It went from $2.35 US on Sunday to $2.50 on Monday.  Today it went from $2.65 this morning to over $3.00 US at most gas stations.  I expect it to go higher.   This is going to trash our econmy far worse than 9/11 ever did.  Expect high gas prices to effect everything you buy across the board.

I am asking this of follow gamers across all boards. It seems our government is not going to do anything for the people of New Orleans, so it is up to us, the people, to do something. I am asking you to donate to the Red Cross Katrina Releif found.

Please help. They need lots of food, water and medicine. Donate now to one of the only agencies actually responding to this disaster.

The Turbine that created our once beloved AC is no more.  It died about 3 years ago.  The reason I say this is after experiencing AC2(both beta and live) I quickly realized that Turbine was no longer what it use to be.  

Yea...now if WoW had been on the list I can understand that and would have voted for it, however, even it is not as bad as some others out there.   There are some seriously bad MMORPG's out there and you don't even have them on your list.   You need to go play more MMORPG's and then remake your list.

BTW - I do not like nor do I hate EQ2, I'm indifferent to it.  It just isn't my cup of tea, but it is far from being the worst MMORPG and it wouldn't even be on the list when you consider how some others are in far worst shape.

Are you seriously listing EQ2 and CoH and FFXI as bad MMORPG's?  I guess you don't know what bad is.  Your list sucks because it doesn't even come close to listing the truly bad MMORPG's out there.

Yes there are more goals, not just hack base and get exp.  You can add modules from caves to give you added bonuses.  Capturing caves also gives incentives.  Gme mechanics have improved and will continue to improve  - more tweaks to PS are in the works.

I actually left the game for a month soon after CC was released.  It caused my gaming rig to not work when ever I tried playiong for longer than 1hr.  I constantly CTD'd or my system just froze up.  Turns out it was a glitch in the CC programming that didn't like AMD's.  That has been fixed now.  I went back after just being gone a month and haven't looked back.  I no longer CTD, the game never freezes on me - ever - and I get upwards of 90+ fps in the largest of battles.  Is the game performance better than it use to be - yes.  Is it better for people with 1.3ghz cpu's and 512 of ram - no.   You need at a minimum of 1gig - 2 is awesome!  Get a 2.0ghz cpu( Pentium 3 or better or equivalent - I have an AMD FX53 on an awesome Asus Mobo).

Next to sniping CE is my fave.  They have mentioned giving us CE love in the near future.  Like deployable manned turrets, deployable medical terminals, and inviso bubbles.  :)

What keeps me going?  I absolutely love PS.  I have played ever MMORPG and or bet's them from UO to EQ2 and none of them can touch Planetside for sheer fun.  I do not play games to go to "wirtual work or a virtual job"  - Planetside is none of that.  It is fun from the first time you sign on and keeps on going, and going, and going.

Wouldnt you like the ability to:

1)  Build your own tower?

2)  Raze enemy town so the zerg would stop spawning there?

3)  Make your adjacent town more powerful, so they wouldnt in their right mind attack you while you were afk for 30 minutes?

4)  Cut off your enemy armies supplies by surrounding the town, and let your enemy starve to death instead?

5)   Outflank your enemy?

6)   Take advantage of a weak spot in your enemies defensive line, and exploit it?

7)  Build a wall around enemy town, so they cant despawn, and then respawn 1,000 meters behind you and attack your rear using magical teleportation devices?

6) Again, we do that all the time.  It is called strategy.  See their weakness and exploit it to your advantage.  Didn't you ever play PS? If you did, you must not have played with a good outfit and you must never have used TS.

Shae, if you are following this demented thread that closely to have counted how many times I called the jerk a jerk, then I think you have some issues to deal with. Thanks for keeping this thread bumped!

Edit: Oh I don't have any problem calling him a jerk, immature and computer illiterate, because it is true. But I never told him to STFU. I said that is probably what he would tell me to do since it was something he is very keen of doing. Please get your facts straight before posting them.

Excuse me Recon, did I say PS is bug free? Of course the game has bugs, just like any other MMO on the market today - all of them are buggy. I asked you to name me one that isn't full of bugs. Planetside has its share of bugs, and some that you mentiond are rare and do not occur all the time as you would have people believe.

