I'm betting it will work similarly to how it worked in DAoC.  You can dye the main color of your armor.  Pretty much every piece.  You'll get the best colors in dungeons and special quests.  There may be a vendor, but they won't sell all of the colors.  Black is surely going to be one of the most expensive, it always is.  There probably won't be any weapon dye, though maybe a slight tint may be possible, I don't know.

What would be cool is if you could color different parts of the armor.  The better the armor, more tintable sections in it.  So, for instance, you could color the main tunic part, the shoulders, the trim, the emblems and symbols(unless tied to lore), and stuff like that.  Not just the entire piece, but separate parts of it.  In the end, there will be people who make clown suits, but they would try that no matter what.  Though, you could get some really cool looking armor.  I doubt Mythic has even looked into it.  That's just my two cents.

Though, I imagine with the trophy systems and guild cloaks, tunics, shields... etc, there will be enough to differentiate between everyone.

We'll just have to wait and see.

Maybe they changed their minds and there will be GameCards, but I doubt it.

Too much money for EA?  So the biggest gaming company doesn't have enough money for game cards?  This would be extremely surprising news to me.. considering there's quite a few smaller companies out there selling game cards.

The OP shouldn't have needed to ask this question in the first place.  It takes a little common sense to think that a 3-month game card will probably be priced by taking the single month sub fee and multiplying it by 3.  It's called research, I'm being harsh, but the OP could have easily looked at WoW's game cards for an example.

Though i dont think its going to be uber popular, it is a nice little niche game, and am enjoying it for now until Bioware announces its new Star Wars game!!! (yes i know i am a dreamer :P)

If I had my way, we'd all be walking the beautiful lands of the Forgotten Realms in about 3-4 years from now =P

I just don't think Fallout would be a good setting for a MMO.

You know, two guys will meet up as warring factions and say things to each other until they figure out how to say things like.. "me hab big peen" or "U Lose" or "I Pwn U".. just like they did in WoW.

I was actually thinking about this exact topic yesterday, since I haven't seen anyone mention it yet.  Kind of funny how that works out.

i am totally kicking myself for even considering a reply to this dismal attempt at a troll thread... but, it is very clear you have absolutely no idea what WAR is or based on and cookie-cut could not be further from the truth.

Maybe it is level based but so what, this game revolves around player driven conflict, not some mindless PVE grind.

Course, if they decide to charge 20 a month for it i will just find another mmo with a more reasonable monthly price.

How is it NOT cookie-cut?
Are you a WoW fanboi?

FACT: level based How many games in recent history haven't been level-based?  Ultima Online and.. a game that is soon to be vaporware.

FACT: Quests to attain new level, items, gear ..etc.  All MMO's have this.  Even Ultima Online had quests, and it was 100% skill based.

FACT: run to location x to find y item and return to location x  Instead of focusing on the idea of the quest, focus on the content and immersion of the quest.  Focus on the quest types that WAR has that no other MMO has ever had.

FACT: Talk with NPC A for a quest before you can proceed to NPC B  I think we've talked about this, where WAR is the first game to have an auto task tracker, so if you have already killed 10 bears or collected 10 jewels, the NPC gives you the reward instead of making you do it all over again.  If you're referring to a "Quest Line".. than, well, I still don't see your point.

FACT: press either left or right mouse button and/or number keys 1-0 along shift or cntrl key in order to perform an action  I'm surprised no one has jumped all over this.  Exactly how would you propose that you move your character around?  Delete to move up, B to move down, R to move left and Num Lock to move right?  Seriously guy, would you have EA create a hand held controller with a wii stick so you can hack and slash your silly behind all over the room?  Should all games be shipped with blindfolds so we can all see what real skill is?  What exactly were you thinking when you typed this 'Fact'?

FACT: Player Vs Player or Realm Vs Realm What do you mean 'OR'.  Name another game that has meaningful, purposeful, pride-driven RvR.. and name one besides Dark Age of Camelot.  So.. you couldn't do it could you?  Mythic made that game.  Mythic is also making WAR.

