

WoW will not decrease for a long time. WAR might be able to take a very small chunk (I'm guessing at the very highest 500k total subs after it's first three months) of WoW's subscribers, them making, I would guess, half of them. so 250k total taken would be my guess. But with the way WoW inflates, and with this expansion, that's going to be small change. The highest I can see WoW becoming is 15 mil... at that point it would be a standstill. I see WoW as a block of jenga blocks. It's all a matter of how tall you make the building and what blocks you take out that will make it tumble down. And like they say, the bigger it is, the harder it falls. |

If you have the RAM (which obviously you do) then I'd say definitely go for Vista. Vista more or less is just a memory eater, and you have memory coming out of your computer's earpiece sockets (see whut I did thar?). Make sure to get 64-bit as well unless you plan on buying 32-bit and then upgrading to 64-bit in 3 months. You're going to need it to be able to use all your RAM. EDIT: Basically, the main difference between 32-bit and 64-bit is how it uses system memory. 64-bit uses your computer at twice the rate of 32-bit. The thing is, most computers don't really need it. It only really applies when a computer is, at the time, using a lot of your system. 32-bit is for computers that are, generally, not used for gaming. The reason people are suggesting 64-bit to you is because you intend to be playing games on it. Since video games tend to use a huge amount of your computer, 64-bit would work much better then 32-bit. In other words, 32-bit is built to not have to run at max all the time. 64-bit is built for computers that intend to do so, but is a waste if it isn't. The only real problems 64-bit has currently that 32-bit doesn't is it's lack of drivers. Even with the problems with 64-bit, in my opinion, it outweighs getting a 32-bit OS (in the long run). |

Having 4 major classes missing out of 24 does not seem like it would be that much of a crushing blow to the game. What the OP was arguing was that there would be an uneven mix of tanks, DPS, ranged, etc. If I read correctly, it was a tank and melee DPS on one side while it was the exact same for the other. There will not be any improper mixes so that isn't too much of a problem. What will be with having 20 classes is making sure they are all balanced, which we don't really know yet, but I am almost absolutely sure this will be a huge issue. The missing cities, though, I can see being a big issue, but nowhere near as to what the OP is exaggerating it to be. The only thing that is somewhat interesting to me is the fact that this game will be focusing greatly on world pvp and RvR (same thing, right? Or is RvR in some way different?). When people around the end of the game are rolling around, they're going to be spending most of their time raiding one major city or the other. To me, that seems somewhat repetitive. Unless they plan on adding in these other major cities very close to launch time, I can see this being an issue. There's also the fact that with less cities, there will be less balance for control on both sides in a server. Does Mythic have a plan for the almost inevitable inbalances? Not trying to hate the game, I'm actually a fan, just would like to know about these issues and how they will resolve them. I'm just not that huge of a follower to know a huge amount of this game, only following this game a little bit tbh... just enough to consider myself a fan of the game, or at least it's success. Not sure if I will like this game over WoW, I'm gonna give it a month or two after release, but we shall see. |

For the love of God and the sake of the quality of future MMOs, let this game die a horrible death. It would bring a great message to all future makers of MMOs that you can't paint crap yellow and call it gold. |

I'm not necessarily a hater or lover of either fantasy or sci-fi, but if an MMO brings a new genre to the table (like SWG did) then I'm more then happy to welcome it. |

Well, for the most cases, yes. I've found the WoW community much different than other MMOs I've played. For example, say CoX. When players find groups, they usually stick with one another for more then one quest to level with eachother. This is how most MMOs function. In WoW, alot of people will, for the most part, level solo.... and in the rare occassions that you do group with someone, it is usually only for one or two quests and then you say your goodbyes. It isn't really a rumor, for the most part it is true. This difference is not exactly a bad thing for WoW, just different and something I found odd at first being used to MMOs like CoX, EQ, and other group focused MMOs. There's a lot of factors as to why WoW is like this: 1.) A very good majority of players at this point play on their end-game characters and have at least one at max level, as, unlike alot of MMOs, WoW is greatly focused on end-game and has been out for a long time, giving people plenty of time to level already. 2.) The leveling pace can be either very quick if you know what you are doing or extremely slow if you are new to the game and dumbfounded by it's size. It can take anywhere from 3 days played time to 3 months played time (played time, not total time) so there are few people you can find around your level, at least that are stagnant to your own leveling pace for long. 3.) Leveling in WoW, unlike other MMOs, actually goes faster when you solo... the only exception to this is on low-level group dungeons, for the most part. But there are very little at low level. 4.) The world in WoW is the biggest gaming world created in the MMO industry (not sure if it's the biggest in all games around, but it could be extremely close). The majority of players leveling, although already few, are spread out because there are literally hundreds of paths you can take when questing to level, which is why the game's PvE is so admired. Not that it is a bad thing to level with a group. The game is designed for players to choose to level solo or with a group of friends with ease. It's a great game to play with a friend. In my case, a friend and I have each of our own special teaming toons that we level only when both of us are online. By accepting and doing the same quests together our levels are equal constantly and it's great fun. Although the leveling is faster solo, it's much more fun to level with a friend... after all, it's a social game. |

Warlocks and Hunters are esentially the best class to play if you are just starting. They are the easiest to level and the least complex (pve, anyways). If you don't prefer being at range then for melee those choices would be Rogues and Druids. Feral and Balance Druids are extremely easy to level why rogues, somewhat in the middle of easyness and difficulty in leveling compared to other classes, is one of the most fun classes you'll have leveling. |

high elf shadow warrior or empire witch hunter, most likely the second of the two... that is, if I choose order, which I most likely will. The Chaos side just looks too... idk, not complex to me, but maybe it's because I know jack crap about this game. I mean for WoW (yes, I'm comparing this game to WoW), the horde are not necessarily evil. For example, the Orcs are basically just trying to survive as well as the Tauren, and the Trolls and Undead just want everything they see dead, while Blood Elves just want power anyway possible. I liked Horde because it was more complex then the Alliance side... everyone was technically a good guy, maybe not the humans arguably. On the other hand, it looks the other way around for this game. Chaos looks like it just wants everything dead... while the Order side has a mix of prophets and anti-heroes. At least that's how that looks to me, like I said I barely know the lore behind this game. And unlike most people, lore does matter to me. Anyone care to elaborate this for me? Oh, and if I do decide to go Chaos, the only class that interests me on that side anyway is the Chosen.. |

They told us months in advance about delayed content so that those who didn't like it could cancel their CE's. I guess I just don't understand why people are so distrustful of a company that has proven in the past (DAoC) that they can make a fantastic game and that they aren't liars. We'll wait and see. All I can do is speculate until the NDA drops and I get into OB.
Well, the way I look at it, you don't lose anything for being precautious. For instance, I was considering buying AoC at launch for a while, because I figured it would be fantastic with what everyone was saying. I decided to be pretcautious, and it did pay off. And even with Mythic's great track of honesty... the thing is, I'm in no rush to buy this game, like I said, WoW is still keeping me somewhat interested, so might as well play it safe anyway in my situation. Also just want to mention, all MMOs are massive grinds. The only MMO I've ever came across that wasn't was GWs, or at least gave the option to not have to grind (instant PvP characters). |
