Disclaimer - its pretty old leak

- yep

I think.. - self-explanatory use your own judgement.

WoW, CoH/V - understood but they aren't AoC.

Tortage - did he ever get past it?

corrupt chess-board looking textures because of the memory leak.
it just doesn't feel natureal). - always sucks but it's in beta, Sh*t happens.

I am hoping the areas can be opened up, rather it be in patches or game updates - that was their intent with Hyboria from concept on, atleast, in terms of more game content.

"IF" they can hold on to enough subscribers at launch to gather the funds needed to do such..that's where the doom statements come in. - fair assessment of anything under production but still subjective and out of date, by over 6months.  We'll have to see for ourselves.

I felt a need to do this. It's just the main points, as I see them, in that old leak.  I'm not in this closed beta and I have questions, too.  But if unofficial beta info. is older than 2weeks, the hell with it.

@ Hairy'

About a break in the Immersion, I hate it, as well.   As for the big budget devs, I hope so too but there will be Indy Corp.'s to turn to if they don't.  .../nod

Insert childhood memory......" Eenie beenie catch a meanie, Ahh boo bumble beenie, Atchie batchie boob-a-lachie, OUT goes you!"

Whoo Hoo...... I'll go....... "LEFT!"  Maybe the next time around....... let me think...... yes..... next time I'll go RIGHT!

Yes Hairy', AoC=Gaunlet(the 2d quarter eater). lol

.."Usually means..linear crumb trail"?  Since when?

It's always been a term for map boundries, plain and simple, and yep developers decide where they go, in the game.  ...It's their job.

Yep, map boundaries......you can see all kinds of stuff in the distance.  Trees, hills, mountains.....etc.  You will however never be able to get to them because of invisible walls that the devs use to channel you.  It is a cop out method used to make small zones "APPEAR" larger than they really are.

Gauntlet?   sigh.....

~Hairysun~

Hate to have to break it to you, but since there's only ever been one MMO(Vanguard+hitches) that hasn't had them and the fact that the entire tripleA gaming industry plans to, atleast, multi-platform their future titles.  It would seem that invisible walls are the first price that pc players will have to pay.

Or has anyone else noticed how there seems to be more and more anti AoC trolls crawling from under their bridges and posting here of late? I mean the closer it gets to launch I see the number of raving posts here spiral upwards.

If the beta tested didn't leak information then people would not be here questioning AOC. So you want people to waste even more money on a game just to be disappointed because its not what they thought it was or what the devs have been promoting.

Funcom devs must no whats going on in these forums and many others, so now is the time to drop the NDA and prove all these people wrong .

There is also a link to the actual AOC beta client floating about lol. Ok..you cant log in but you can read the patch notes so these people who are desperately trying to protect AOC are fighting a losing battle.

Why would they drop a the NDA while they're still in beta?

Patch notes? Name a MMO title that's never been patched.

Desperate? Lol, I'm only an endline client to the industry.  What do you have to lose over AoC's release?; Stocks?, Shares?, Your real life employment? ..or a few from your guild from another game?

...Invisible walls? People are getting upset that there may be invisible walls in a game? So upset that they're canceling preorders and utterly writing off a game they've been following for months or years?

Invisible walls have been in virtually every 3d game ever made. And all MMOs I can think of, including AC. So I suggest you all calm down until you hear that there might be something unusual about the use of invisible walls in this game as compared to others(All I've seen is blown out of proportion rumour mongering).

Untrue, not only are they stylish, polarized and UV protective; they help me see further in life, as well as, give me the ability to judge potential and merit past an initial launch date.

Agricola,

That 'press release' doesn't exist and the unofficial info. is a entirely subjective.

It's a case of waiting for OB or trial and deciding for yourself.  If your a pre-order customer, again, it's upto you.

Is it a "Worlds Colliding" issue? ..Unlikely.

@ OP

 - I doubt, they'll go as far as having huge 'Greeco Pizza' billboards in the wilds.

 - I, also, doubt the use of scenerio adds;

... You've just finished your destiny quests and it's time to meet the man himself.

(You approach)...(Conan rises from the throne to greet you)...(A poor, wretched child runs passed reaching out to the King.)

"Hey mister!?  You look like you could use a drink." (Hands off a bottle of Coke)...

