Did you try to set the AllowFakeFullScreen=False
It's set to True by default but setting it to False might help you a bit.

Some other normal things to try and turn down to help performance.

Turn down player crowd to 0
Turn all shadows off
Turn videopost off
 Set enginespeed to medium/high
Set framerate to 30

I don't know what your rig is but i'm playing LOTRO with a 3½ year old rig where my CPU's internal cache is fried.
Because of that i have to restart my pc like 50 times sometimes to start windows because it freezes a lot.
1 Ghz Amd
Ati 9800 Pro
1 Gb ram.
Turned off 8x AGP support
Turned off fast AGP writing
DOWN clocked my FSB to 100 Mhz so it runs at 1 Ghz because then i can sometimes start my PC.

Off course i have to play on low/medium settings but it runs surprisingly well compared to what i have done to my system
But if my rig can play it i guess everyones should too.

ohh and adding 1 Gb more ram so you have atleast 2 GB really helps alot in breetown for example.
Seen the difference on a buddies PC and it really helped adding 1 Gb Ram.
Ram is cheap nowadays.

The UI still needs some work.
They really need to work on the scaling.

Look here from this screenie i found on the EU forums how much the UI fill if you play on lower resolution.

http://img117.imageshack.us/img117/5955/screenshot00465qe9.jpg

Radar is to huge.
Raidbars takes  up way to much room.

When you then try to turn up your resolution your toolbars and chatwindow becomes to small.

Scaling Turbine,,scaling.

I think it's pretty safe to say Turbine has that mmorpg on the market with the best graphic that runs smoothly on the lowest requirements.
Even WoW lagged more on my rig than it does in LOTRO.

Just don't play LOTRO with only 64 MB on your graphiccard and only 512 Mb in your PC.
That's now a very pleasant experience.

Middle earth has been scaled down big time.
Ingame a trip from Bree town to Hobbiton takes about 15 minutes on foot.

In the books that distance is about 125 miles if you look on the various middle earth maps on the net based on the books.

That means my minstrel can run 600 miles an hour ;)

Or it means that the worldsize has been scaled down approx 60 times.

You would never get anywhere if this was middle earth every inch an mile.

Sure you would but it would just take time to get from place to place

/tell player :Hey buddie, want to go out and group some,,I'm in Hobbiton atm.
/player tells you:Sure but i'm in Breetown.Give me 13 hours and i will be there.

The extra 5$ my Visacard charges is because i pay in another currency than my country have.
I think Mastercard does the same but not sure.

Are you sure thats not your bank adding charges?
(I have payed in foreign currency lots of times with my VISA & never had any extra charges).

Ahh yeah it's the bank,but it's still extra 5$ each month ;)
I'm still sure my lifetimeaccount is a good deal.

I bought a lifetime account and for me it's a good value because i always grew tired of a game and leave, but i always return later on.
Besides the normal monthly 15$ my creditcard company also charge 5$ pr transaction so it's 20$ pr month for me .
i will never have to pay that monthly fee so those saved money also comes into the calculation.
So for me that evens out within the first year and then it's a free ride after that.

I don't understand why people keep saying there is no PvP, when clearly there is.  Players fighting other players... isn't that PvP?  Are you guys mad at the limited play-field for PvP and just overstating the issue, or do you really not understand how it works?

You make a monster, you give him a name, you do quests with him, he gets stronger, tougher and meaner as you play him. Over time you raise your armor and attack ratings and even upgrade your physical appearance.  I understand that the PvP is implemented differently than in other MMOs, but you are still fighting against other players... you can even take your main character in to combat against other real players who are playing their monster.  You just can't kill an elf with your hobbit or take your orc to downtown Bree....

Different PvP doesn't really equal no PvP.

