Finally if a game doesnt have anything to offer u at endgame, its a really shitty game. Same thing goes if the game is so easy that u can grind toon after toon to max level.

While I don't think you've done much research at all on WAR, here are some facts you might enjoy. The tome of knowledge keeps track of everything you do in a game. That means, exploring and killing large amounts of mobs are in there as well. For doing this, you receive experience. Also, you are completing quests for the above situations, without having to pick up the quest first.

(example)

So, you get done killing X mob for 2 hours, go to town to sell some, and realize this guy in the tavern wants to give you a piece of armor for all of those mobs you just mercilessly slaughtered. I do enjoy that concept.

Also, for WAR, they have stated they want to leveling to go kind of quick, due to the main RvR setting of the game goes on in Tier 4. Ranks 1 to 20 are setup to be a tutorial/training part of the game, while 20 to 40 gives you a more solid build to play with, and then you run around at 40 slaughtering people at will.

If you happen to be one of those people who don't like PvP, I would recommend sticking with one of the older games out. WoW, LoTRO, TR, or something else which promotes mindless killing in PvE without you having to even notice there is a PvP side of the game.

Thank you for the correction.

But why would the sorceress be opened up to both gendder, and not some other class? Is there something in the lore for this, or did they just pick this class randomly to open up for both genders?

If they open the sorcerer class for both genders, couldn't they later add a male fersion of the Witch elves? The Warlock Elves or something?

Considering lore wise, the Witch Elves are the brides of Khaine, the lord of murder. For this to be a male version would be a gay elf in tight leather clothes, which barely cover anything... I don't think there's a big MMO ready to tackle that concept yet. :-)

thats what it says

Does this mean that WAR's Open Beta will also be capped?

Mythic has stated for a long time now that Open Beta will be limited to the people who win/attend events, and pre-order the game. They will not open up beta for everyone to play.

Edit: Sanya Thomas - Written Aug 06, Revised Nov 06. Look at the last beta stage.

  • Alpha: What began in July. Alpha does not have anyone playing who does not draw a paycheck from Mythic.
  • Double Secret Beta: That is just beyond alpha, and only includes people from EA Mythic Studio. Started in Summer 2006.
  • First Stage of Closed Beta (Beta 1): (Current stage) What we are in now. Sometimes called "Friends and Family," somewhat inaccurately, this is a stage where there is actually a game, but it is not usually very complete or even stable for that matter. In this first closed phase, they begin including people outside the EA Mythic Studio, but bound by the employee NDA.
  • Beta1.7: This is the stage you'll start seeing community testers. People who have tested for Mythic for years, or have been otherwise recommended to them as quality volunteer testers, are starting to be included. There is usually a restriction on how many people get in at this point, and often perfectly wonderful people are left out. Tentative date: Early 2007.
  • Beta2: Still closed and covered under NDA, invitees include prize winners, guilds that win the guild contest, and some members of the print and web media - usually the ones EA Mythic has relationships with. People who work at GW retail shops are getting in here, and there are some plans for existing Dark Age of Camelot players to be invited to check out their new sibling. There will be up to a thousand people by the end of Beta 2. Tentative date: Early spring 2007.
  • Beta3: Closed, NDA. EA Mythic will be choosing randomly from the giant pool of people who are subscribed to the WHO Newsletter. This phase will have thousands of people invited, possibly as many as ten thousand. Tentative date: Summer 2007
  • Final Beta: No NDA. Because there is no NDA, people often refer to this as "open beta." EA Mythic is not planning the kind of open beta where everyone with internet access can download the game and hop in. Probably everyone who pre-orders the game will be invited to this phase of beta. This phase will also invite winners from big media promotions. Tentative date: Summer 2007

Whoa, thanks man! You just gave me the flashback to LFG comics. I just reread all of them back up to current, and it was a good time spent.

Incase anyone hasn't read them, click here for some fun times.

Edit: The funniest part of the entire comic for me was on page 3.

Personally, I wasn't impressed with Crysis at all. It looked nice and detailed, but with how boring the game was, it was hard to fully enjoy it.

While I believe it was closer to 1:1 on PvP servers, it doesn't really matter. The Alliance wasn't more popular with the PvP crowd, and WAR will probably have a large PvP crowd.