The balance issues you speak of in the game of Planetside are minor compared to most other games. I stand by what I said and will continue to say that PS is the most balanced online game. At the same time, you are acting like someone totally new to this genre with your statements. Balancing in MMO's is an ongoing thing. It never ever stops - ever. Anyone that plays these games knows that.

As for all the other stuff you went back and commented on, you are just out right lying now.

To anyone that is interested in Planetside. Do not take mine or Recons words on how the game is. There is a free trial available. Give the game a go. Make up your own mind.

I don't think I have been to nasty toward Recon, in fact I'm staying quite civil. I debate him openly with things about the game and counter his points with what is known and he doesn't refute them. He just keeps saying that Planetside is a bad MMO, the developers are bad, the game community is bad...and that is just not true.

If he or anyone else is going to go around and do nothing but slam a game that he had a bad experience with - constantly for the soul purpose of hurting the game - then I as a fan of the game will do my best to balance it. As long as Recon is going to keep slamming the game of Planetside I'll keep on refuting him with what I know about the game.

Oh and he is being a jerk. There is no better way to say it, because only a jerk would do what he is doing. Kinda reminds me of the boy that sat behind me in 3 grade and kept pulling my ponytail. He was being a jerk - just as Recon is being one now. He is entitled to be a jerk all he wants. I am also entitled to voice my opinions to refute his statements or as in the case of the little jerk that sat behind me stand up and smack him upside the head. :p

Recon, PS has its problems, the biggest being performance issues for computers that are on the slow side. This is a well known fact. As for balance issues, there are a few, very few. Nobody denies that, and PS developers are always tweaking to balance things better. I again challenge you to name me one MMO that doesn't have these issues. You say our gaming community is ignorant and arrogant toward the game and toward those that say anything negative about the game. Wrong and wrong. We know about our game, we know its flaws, weaknesses and its strengths. You can say what you want about PS, but at least do it in a manner that doesn't come across as someone that is trashing and bashing the game - and you do with your post. Want to say the PS has performance issues, fine, you're not saying anything that isn't all ready known, but then again you should mention that PS forums offer a slew of information on how to tweak your gaming rig. Some say it works, others dispute this. I say it works because I have seen first hand what a little tweaking can do using the info on the PS tech forums.

The people that play PS are very, how should I say this - gung ho - about the game Planetside. Take for example the people in the outfit I play with. 70% are either military or ex-military. Some are even away right now as I type this and in harms way over in Iraq and Afghanistan. These guys are passionate about there gaming, in general(gamers tend to be that way), and about PS. They are some of the most helpful and friendly people you'll ever meet. I know there are hundreds of others that play the game that like the game as much as our outfit does. So we're a tight knit gaming community over there and Recon you know that. How is that a bad thing? When planetside movies website was about to go under the gaming community stepped up and made sure the website wouldn't flounder. When we saw our population numbers start to drop we didn't wait for SOE to start advertising, we took it upon ourselves to do it. This makes us a bad gaming community?

In the mean time. If you are a gamer and want to try a very fun MMO that is a little bit of an RPG, but plays like an FPS with a bit of RTS thrown in for good meassure. Don't take mine or anyone elses word for how the game is. Experience it yourself in the 7 day free trial offer. Then come to your own conclusions about the game.

I stand by what I said. AO's PvP is MMORPG based, that means it is all handled by randomly generated subset of numbers to determine the outcome of a fight between players. So levels + gear in AO = win, just like 98% of all other MMORPG's. The only true and best form of PvP is FPS style.

There is no random chance that my shots are going to miss in PS. I either hit or miss based on my skill at playing the game. Sure their is the CoF to deal with, but that is not something that is randomly generated. PvP in a standard fair MMORPG just doesn't work.

SWG has a horrible PvP system in it. One of the worst ever, and the CU hasn't done much to improve it one bit. That is why the CU was implemented in the first place. A very large majority of the player base in SWG said the same thing just after the game was released and that is why a large portion didn't stick around to play it.

You can sit here and say anything you want about standard fair MMORPG pvp mechanics and how well they work and I'll always disagree because I have seen how terrible they are first hand. AO's pvp is not all that great, AC's is better and it is a 5+ year old game. But none beat PS.