Exactly.
I think most of those who wine about there is no PvP has not spent a lot of time in the battleground there currently is or they are judging the system from the beta's point of view which is incorrect.
A few months after the release 24 april i'm sure that the battleground will be a popular zone to visit and wrack up some Destinypoints for buffs, titles and PvP fun.
Plus Turbine also said they will be looking into many enhancements for PvM
battleground because they want that kind of PvP to be a fully playable and fun endgame enjoyment.
I'm sure that in the future we will see more battlegrounds.
maybe new weapons.armor for use in the PvM zone attained by getting PvM points and so on?
Maybe some locked keeps ala DAOC and siege engines?

Judging the battlezone from the beta is not fair.
Give it atleast 2 months after release wso enough players have maded it to level 50 and then let's see how it works out.

Man i'm so glad Codemasters in Europe has decided that they will make some officially tagged roleplay servers so people know how to play on those.
Why Turbine didn't do that is really really weird.

Not having roleplaying servers in one of the best roleplayingworlds is a big mystery.

Stuff are only decaying and not destroyed.
Nothing will ever break even if it hit 0% condition.
Then you just have to reapir it back to 100%

Don't try and play on the minimum requirements with 512 Mb ram and a 64Mb graphiccard.
When will gamecompanies be honest and list the minimum requirements so it fits a machine that can play the game at 25 FPS at all times.

You need atleast 1 GB ram and you will love 2Gb unless you want to lag quite a bit in crowded areas such as breetown or ettenmoor battleground.

Play it with Turbines minimum requirements and you are in for a very laggy experience.

The £5 pre-order open beta thingy from Codemasters, is that with the high-rez client? I close beta'd it but that was with the low-rez client and it almost turned me off the game until someone pointed out that it was with the low-rez client and the final client is much better :)

Thanks
Dave

No you need the founders DVD to get the high rez files and since codemasters founderpack is download only you will have to wait until you get the retail version to install the high rez files, but it's only 10 days so no biggie.

The highrez files btw enhances mostly armor.
The normal gameworld is not that much better looking but armortextures looks tons better.

img293.imageshack.us/img293/4095/lowhighej4.jpg

If you live in the UK,maybe some psycical shops have some preorder DVD's to sell if you insist on getting the high rez files from scratch before release.

This is btw the reason why i bought the European collectors edition because it contains lifetime account but not preacces and those 10 days i don't care about when i get a lifetime account :)

Thanks for everyones help :)

Dave

Uhmm you need the preorder founders pack to be able to play April 14th.

Some sites sell their retailversions of LOTRO including the preorder founders pack,so check that out first.
If you just preorder the retail version it's not sure the founders pack is included.

Turbine and Codemasters could have handled this issue a lot better because it's the most confusing offer any gamecompany ever has made hehe and it's not helping one bit that some websites sell the games with or without the founders pack.

Codemasters own site still have the EUROPEAN preorders for sale for 5£

You need to buy the preorder if you want to take advantage of the lifetime offer or the cheaper monthly fees.

I'm confused, granted I am usually confused but now I'm not confused than normal :-P

How come codemasters are selling the game for £5 but everyone else is charging £25 for the standard edition. Whats the difference between the two?

Thanks

Dave

Basically you need 2 versions.

1 EU preorder that cost 5£ sat codemasters that allows you to play from April 14th-23th April.
1 EU Standard game that cost 32£ that will allow you entrance to the game at normal release.

If you buy both from Codemasters you will get a 5£ coupon if you buy the preorder first, and then you can buy the game for 27£.
Just need to make sure you buy the preorder first.

You will get some codes with the preorder pack(founders program) and then you can choose to use those offers after release.
Lifetime account for 99.99£ or 6 months for 36£

When you order the founders preorder pack from Codemasters you only get a key in your email,so you have to download the entire game yourself prior to April 14th.

It's a bit confusing because they called the founders packs for preorders and then at the same site have a full retail preorder version.

So in short.
A lifetime account will minimum cost you from codemasters.

Preorder pack 5£
Retail version 32£ - 5£ + postage
Lifetime founders offer 99.99£
