In AOC you can build own cities and fight with it, and have sieges, and a nice combat style and bterret graphics? this is not in War? right?

Yes, in AOC you can build your own cities and fight in them.  This will be both a plus (if you are the victor) and a minus (if you end up the loser).  Both games will have sieges, combat style is a matter of preference, and till we play both games we won't really know which we like better.  Better graphics?  Maybe.  Will you be able to actually run more than 20 fps when 50 people are on screen might be the more important question for both games.

I'll be trying them both when they get released so I'll be sure to let you know.

Thanks mate,

It's the same character gaining PvE levels (up to 80) by killing NPCs and world monsters and gaining PvP levels (up to 20) by killing other players. At list this is my take from current level description. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.

do you like the level system from AOC more then War? or how you think about it.

Actually AoC has 80 PvE levels and 20 PvP levels. Somebody mentioned 5 mercenary levels but I don't recall reading anywhere about that. WAR does have 40 levels. Thing is, the amount of levels is irrelevant. Lineage 2 (since you mention it) had 75 levels (the basic ones), but it took ages to reach 75 (I won't comment on how much of a grind it was in the early chapters I was playing, no idea about today's status).

As for the sieges, only the internal Funcom testers can tell you how they are or how they are meant to be played out. Normally keeps would need tradeskillers to gather the resources both to build the keep and the siege equipment. I'm not aware if these things are available for beta testing at this point. Bottom line, noone outside the company has a concrete idea yet.

It would be pretty awesome if they do capture the battle spirit of the sieges of Lineage 2. That's for sure.

So you mean it is like GW2, You can make a PVP char and a PVE char?

A few questions:

http://community.ageofconan.com/wsp/conan/frontend.cgi?func=publish.show&template=content&func_id=1347&table=CONTENT

If you read good? can a guild attack a guild then? or what? and can normal players kill your own guild hall?

Keep sieges yes. I haven't read much about the other PvP objectives in the border kingdoms. It's actually one of the key aspects of AoC end game, not sure how you missed it.

Does the sieges works like in Lineage II?

I've been following both games quite closely but I admit I lean more towards WAR recently... The primary reason is is that WAR promises more casual-friendly experience. There are no instanced raids or guild requirements for meaningful endgame PvP (before the flames start... No, I'm not satisfied with the mercenary system) and the whole game seems geared more toward "log in, have fun, log out when you want" type of play.

AoC will deliver a more intense, guild-oriented, "hardcore" experience. Personally, this would be more appealing to me than WAR if I were 10 years younger (still in school, lotsa free time) or 10 years older (got a steady, boring job and am looking for a nice hobby). This is the reason why I don't play EVE for example, although I respect it immensely and am 100% sure it is totally awesome. I simply don't have the time or incentive to commit myself to such a game fully at this point in my life.

However, we still don't know how these two will turn out. WAR for example may depend too much on instanced PvP which is a huge turn-off for me. AoC on the other hand may be a lot less reliant on PvE raids and guilds. In that case I can see myself playing AoC rather than WAR. Imo, only time will tell. I will definitely wait for a few weeks after release before making my purchase.

That's exactly what i do too, wait 1 monnth, before i buy it. I like PVP more then PVE. I like higher levels 80 AOC more then WAR 50. so it's difficult for me. lol the time will come, it's waiting now.

One is clear from reading both threads posted on both forums. That even the people that try and be helpful and present features of both games don't have all their facts straight. Besides that, both games are in beta so things are bound to change (more time for changes in WAR than AoC though).

Both game fans will present their games like the best thing ever happened. The truth is that both games have elements that you already find in present MMOs, both have some stronger focus in certain aspects and both have weaknesses. Whether you can capitalise on the strengths and have fun and weather you can live with the weaknesses, is solely up to you. We can't form an opinion for you, most of us haven't formed one for ourselves.

As somebody else said, only exposure in both betas will give you a better idea of what to expect. And even that would be biased since AoC is closer to completion, thus is more "presentable". Still, no second hand opinion is worth as much as first hand exposure.

Whatever you choose, remember to have fun with it.

That's all right. fun! i can't wait until both games come out, 88 days and AOC is out! yay!
