Deth',

The DX10 for Xp is off the 'Games for Windows' site.  It may be easier to just google DX10 download instead.

Shannia,

I actually didn't think that you were.  I was just trying to clarify my intent, with that previous post.  Fearing they'd be taken out of context and/or order later, as it seems to happen often with other peoples.

No matter what you heard, the second team is only dealing with the pc coding transfer to 360 and the required code base optimization.  The only differences between the two releases are graphic quality and code optimization for the respective platforms.

The delay in the 360 release is so the pc version can iron out most issues before they let the 360 version go gold.  This is so it makes smaller patches for the 360 in the short term before game expansions.

Your right they're not going to play on the same servers at the same time but it's not because they're 2 different games.

Are you special?

Sinjin as a Maritimer you should just inherently know it.   lol

I agree about Brad McAlmightyHeavenlyFather, Shannia, and  your point was just what I tried to say in my original post.

It didn't seem that personal to me at first, until it became so.  Anyhow, he's confident in his opinion and gets respect for it but I'm also equally confident in mine and nothing excuses a direct personal attack.  You just need to respond in kind and grin back.

@ RayXor

...I think I'll listen to Funcom and not some nobody on a game forum...

The feeling is mutual, and since there still after 360 programmers, it'll be based off the pc versions work but I do agree there's big difference between re-design and re-coding.

Terrenah,  couldn't agree with you more.

The more diverse the platform release the better it is for the industry and the MMO community.

I only hope we can have our own servers based on platform for all future titles.   So that we can go back to complaining amongst our respective preference groups, instead of uselessly trying to use the divide and conquer strategy, to gain favor within the gaming industry.  That's helping no-one that actually likes games.

Avery, the expac info is recent news.  Thx

Alan, I understand and appreciate your concerns but I just don't share them.

Starting off with single player aspects to the game that moves on to a traditional multi-player MMO gameplay, which caters to solo'ers, pve'ers and pvp'ers throughout, from then on.  Yeah, it's a MMO, in every sense.

-You choose to solo the whole way to lvl cap, fine, but your missing out on a lot.

-You choose to pve, strictly, you miss out on the pvp aspects but raiding is still there and it's a serious focus, in the game.

-You choose to go all out and pvp/pvp siege it'll be there for you.  But pvp sieges aren't a matter of loggin and deciding your ready.  You'll need a guild, highend crafters, pve city, time and resources to make that happen.

You could always merc' yourself out but it'll be when others need you and on their schedule.

So, if your thinking that pvp battlekeep sieges are happening within the first 1.5-2.5months, you best be in a guild of, atleast, 50+ dedicated members.  But, even then there will be standard pvp instances, and the tower sieges, in the siege grounds.

If your worried about CB tester's opinions, just remember there's nothing saying a development team has to show off everything about a game before it's launch; or that CB testers always get to test everything out, first, before a launch.

It would be nice but all development companies rely on the Alpha testers a bit more than a casual beta tester.

Seing how, in a CB, 35-40% of the testers are really carrying 80%+ of the load, in doing what's intended for a beta tester to accomplish.  While the rest are just there for an early look at the game.

Oh! maybe that has something to do with these invisible walls, afterall.  Funnel them where there needed, not where they like to be.  ../shrug

Yeah, they'll offer mounts in a game so you can just sit there stuck in your mime box. ...lol! Right.

It's fine, I understand you want perfection, to bad that doesn't exist anywhere in life.

@ Alanon

...Specially if you need 2-3 years to even play that content because the pcs of today can't handle it =)...

Umm, my pc is over a year old and has a Vista rating of 5.0.

AoC's recommended, not it's minimum, requirements is 4.8/ min at 4.0.  Today's pc's will do fine, as long as, they're built as gaming rigs and just not spreadsheet, email fetchers.

Looking into my crystal ball ...........