...im sorry how is this not cookie-cut? and they want me/us to PAY more than the standard 14.95

...pfft like i said cookie-cut level based MMO nothing new!

I could waste my time telling you all the new things that WAR has that no other game has offered.  But will I really change your opinion?  Trolls lack the intelligence to be swayed.

Wow.. not, I don't mean the game.

I mean, wow.  Look at all the people who are pissing and moaning about a dollar or two for what we hope will be a good MMO.  I make a whopping 9 bucks an hour in a warehouse.  Paying 20 bucks a month, while I'd rather pay 15, wouldn't be hard at all for me.  I mean, clearing just over 1100 a month.. with all of my bills, 20 dollars is so easy to come up with, it's amazing..

I bet it will be 15.99-17.99 if there is a price increase.  Is it really that hard?  If you don't want to play, don't.  What happens if AoC is at least 15.99?  Will you not play any MMO?  Will you go back to WoW?  Are you guys really having a hissy fit over a total of 12-24 dollars a year?  Like another poster said.  I could go take a crap at work and make 3 bucks.  Just get over it, prices for everything eventually go up.  Do you really expect an MMO to be excluded?  I remember, and I'm only 24, when gas was $1.00 a gallon.  Where are we now?  You can cry about it, but 3 months from now you will be buying the game and paying the fee.  Don't believe me, but I know the stupidity of people.  You will give in to the herd mentality and moo yourself into a couple more dollars a month.  Yes, I'm calling myself a cow, at least I'm not in denial.

EA Mythic has already done a lot of things to warrant a price increase.  They've been the most communicative MMO company to date with it's fans.  Monthly videos, screenshots, video blogs, newsletters, art, concepts, etc.  This is roughly 3-4 months before release and we know almost everything about the game.  Mythic can give meaning to PvP.  What is the last game that you've played where you were actually proud, where you would defend your lands.. not for gear, but for pride.  The last I remember was DAoC.  Yeah, that was Mythic too.  The most in depth guild system in a high fantasy game to date.  The most unique character classes in any MMO to date,  24 completely different classes.   And room to add on with all of the lore available in expansions.  Public Quests.  Exploration Quests.  A Proven siege mechanic that no other game has been able to accomplish successfully.  Do I really have to go on?

If you don't see it that way.  Then don't play, don't pay, I won't miss you.  Some little kid parents will shell out the money and I'll just kill him instead of the whiners.  I mean seriously, what is that.. three packs of cigarettes.  Good thing I don't smoke.  You can't even buy an 8th of pot for that.. please.

They published it today , so i can understand that some of you still didnt get to read it. But as requested i posted a link.

I hate to bring this bad news ( some maybe see it as good news )

Mythic is not to be blamed at all. I dont think they have any influence at all in what EA will charge for game.

And well. We all know EA...

It isn't official until the Warhammer website posts it and is released at that price.

A fan site isn't anything I would call 'official'.

Q: Will the game require a monthly fee to play WAR?

A: Yes, and EA Mythic's President Mark Jacobs has stated that the subscription fee will quite possibly be more than the standard $14.99 that most MMOG's charge.

Here's your quote from the first post.  Notice the highlighted in red section.  'Will be' and 'Will possibly be' are completely different.  Like I said, it is nothing more than conjecture from a fan site.  I will concede that there is a possibility that the price will be a dollar higher than other MMO's.  EA wouldn't be the first to raise prices and they definitely won't be the last.

Well, unless you think $135 is too much for a sound card.  Just get an audigy gamer, I'm sure it would work just fine.

btw Shoal prices for games never go down they only go up with increased spending on making the game.

For ones that can not find Ten Ton Hammer web site ...

This is under my definition of being a troll.  Being so narrow sighted and illogical that it blinds all form of intelligent thinking.  I would be extremely surprised if the monthly cost was more than 15.99.  Even WAR's FAQ that I quoted earlier stated that most games are between 10 and 16 US dollars.  I highly doubt they would go over their own estimated price range for the MMO market.

