Yep I reactivated yesterday after quitting 2months ago because I was really bored to death only to find out to my horror that the latency spikes are getting worse! I never thought it was possible and yet there they are, every few seconds it shoots up and down again like some sterio equalizer.

Game is in fact STILL unplayable for many people months after launch!

I can't believe how I used to defend such an incompetent company. FC doesn't deserve any success. In fact they deserve to crash and burn, though of course I would never wish that to anyone.

Yes every game gets boring after awhile grinding the same stuff over and over again.

Yes most people are fed up with raiding the same bosses in WoW, but they are always doing it. The reason? Loot. They have something to look forward to. Even though raiding becomes boring, people are ready to farm the same boss 100 times so that they get the 1 purple piece they have wanted forever. There's no such thing in WAR to drive you to grind your life out.

The content in WAR is mainly for fun. That is nice and all, but I can't see a long lasting appeal because, as you know it gets boring and FUN all alone isn't enough.

So RvR can be fun for a few weeks... What then?...

Honeymoon is over, newness is wearing off, people are seeing the game and recognizing that it has issues and is far from perfect.

-Added content

-Pvp system (half of it)

-Less memory leaks, more freezes

Can't think of anything else of notice.

I actually don't think AoC can be regarded as a proper game. Games are made so you can have fun, and most of my experiences in hyboria were boring and frustrating to say the least!

I'm pretty much in the same boat. I actually bought AoC in it's 1rst week after the hype finally got to me. Won't happen with WAR though lol, even though it does look like it's a different sort of hype.

What are these "inadequacies" that you speak of, care to elaborate?

They must be really game-breaking if they're going to cause the game to lose a lot of subs.

The graphics are excellent considering the fact that there can be 100+ people fighting on screen at once, without a hitch.

If you want a game with excellent graphics, and shit gameplay, Age of Conan is for you.

And actually, while AoC has higher res textures, I think the artwork and equipment detail is way better in WAR.

QFT!

Nicely written review, though I don't think you mention some of the glaring issues like RvR Balance etc.

You do however sum up the all the good things in WAR, and I really, seriously hope this game flourishes into a great game!

Ya the named encounters were pretty nice , was in the 15 one at 20 and it was still a challeng , tho we were short on dps , the first boss in the lv 15 wing has an aura that that pulses damage , and he roots and switches agrro , also at like 1-5% health it enrages and Full heal and does more damage the second round .  One Named we thought was a tank and spank till about half health , then he started doing some fun stuff, will leave it to you to check out.

There are also many dungeons out in the world , the Mnt gunbad dungeon starts at lv 22ish and goes to about 30 , has 3 wings also , huge outdoor dungeon with multiple PQ's and a instanced final boss , you have to have enough INF from the Pq's to get to him i think. als othere is The shadow gade or vale , somethign i forget its on the main site , as well as Bastillion Stair and more dungeons yo uunlock when you succesfully kill the other citys king after a siege of the city , i have high hopes for the WaR dungeons .

Wow it's nice to see that your status, the cities, the realm's, plays a part in everything!

Thanks boreil that's pretty much what I wanted to know. Sure looks promising, and I might buy the game earlier than I had planned.

I get the feeling everything is connected, and it's great to see that pve dungeons (that are supposed to be an afterthought in a pvp game) are polished and work well etc.

Cool thx for the feedback. I like doing dungeons and anyone who has experienced any dungeon is welcome to share it here!

gestalt11, was it fun? was the loot worth it? was it polished enough and do u know if you need actual tactics to beat a boss or is it tank and spank?

Can someone enlighten me about dungeons in WAR? Has anyone tried any yet? are they challenging and contain hard bosses? What levels are they etc.

Thx!

couple of questions first.

1)well i want to go order...becuse iv played them for so long in the tt games..and i feal like il be betraying order if i play distruction...(will play disstruction eventually)...but i hear allot of bad about how order is outnumberd are are constantly losing...
is it really as bad as iv been hearing..or does it change from server to server.

2)how are scenarios...can i really level up on rvr only...or is more advisable to do a bit of both pve and pvp.

3)what classes are most needed for order atm... :)

I'd wait a month to see how it pans out before buying. But if looks like you already made up your mind.

1) Changes from server to server

2)You can lvl up on rvr only, but it's best to lvl in both ways to experience the game at its fullest (and lvl faster!).

3) No idea.

Seriously I think there are a loooot of issues that need fixing. Might as well focus on The Secret World!

Hi folks,

I got a few questions about this game.

a) I hear it combines instances and open world. Anarchy Online did that and it kinda worked. Is this well done  that you feel in a world or is it too small and limiting?

World is instanced (there's a player cap and it duplicates itself when that cap is reached) and zoned (loading screen between each zone and another)

b) Is there an underlying interesting lore for the quests  or is it just fetch x,y,z or kill xxx only?

Quests in the first 20lvls are great with voice overs and are interesting. After lvl20 no more voice overs, and most of the quests become boring (on-par with any pve mmo)

c) Do the classess feel unique or do they suffer from imbalance that leads to some being more desirable than others?

Some classes need love more than others, but all are playable.

d) Is there enough social elements and complexity like AO or is it aimed at 'easy mode'?

No social elements, you barely talk with players. I found it to be a grind from lvl20 onwards.

Nothing complex here. It's easier than WoW.

e) I keep hearing people are quitting due to unfinished products and bugs (it is Funcom!!!), but is there enough people to play with or will I be soloing most of the game?

I think there are players, though whatever the number you won't be noticing them because you don't need them in anything

f) Finally, if you enjoyed playing EQ, AO,  Vanguard, and LOTRO would you recommend this or is it a stay away type game?

No.

I would download a demo and try it, but they are not offering one yet...

Thanks in advance for all of you who take the time to answer any of my questions.

I'll probably come across as a troll to you but you can check my post history. I was one of the defenders of the game and hoped it would be the next big thing. Funny what Hype can do to a game.

That's a question I ask myself quite a lot. Reading first impressions on WAR I get the feeling the game is one HUGE battleground where you control different points etc.

Don't get me wrong I really want this game to flourish and be a success, however I would love to know the plans they got for long term appeal. If they're not adding lvls later, there must be some other idea or plan that can keep people playing, because I personally know that for me and others I'm sure, RvR won't keep me occupied for a couple of months (after I hit lvl cap).

This may be a stupid question (I haven't really followed WAR for years), But after getting all the renown gear you need, and conquer keeps/cities etc. what is there to do other than do it all over again for 1000times?

Reroll?

Honestly - what is there to do in ANY mmo?  I mean really when you get right down to it every single game is  a grind to max skills or level and then...

But whatever.  I just think if you aren't creative enough to make things interesting for yourself time to find a new hobby.  I think keeps would be fun, even 1000 times because you aren't fighting NPCs, you are fighting other players who change what they do and are not predictable.  I think that's why WAR is fun, not because it's NOT the same old game in a shiny new wrapper - it is.  They will also probably add some things whenever they get around to it as well.

New content and expansions. That's what keeps players playing  MMOs. Every fan looks forward to a new expansion after playing "end game" and loves to discover new lands, new cities, gear etc.

I just hope Mythic plans to give players different end game possibilities alongside RvR.