I see a lot of people with off the shelf PC's complaining about performance. A fair amount of lag, some bugs and a lot of people who will love the game worlds open ended feel. I doubt if it will be as smooth a launch as LoTRO but it won't be as bad as some games launches either. I predict Funcom will overcome the initial issues over time but the game will suffer at  launch because of people with $100 USD video cards raising hell because they won't be able to get 60FPS.

However I do see it capturing a good niche and a population of 100K plus, possibly growing over the course of the first year depending on how fast Funcom addresses it's release problems. Because EQII and Vanguard are both graphics intensive I see more of a migration from those games than I do games such as WoW and LoTRO.

I see a mixed reaction to the combat. Some will love the complexity, others will call it slow and clunky.

hmmm  the crystal ball goes cloudy ........

lol! Jack'

I'll see your 100k+ and raise you another 150k in the fist 3/4's of the first year.  Yes, a nice 250k niche but I also see over 1/2 mil copies sold in that time frame.  ...Windex does wonders for the all seeing Crystal ball.

Bug Free MMO launches don't exist and they never will.

Your either a fan of the Ip, the game mechanics and/or graphic style, or not.  If you are, you'll stick out all the little issues in terms of required patching.

Otherwise, the game isn't for you and realize it never tried to be an everyones MMO.  The sys spec's and M rated content just won't allow for a multi-million person player-base.

Then, again, it doesn't have to, when compared to 97.6%(rough guess-timate) of other up and running MMO's.  .../shrug

So, will it be a success compared to WoW, nope.

Will it be a success compared to the rest of MMO land, Yep!

Yes, I do think it'll play.

Where exactly in terms of settings?  That, I'm not sure about but a quick guess would be med-high or high settings, much like myself.

If your running Vista, somewhere in these threads, I recently saw a screenshot of the game requirements vista rating from the game folder.

It said min. requirements were a 4.0 rated sys. and recommended was a 4.8 rated sys.  So, that may be a better judgement, in the end.  Seeing your likely rated at a 5.0-5.3 in vista, again, like me.

I can see the OP's point and it is a bit of a concern to a pc preference player but I can't say it's devastating.

Since the industries tripleA production teams all seem bent on creating MMO's for consoles, in the future(according to their joint statements at GDC '08).  There is a price to be paid for both platforms, atleast, in the short term(the next 3-4 years).

For the pc player more frequent instancing is likely, in my opinion, and for the consoles a longer waiting time for a release.  This would seem to hold true for AoC, as the multi-platform release was on the design table early in development.

The extended wait for the console release seems like it's one part pc release refinement and the other optimizing the code for the XB360.  This would allow a more solid and tested product(smaller initial patching sizes), overall, when it's time to finalize and master the 360 version of the game.

This being said. the pc players, in this case, gets to play the game months earlier and with the DX10 graphics.  The XB360 waits for a release that's more refined but never sees the DX10 level of eye candy.  So there's a trade off between the two and, in a round about way, it makes it fair for both pc and console.

The fact that the different platforms in AoC will not be playing on the same servers, is the best move I can think of, when faced with MMO multi-platform releases.  I'm not only refering to the never ending 'which is better' debate that would clog chat channels but the belief that one platform over the other has an unfair advantage, whether that belief holds true or not.

So, eventhough, there's a price to pay for pc players, there's also a price to pay by consolers.  Later, when newer titles try and put both platforms on the same servers, at the same time, I feel that will lead to one side or the other just leaving for another game, entirely.   ...I hope, I'm wrong about this because it won't be doing the industry any favors.

A little further still, when the game is designed for a console release first.  The pc version would suffer, in depth and game mechanics, and be hard pressed to compare to what pc players have been used to, so far.

As far as, I'm concerned multi-platform releases by themselves aren't a bad thing but how they're implemented sure could be.  I think Funcom, atleast, did the right approach with AoC but it'll be intersting to see how other companies deal with these types of releases, in the near future.