Destruction is not the Horde in terms of appeal. It's not just about good or evil. The huge success of the Blood Elves showed that. In fact, the only two really 'evil' races of the Horde (Undead and Blood Elves) were the most popular by far.

Your choice to believe what you will. As for Undead and Blood Elves, it's fairly easy to understand. Undead had a very solid, overpowered racial with Will of the Forsaken which many people liked. Blood elves, along with being a "pretty race" for the horde and decent racials, also opened up the option of Paladins.

I personally am enjoying the fact that the top level gear won't be redone every 2-3 months. If they do something like Guild Wars, in the sense that it has the same stats but a unique look, I'd say go for it. That gives something to the gear grinders without making an impact on the rest of the top level gear.

The grind every few months for Arena/PvP gear in WoW is what killed the last little bit of enjoyment I actually got out of it. I guessed killed is a kind way of putting it. It's more like they completely annihilated any ounce of my being that wanted to play their game anymore, and then decided to keep doing it over and over. That sounds a bit more accurate.

True, the only problem is quite a few guild have been newly formed, and most of them don't look like they will live long. Considering most were formed for beta invites, I'd rather find a longer standing guild to join.

But the most powerful class in the game is the dwarven grudgebearer....

I personally play classes which have a high complexity level to master, and have a lot of things going on at once. That just happens to mostly be the pet classes and the ranged fighters. Sometimes I switch over and play a hybrid support/dps class, all depends on how I feel. I never follow the flavor of the month class.

Also, are you sure you don't mean a dwarven ironbreaker? You've been saying grudgebearer for a while, but there's no class called there as of now.

Tis sad; I'll probably end up joining an Aussie guild in WAR, and they are already shutting down on NA applicants. Oh well, if you do open up again to NA citizens who play during aussie times, let me know.

Personally, I don't care what AoC is doing. Several people, including me, have found it just sad that the Conan stories have been degraded into a game of that style.

As for the "Sweet Fatality", I find it pointless. I always view my goal as to kill people as quickly as I can and move on to the next. Sitting there for another 3-5 seconds to stomp on their head is just wasted time for me, and something I would very quickly get bored of seeing.

The only reason I still glance occasionnally at this title, it is because it is Warhammer.

These devs are wackos and I won't be playing their game unless they change CORE aspect to make sure someone can be happy in PvE.  But they won't.  They want everyone with a focus to RvR.  They can't change my focus in games now...

I don't care if 5% of their game is geared toward PvE...it must be FREE from RvR(and raiding) and then I will support it.  Without such a freedom, I won't put on shackles willingly.

I also hope the game has good PvE. I thought the PvE part of DAoC was good. Lot's of interesting dungeons, mobs, and grouping was good. PvE with an 8 man group was great.

I think Anofayle is saying that it should be an option to PvE, without getting ganked. I'll be really surprised if that's not an option in WAR.

Most remember DAoC. It was an ideal set up. You could PvE if you wanted in your realm, and not be bothered by RvR, not worry about getting ganked while you were busy working on some PvE goal.

If you wanted a little more excitement, you could go PvE in the frontier. You could still work on your PvE goals, but you might run into the enemy, which made it more exciting.

Then if you wanted PvP, you could go to a battleground, or go attack a keep, go to the enemies frontier, or whatever.

I know WAR won't be exactly the same, but I'm expecting something similar.

For those of us who have done research, or visited the EA Mythic website since January have likely seen this podcast. As stated, the game starts off 80% PvE and 20% PvP and gradually switches to 80% PvP and 20% PvE. You can advance to max rank without going into PvP combat, but this game is RvR. So, even just sitting and doing PvE quests, you are still participating in RvR. You are not fighting other people, but every action taken in this game helps your side achieve victory points which helps.

My guess is Anofalye can't tell the difference between PvE, PvP, and RvR in this game, and is just complaining due to a lack of information.

Hope they'll implement it at a later point.

I can only guess that they would want players you know, killing eachother, instead of talking about what sofa to put in their homes.

I looked at it ages ago due to it being a new MMO, and I usually start looking for a new one once I get bored with my current. At the time, it was WoW and I wanted something different. After some research, I found out it was going to be an RvR game, so that gave it two marks up. I remembered how much my friends liked DAoC, so there's three. Lastly, after I started reading the Warhammer lore, it really did interest me.
