Wow... another year of nothing. It still amazes me the stupidity that people possess in these Darkfall forums. Defending what you believe in is one thing.. but even being proven wrong and getting your nose shoved into it doesn't change your mind. It's like everyone and everything points to the fact that grass is green, yet some of you still believe that it is yellow and that one day, the grass will change and we'll all be proven wrong. Yes, piss is yellow too, that's about the only way it's going to change =P
This game has been in development for almost a decade. Does anyone know what a decade is? I'll tell you! It's 10 freaking years. How many games have been developed after that? I'll venture to guess that very few have pulled that off, if any. And certainly not a MMO of any kind. They promise a 2003 release, you get nothing. 2004 release, you get nothing. 2005 release, again, nothing. And in 2006 you think you see a glimmer of hope, nope.. nothing. 2007? No. It's now 2008 and they have yet again missed the biggest gaming convention of the year. Even the smallest, crappiest game companies with horrible games come to this event. It is the mack daddy of events. Yet, Darkfall can't even manage to show up. I would have felt better if they just said... "Hey, we're here! Sorry, no presentations! But, we're here!"... So.. they either can't afford a booth, or they don't have a game, a logical analysis would dictate.
Yet, whenever Vaporware is mentioned, it's met with scorn and hot tempers. Ignorance doesn't even describe the steadfast denial of these Darkfall fans. It's more like borderline insanity. This is why I'm putting the next bit at the bottom, just to see how many people actually read through before resorting to personal attacks. I personally believe that if this game is made, it should be great. I'm an old UO'er. I love this type of play style. If it hit the shelves tomorrow, I'd be there with box in hand at the register. You better believe it. That said, I'm not stupid. I'm not going to make myself look like an absolute moron because I like what Darkfall has promised.. forget the fact that they've broken their promise about 10 times now. Until this company shows the gamer fans respect. Unless this company interacts with the community as if we are actually people. Until this company stands at E3 or has a press release of ANY significance. Unless I see anything other than broken promises... This game is...
Wait for it..
VAPORWARE! |

When the game you're playing starts to feel like a second job, then it's time to think about quitting. Vent doesn't bother me, being serious and organized during raids doesn't bother me, raiding times don't bother me. If you have all of those things in place, it makes your raiding experience much easier, and MUCH quicker.
With me, I quit WoW when I woke up one day, with no job, no money, on day 45 of my rep grind. The day when I realized that I just spend almost two months preparing for the opportunity to raid, leveling up to 70. This was right after the Outland. And I knew what was to come. Countless days of grinding a raid dungeon, 8 hours a day, because we don't know the encounters and we don't have the gear to blaze through it yet. Now, normally I'd just say, but then I'd be okay, with my tier 4. But, I already knew what would happen. They'd release a new dungeon, with a new tier and I'd have to spend months to get ready for that. Only to have another dungeon come out and I'd have to grind and grind and grind some more to be successful.
it really is when you stop having fun and it becomes more of a job than a game. |

People are playing the game for their first time... they don't know what buttons and skills to use, hence why it looks slow. And the spell effects actually remind me of DAoC, considering, you know, the same guy who did the spell effects in DAoC is doing the spell effects again in WAR. How the hell is 4 out of 24 classes 1/3 of the classes? Fortresses have been put in place of the other capital cities, and you still need to sack both fortresses before you can capture Altdorf or the Inevitable City. And the content has NOT been cut, only delayed from the launch of the game. If you think this is anything like World of Warcraft, have you been following the development of this game, at all?
No one has seen dx10 from AoC either, and it's nearly 2 months after release.. who's to say WAR will deliver?
I know you probably made a mistake.. but how can I give you any credit when at the end of your reply, you claim that I said WAR is like WoW. Because... I mean, you even quoted my post.. I obviously didn't say that. I'm not going to repeat what I said.. However, it is obvious that I was speaking of the typical gamer mentality after the emergence of WoW.
Don't give me they are playing for their first time BS. I played AoC PvP weekend for my first time and I was still able to use several different spells and abilities consecutively. The first time I played WoW, I actually did fairly well. I mean, anyone playing there probably has some sort of video game background on a PC. They've probably played a game where you actually had to move your mouse and press buttons. No? Does every person that goes to a convention only know how to press 1 button? Are they forced at gunpoint to a 1 button maximum? Please. |

I love how people think it makes them look cool when they say fanboi or troll. When someone doesn't like something, they are a troll, no matter how sensible it is. If someone likes something, they are a fanboi, even if from a completely unbiased point of view. There are definitions to these terms, some of you do know that right?
To this poster. You point may have been talking about graphics. But since when did a game with good graphics even do anything without gameplay? I won't wait long, because I know you have no answer to that. If you show me a video, I'm going to comment on it. I commented on it. I still see stale combat, bad animations, horrible DAoC spell effects and anit-gravity settings. Those are things that I don't like. The environments are cool.. and the character models are pretty decent. So am I a fanboi because I like the models and atmosphere and a troll for not liking animations and crappy combat? Or does it seem like I'm actually being pretty logical with my stance on these things?
By the way, I didn't mean 1/3 of the classes, 6 is conveniently positioned above 3, so unfortunately I made a mistake.. and I rarely pay much attention. The idea is still there.. they can't even finish their classes and cities on time.. but I do have to say, if they make good on their other promises, it might beat out AoC.. though right now, that wouldn't be very hard. |

Some people just can't be helped sometimes. I wish they'd release more high setting pics. It really puts a bad taste in your mouth when all you ever see are low setting pics and videos. Hell, my girlfriend even thinks that it looks like WoW.. I told her that she's an idiot. lol. |

Don't you guys find anything wrong with a game developer botching 4 classes and not even being able to finish 50% of their cities before launch? So.. Elves don't have a home.. Orcs don't have a home? Four other playfields? I mean.. It's like...
My arm was cut off!
Wait, it's great because then I can make people carry things for me! WAGGHH!