I love it when "i quit the beta" starts to replace 'I got thrown out of beta for not doing what I agreed to do in the first place', that should probably tell you something.  lol

I mean.... if everyone is 12 and talks like their 25, how are they married?

and what if we're chicks?   o.O

First, it was just a quick, off the cuff joke. ;p

Second, who said everyone is 12?  The mean average age of MMO players is 24-26 yrs old.

When you double your current age, married or not, you'll notice an even paced mental regression in many areas of your life.  The reason for this is that you've long since been set in your ways and your no longer in any hurry to grow up.  You'll reserve a high level of maturity for your work, formal social gatherings and, in part, for your family.  The rest goes right out the window, as you find, that being to serious in life is detrimental to your overall health, at a time when you can least afford it.

Last, if your a 'chick' whose married to another woman, well, that's a whole other issue.  It may prove entertaining in trying to 'straight-en' her out, as well.

Again, lol j/k...  Now, would you be dear and hand me my armor?

 lol Marmag!

I take it that his info. is based in some fact.  Facts so outdated as to be a more of source of amusement than anything else.  Other parts seem to be complete fabrications compared to official info. and vids by Funcom, released to all the major MMO sites.

My only comment to him is; 'To bad you and/or your buddies broke the NDA 'months' ago using, at or below lowend spec'ed pc's, and that you were obviously caught leaking info. and perma-banned by Funcom.  You'll be missed.' .../sarcasm off

The so called 'Carebear' keeps were never meant for pvp as they're hard earned and you'll need one of those before you get into battlekeeps.  The crafting/guild bonuses from pve keeps seem to be important aspects for later pvp sieges.

Seeing an unfair advantage in the destruction of a battlekeep in pvp combat is ridiculous, that's what they're for. ...They go up, they come down.

There's everything right upto Legendary drops in the game and I'll bet they'll hold true to their name.  But, yeah, the highend, crafted, socketed items will be sought after by all, at some point.

There's mounts in the game.../pause'n'think  The claims that your closed in, like a mime doing his skit on a street corner. at every turn, is foolish.

Again, if you did get to be CB tester for AoC, it was a wasted key, and you should've played through Tortage and then watch the game areas progressively expand.

All of this info. is easily gained by going to the AoC site and reading it's contents and by watching the official vids.

No MMO title has ever launched as a finished, bug free product.  There's no reason to expect this ever happening.  ..Deal with it.

Last, name a single established MMO review site/mag. that backs these negative claims.

They're still working out the different servers rulesets, but RP-PvP is FFA-PvP(if there's full loot it's likely to happen here).

The standard PvP will work differently than the RP-PvP's and then the normal PvE servers are 'safe' outside the pvp areas(don't expect full loot ability here).  That's how I see them setting things up, anyhow. ../shrug

I, also, want it to be pvp everywhere.

It stays true to the Ip's lore.

It, also, gives that one ability all others MMO's lack; the ability not only to report 'Gold Spammers' but gank the hell out of them before they finish the www-.gold/we ruin your games-.com in general chat.

Yes, FFA everywhere, it helps nurture the all out brutality aspects of Conan's lore and, finaly, gives me the MMO side hobby I've always dreamed of...

For the first time, it would be both fun and satisfying, to report(account ban/chore) and kill them in the starting areas of an MMO(chore that becomes worthwhile fun).

If this became a routine practice, it may transfer some of the focus of new player ganking in pvp to a more constructive area, which really becomes a server community that's helping to protect it's game.

...Hey! Spam Bot!  Check out my new spell.  ZZzaap!...

The pre-order mounts are for battlekeep sieges but there are the others(horse, camal and --Mammoth/Rhino-different stats/size than preorder ones) are for normal travel.   I'm not sure but it seems to be the info. going around atm.

I doubt that anyone will be riding anything until, or atleast close to them, leaving the Toratge area.

Edit- Well there you go lvl 40.