And even if they did, I don't have a problem paying it if it is a good game.  If you have a problem, don't play it.  I certainly won't miss you.

EA STRIKES AGAIN !

Here is the FAQ from the Warhammer website.

Will there be a subscription fee to play this game?
Yes. Given the expense of creating the game, maintaining the customer service system (in-game, phone and email) and creating new content, the only way for a company to justify these expenses is with a monthly subscription fee. However, when you look at the monthly fee (usually $10-$16USD) that a player pays to access the content almost 24x7, there are few entertainment values that can top that. Basically, for the price of one movie ticket in NYC, a small soda and a small cup of popcorn you have access to an ever-changing and growing world on demand (minus short downtimes for server or software upgrades).

Now this statement is official.  It should be the only one that you are concerned about.  If indeed the price for WAR is 15.99 or 16.99, will you not buy it because you'll be missing a dollar or two a month?  I certainly don't care if it's 24.99, as long as it is a good game and keep me entertained for prolong periods of time.

However, I do NOT believe that this kind of realm pride is something that can be automatically assumed will occur in WAR. It just canot be built in, it comes from the players themselves. It is my hope that we will see this pride develope in WAR ..the influx of DAOC enthusiasts make this possibility more likely than other games.

Here is to hoping

Torrential

Play on a RPG server and I bet you'll see pride like what we saw in DAoC.

I couldn't stand it anymore after for the third time, alliance came in and killed thrall.  No one showed up, no one cared, there was no retaliation.  There was nothing to gain, so no one bothered to defend or attack.  They were too busy gaining rep or in an instance for gear.

Graphics always matter, to an extent - anyone who says they do not matter at all is lying through their teeth. I am not seeking technically advanced graphics, else I would be playing EverQuest II or awaiting Aion. However, I do expect nice, clear, consistent graphics that are visually appealing. Thus far, WAR has done that, and has had good artistic direction that captures Game Workshop's style nicely.

However, "The Inevitable City" looks nothing like the rest of the footage released in terms of quality, that is the problem. You look at any other piece of the world and it looks great, and then you look at this hideous, jagged mess and wonder what the heck happened.

The rest of the game looks great, but anyone who says that "The Inevitable City" is fine and up to par with EA Mythic's other work needs their blinders removed. Just because we like the game does not mean we cannot criticize it when it fails to meet expectations, especially ones it sets on itself.

I am still hoping that the city will be revised, and I am sure it will.

Oh, and watch this video: Preview of Altdorf

See how nice this one is? It is gorgeous and far superior to The Inevitable City, so clearly they can do better. This is the standard I am holding them to. Altdorf has been in progress for a lot longer, which is why I hold out hope The Inevitable City will catch up in quality.

I think it's pretty immature stating that if someone likes how the inevitable city looks, then they are fools.  I myself like how it looks.  There are no details, npcs and such.  It is just a shell of a city for viewing pleasure.  There is also no lighting.  Just because you don't like something doesn't mean that it's bad.  Maybe you just have different tastes.

As for Altdorf, it's supposed to be pretty.  The Inevitable City is supposed to be chaotic and dark.  What did you expect?  Wait for the finished product and then judge.  That's the same as saying the graohics suck after watching alpha footage.

Whoa!   Pre-2nd Beta PVP videos aren't really awsome?

TELL ME IT AIN'T SO BOB!

Are you upset they aren't hopping around like morons?   Ya I know, real melee and ranged combat has people doing that, just watch any movie you see them flipping and hopping and looking like rabbits all while..

Bah you aren't worth my time to finish that.    You won't get the joke on you.

Omg, video's from around the time the release was planned? Ow noes! The game must be going through TONS of improvement stilL! You're Right! What was I thinking!

Honestly, get over yourself. Combat mechanics won't be drastically changing at this point in beta.

