So while ONE of these games alone might not dethrone WoW,  multiple games all taking subs from wow could dethrone it in the long run. LOTRO started this. The truly casual players left WoW for LOTRO. This put a small chink in WoWs subpscription armor.  POTBS has released and again, a small chunk taken out of the sub armor for WoW.  In 08 your going to have WAR take a substantial chunk out of said sub armor. AoC takes a chunk. Aion takes a chunk. TCOS takes a chunk. Other smaller but known mmos take there chunk. All of a sudden WoW has been nocked down to reality and verry possibly one of these other MMO's have higher numbers.

A lot of wishfull thinking here from a Wow hater (said it himself).

The man should be told that NEW sales of LOTRO are now practically non existent (just look at amazon.com and PC games. LOTRO is not even any longer in the top 100 sales, while Wow stays with 4 products in the top 20.

As a matter of fact the last 2 months saw a big increase in PLAYING numbers of the Wow servers. In Europe the English spoken servers are about half High, Full and a handfull even locked. In the community it is being reckognized that older players came back after playing LOTRO and Vanguard for a couple of months. With the very poor introduction of Tabula Rasa, there is also NO alternative at the moment.

So in your view, I should correct the following: if LIKE practically all the MMO's launched in 2006 and 2007 the 2008 launches will also be mediocre at best, it could even reinforce the position of Wow as the defacto standard.

As a result instead of picking a nice percentage of Wow, these new products will be picking the few percentages from themselves. The dent LOTRO thought of having in the Warcraft subscriber membership isn't even a dent anymore but a boomerang back to Wow. As it should be, because LOTRO was too late, too little and too much copy with apalling animation and a complete lack of sup lvl 40 content.

I think that WAR will be the next big thing after Wow. In Euope certainly better received then the Conan B-film status (the comics aren't even known overhere).

2008 will be the year of Wow getting 10 millions active subs (eastern europe and the east) as big growing markets. Wile WAR will go between 500.000 and 1.000.000, but only if it will be a GOOD game. And the Closed Beta wasn't good... yet. So they will change the PVP battles and tweak the design, which is a good sign really.

I've played about 25 MMOs, but never got around to trying WOW.

Which proves that ....? You're "more" then the 9.300.000 subscribers of Wow in playing worse games ?

So much hatred against a very good WOW. I can't believe my eyes.

I am browsing through these website pages and I wonder: are you all blind ? or is it the "elite" feeling of wanting to be "above the masses" that makes you hate Wow?

Ever since I fell in love with this game, I tried other MMO's. Hell my computer has seen more install/uninstall programs then there are weeks in a year.

Or I stumbled into very old hat products; or I was bored to death in slooooooowly turning spaceships, sloooowly docking, without a sign of a human around (unless you call the post stamp in the upper left corner a human interface); or I walked into realms where no one was around; or I had lag at 5 frames per second; but most of all I ve seen totally unfinished products and complete rip offs but without the gameplay. What about fighting scenes where you can't even move in some MMO's...

I did all those MMO's that you kind of promote here and I only have one word left : pathetic.

Wake up guys ! When I see a new MMORPG I tried, that doesn't even have a central marketplace or Auction House (no matter how you call it) and is way behind in about every aspect of current Wow and it's been given 85% !!!!!!