The only difference between these two games right now is that one promised everything, providing only 3/4 of it's content and the other is actually telling us that it's not providing a good chunk of it's vital features. That effects hype.
your trying to bash WAR because some content was cut months before release when your game of choice is AOC ? the same AOC that didn't test PvP , sieges or any content above level 20 before release ? lol
This has nothing to do with MY game. It's the only game out that was worth playing, I've played it for 2 months, and just as I've stated numerous times, the content isn't there in the end-game. If WAR was released first, I would have tried that, but it wasn't. Not only did they push it back, but then they removed content because there were design flaws.
They actually did test some content above 20 before release. My guess is that they finished most content up to 50. That's why I've already said, how many times now?.. That the game is better than any other until level 50. That's where you'll see signs of lacking content.
You can sit here and defend all you want to. It's my opinion that from what I've seen and heard, WAR isn't in good shape. And if you follow a common trend of other failed MMO's, WAR is in the same boat, heading down the same river, looking over the same waterfall. |

If any of you actually played it, you'd know that it is their end game content... or lack of it that is really hurting them. They've quickly fixed most of the performance and gameplay bugs.
Their core game mechanics and first 50 levels are miles ahead of WoW in my opinion. And that's really what WAR has to beat, let's be honest with ourselves. |

interesting... AoC was a 7.4... and your point? Did you play the game?
It had the smoothest launch of any MMO ever to be released. Yes, better performance and more subscribers than... wait for it.. even WoW! Imagine that. The first 50 levels were the best leveling experience of my life. Good storyline, good quests, a wide array of environments. Lots of fun PvP.
Unfortunately, they promised a few things that weren't in at launch.. most of them are in now, but buggy at best. Still, if I were to score the first 3/4 of the game, I'd give it a 10 of 10, and the last quarter, 2 of 10.(They actually had raid bosses, most of which you could glitch out) So, I'd certainly give the game somewhere between 7.5 and 8.0.
Honestly, I think WAR is higher than it should be. Stale graphics, bad combat. Bad animations. Bad spell effects. The environments do seem pretty nice though. And now they've axed half of their vital content because they are too inept as game designers. It only deserves a 7.0 at best.
I think I gave this game a 9 or 10 about 3 months ago. So don't bring the "troll" or "fanboi" comments here. |

Wow, I hate using the whole fanboi/troll thing. It bothers me, it really does. But come on people. In every combat clip that I've watched since the first one was ever released, it's just a bunch of different classes standing around, and every 3 or 4 seconds, they swing. Anyone who's played DAoC should be able to tell where they got their spell effects from. WoW Anti-gravity garbage. Characters look like they are floating along the surface, rather than actually running on it. The graphics are slightly better than WoW's and you guys are going nuts? Are you serious?
So now they are axing 1/3 of their classes, 2/3 of their cities and a bunch of other very vital things to the game... yet people still get excited over graphics that aren't even that great to begin with. Damn Blizzard for bringing in so many new gamers. Their only concept of an MMO is World of Warcraft. |

There have been several performance upgrades... yes, my guess is that you logged into the game and played very sparingly on a goat bus of a computer and decided to spread lies across the forums because you don't have a high end or even middle market computer to play AoC on.
When people show me facts, I may change my stance on things.. but when people flat our lie and when they have no clue about anything that they are talking about.. that's what bugs me. News flash!! People are leaving because of the lack of high end content. Not because of performance issues or mechanics problems. You would know this if you played the game. |

I've been getting these black screens for about two weeks at random. Yet, they decide to add dancing.. or a sound for leveling up.. WHICH DOESN'T EVEN WORK!
Seriously.. GG Funcom.. try fixing some performance issues, we can wait for you to figure out how you're going to handle Border Kingdoms.. but in the meantime.. I'd love to be able to play.. without my screen going black, running me into a raid mob and wiping my whole raid party. |

Please tell me why you would ever need to go back to Tortage for any reason. Quests? No, obviously not. To help guildies? No, it takes one day to get to level 20. So.. I'm kind of stumped here.. I bet you are too.
I haven't gone back there and I'm level 75. The only few times that I've killed a low level player is through RP. And then I left. No camping, no slaughtering innocents for no reason. Hell, if you want to gank people.. go to a level 50 zone and do it. You can still go to places like Tesso and kill a bunch of level 30's. Why do you insist on having to go back to White Sands Isle? You need nothing there.
This is just an immature kid complaining because he can't get his rocks off by destroying everyone in the zone. They don't have the skills to kill people anywhere near their level, so the only way for them to be happy is to take it out on defenseless players. It really is sad.
If you want to see that content again.. make a new character. |

However, I have 8GB of DDR2 high latency gaming RAM and I still experience freezing up, while not even in big fights. I'm sure we'll see some improvements. Give it time, they can't fix everything at once. |