  - Annoying, as it would be, having a poster add as you login might be a possibility. ../shrug

  - A better use would be a bulletin board in a trade post or tavern, where you could just double click on it and check it out. (Mmm, Guiness!)

I'm also interested in the checking out the solo content.  I want to go through all of Tortage solo if I can, atleast, for the first character.

Knocking out the Destiny quests so I can get more quest from Conan, himself, is a high-point in the Ip, too.

EDIT-  As for gold sellers I wonder if we can spend a weeknight or two, on FFA servers, ganking the hell out of them. ...They should add server prizes for this.

Sorry, nothing to add to your post but I'm interested in seeing how this thread goes and thanks for the image of the MMO community hitting the 'Panic Button', just priceless.

@ Whoz'

I don't know.  I can't find any info. on EBgames/Gamestop about the 3 day early entrance deal.

@ OP

I've no issue with anyone that says 'try before you buy' but having followed the game(the best I could) since '06, I pre-ordered the CE and I'm in guild already.  So yeah, I know my interest in the game warrants those steps.

I thought old school gamers were the ones that played pong when it originally launched.  The guys that saw pinball give rise to arcade, give rise to console.

Most mmo players today weren't even embryos when I was dropping quarters into Space Invaders, Asteroids, Pacman, Galaga, Centipede, Red Baron, and Tempest arcades.

I spent all nighters playing Misslecommand and Pitfall on Atari 2600.  On PC I was determined to beat Oregon Trail and some text based dungeon crawl I can't remember the name of, till I got banned from the computer.

 Thanks Terranah,

I remember when pong was initially refered to as T.V. Tennis/Hockey and the pinball to arcade transition.  Lol, the memories of saving my allowance up to blow on the quarter eaters.  Good times.

Edit-

Rofl, you guys and the C64 while I was stuck with Vic20 and casette Chuck Norris martial arts stick man game.  The hero white stick man kicked from his knee down and ..got'em!, the red stick man went *poof*.

Original atari breakout was lots of fun, too.

Oh, the IBM PC with the 3.5 inch green and black vga that had the keybord that would snap into place over the drives and screen.  I was playing some type of WW1 flight sim and I can't remember it's name.  God that Pc was heavy for a young kid.

But in uo you could reach max level in a month of casual play. In these other games it takes like five months of casual play. Maybe i'm slow, or maybe its the fact that after playing for five hours once a week and only gaining 2 levels, I get burned out. But i can imagine that most gamers are like me, and less like the hardcore, since they require food and water to live.

Did you ever play UO before EQ came out?  Because you definitely couldn't 7xGM a combat character in a month.  lol  Seriously.  And I'm talking about hardcore hours put in even, like 6 hours a night.  No way it could be done with just 2 to 4 hours a week.  It could take a year just to GM magery.  In fact, I remember people bragging about being a GM mage because there were so few of them around at all.

So now that we know you never played the original UO as it was in it's prime, we can safely say you know crap about game design.  You're perspective spans maybe 4 years at most, by the way you define casual play.  How do I know this?  Because even in EQ's hayday, casual play was TWENTY hours a week.  5 hours was considered pretty much not playing at all.  Hardcores spent about 7 hours online at least 5 days a week, usually 6 or 7.

Housing has nothing to do with the casual vs hardcore argument.  In UO there was no game time spent on the housing at all.  Neither was there in SWG.  Man again you know jack about games with housing.  In UO or SWG all you did was buy the deed and place the house.  That's it.  Took all of about an hour.

The real problem isn't just the lack of housing in newer MMOs, but the lack of a virtual world in newer MMOs.  MMOs used to be about creating a virtual world set in fantasy or sci-fi.  They had REAL economies where people set up shops etc not this crappy auction house where they water down being a crafter and salesman by cutting out all types of competition with the exception of price.  lol

Today's games are nothing more than mutliplayer versions of single player games.

But seriously the thing that's really starting to turn into a pet peeve for me are all these new gamers who started playing around WoW/EQ2 release who think they know jack about the MMO timeline.  You don't, and it's obvious to those who do, so stop talking like you were there!  Damn it gets me going.

Slight correction on SWG Nether' many people including myself spent days worth of game time using ../moveitem up 50 and the like to fully decorate the interior of their homes, item by item.  Whether it was part of Rp'ing or just bragging rights with your neighbours.

Although, I agree there's nothing hardcore about it.  It was just standard issue game play in the days before WoW.