Lol, it's funny that you have the pick the most worthless example in WoW and pretend it's common place. Anyone hopping around is wasting time and most likely dead soon in that game ^^ But keep fooling yourself if you think a good PvPer does that ;)

Okay, lets give you some good examples... it took WoW four years to add seige.  Almost two years to add weather, WEATHER!  It took them over two years to add a LFG panel.  These are things that most games before it were launched with.

EA Mythic are obviously making sure the game is as close to finished as possible.  How is this a bad thing?  You have no idea how finished the game was while watching that video, do you?  No.. you don't.  If it comes out looking like crap, people won't play it.  Until then, don't pretend that you have any idea about how WAR even plays.

Here's some of your own medicine.  Oh Noes!  You're so awesome at PvP!!  You totally pwned that boss mob!!!  Oh wait.. yeah..

It might of been said already but WAR is a very Instanced game.

City seige's are not huge they are instance, for example, the start of the city capture will be smashing the gates, this is done in Instances, 24v24 per instance, so if 240 players want to participate then 5 instances of the "city gates" are created... the points between these instances are added together to dictate when the gates fall, then its onto another 24v24 instance and so on.

In the begining mythic wanted non instanced city sieges but they have since changed this long ago (no big announcment ofc)... to any 1 who has played DAoC you will know why, you either have a laggy 100v100 or a smooth 24v24.

so onto the topic, 1GB will be fine, the only time it might become an issue is in open PvP, but if you have run WoW 40v40 Battle ground or 40man raids you be fine. and yes WAR will be scaleable.. they are going after the WoW player base so it will need to be.

Either you just broke the NDA, meaning.. you're just about to get kicked out of beta.. or you don't have a clue what you're talking about..

Nowhere in any of the FAQ's, video blogs, podcasts or dev videos have they mentioned anything involving 24vs24.  You get the number 24 from the maximum allowable battlegroup size, which I believe is made up of four, six man parties.  In recent dev videos they have talked about having "hundreds" of players in a city siege area at a time, and successfully pulling it off.  They never mentioned anything about a max of 24 people.  That wouldn't make any sense at all, how would you control who took that part of the city over if there were 50 instances with varied results?  There have been no mention of anything that you've said..

Now, you might be confusing this with an instanced battleground.  They will have player capped BG's.. but I'm almost 100% positive that city sieges play out completely different.  There are several 'zones' inside the city that can spread players apart.. but no capped limit.

Where do people get this stuff?

Not only that.. but if WoW can pull off 40v40 in close proximity and have little lag with a HORRIBLE net-code.. I have no doubt that with a decent chunk of RAM, that you could be in larger than 50v50 battles without much performance drop in WAR.

Druid, Necromancer or Assassin?
And if so what are their names in WAR?
Thanks.

Necromancer: Kinda
Assassin: Kinda
Druid: No
For a Necromancer, it depends on what type of necromancer you're looking at. There is a character class that uses life-stealing techniques called the Disciple in the Dark Elf army.
Assassin you probably wanna take a look at the Witch Elf or the Witch Hunter, they seem to be the closest things to "Assassins".
To my knowledge there's not going to be any namby-pamby tree-hugging druid classes. Atleast to begin with. Generally of the armies given so far, Orks, Dwarves, Chaos, Empire, Dark Elves, and High elves, only the High Elves have any capacity for compassion and possibly caring for the environment.
If you really really want to play a druid-like class, your best bet is to wait and hope that Mythic adds the Wood Elves in an expansion. See they atleast like the trees and forests so you might get some druid-like stuff there.

Would like to mention that I like hybrids such as Druids and I'm going for Night Elf disciple. Sure, no stupid forms and worthless nature spells but they can do damage through dots and they can heal. Seems like the best hybrid class there will be.

Well, there are a lot of hybrid classes in the game.  They just aren't like the "I can do anything" druids from WoW.

I'm interested in being a warrior priest.. though it's a little annoying that in every cinematic trailer for any warhammer game.. the chaos chosen ends up smashing him in the head with a huge maul.
