Alts // Hami // RWZ // Recluse's Victory.

Funny, the way you worded it makes it sound like you're expecting an end game.  A friendly piece of advice, don't fall for end game hype -- the joy of a game is in the journey.  Before mmo's, once you reach the end, you just moved on to the next game and/or occasionally replayed the old one.  End game is a bs idea perpetuated by developers to be an extended timesink to collect your subscription money.  At least CoX makes replay value worthwhile for those who can enjoy it.  ( ' :

I disagree, to an extent. I don't think the only way to enjoy the game is in the journey. If that was what I found to be the only enjoyable factor, I would play console games exclusivly. And, I don't really enjoy creating alternative characters and repeating content too much either, although I can bare through it sometimes, depending on the game. Therefore, and end-game filled with epic raids, better loot, more challenging areas, character improvement, etc. are what make the game more enjoyable to me - namely, the end-game content. Unfortunately, I found the end-game in CoH was really lacking, and I found the missions too boring to continuously repeat with an alt. character. However, I did enjoy creating my character - one of the best character creation set-ups I've tried. But, unfortunatly, it's not enough to keep me playing this game. Anyway, I am hoping Champions Online will hold my interests longer.

I think a quick fix to the problem is to uninstall the program and never play the game again. Find something better. SOE has a long history of screwing over their customer base. I am shocked people even bother with them anymore.

B'ah, you didn't claim LotRO was challenging, I miss read your comment. My appologies. I do agree that LotRO has superior game play and graphics than EQ, I just found EQ to be more challenging overall.

Want quality game play with a challenge, check out a little game called Portal.    Want a quality MMO with great graphics and game play, check out LOTRO.    Want a very dated game, ran by the worst gaming company in the business, with the most bitter community, check out EQ.

Funny you mention LotRO as an adequate substitution for EQ. I, actually, found EQ to be more challenging, and not because of the over-powered monsters that needed to be combated. In my opinion, and it is only my opinion, EQ had raids that required some planning and strategy to see success. LotRO, having played it since beta, was simply surround and pound. All monsters were the same, the quests were all basically fed-ex or killing X to obtain Y. My girlfriend, who never played an MMO before, found the game very easy, capping her character to level 50 in just under a month. The raid zone, which was supposed to be set up as a 24 man raid (if memory serves correctly), could be done easily with 2 groups, provided you didn't attempt the dragon at the end (I admit, he was pretty tough). Although, to be fair, I think it did improve after they introduced the Rift. But, this is really best saved for the LotRO forum.

These are interesting stat's you have provided. Can you please site them, I am interested in checking their validity.

Anyway, I played EQ at its release. It was pretty fun, in my opinion. I wasted countless hours playing it. I returned to it a couple years back, and still enjoyed it for a while. Although this is true, I found it necessary to use 2 accounts at the same time, as the game play was extremely slow..... My brother played 2 accounts as well, which helped to cut back on the incredible waiting times required in finding and setting up groups. We, luckily, established our 4 characters to include the key classes of a tank, healer, cc, and dps. If someone playing this game doesn't have a healer stuck to their hip, or doesn't have a social network, I don't think they'll have a good time playing this game.

Thanks for the info gang! The use of combo moves will be pretty fun to experiment with. I just hope there is enough to keep the combat from growing tiresome and repetitive, or, worse yet, slow and boring.  At least the grapics look nice, and I am defenitly interested in giving this game a try. Thanks again!

So, is this game like a lot of MMO's where combat is target your enemy and start meshing your number keys, or will it be different, say like Age of Conan?

I am kinda hoping for an alternative combat mode than the "target/mesh" style, but the game does look very nice and am looking forward to giving it a whirl.

SoE wasn't supposed to have their ugly mits involved in Vangaurd either, but they took it over eventually. If this game has any ties with SoE, then, more than likely, they'll be influenced by them. I'm out for that reason alone.

Sheesh, why are people quoting Wikipedia when making an argument... Anyone can easily go in it and change the damn definitions and articles at ease. If you want to quote, use something more credible.

And, who cares if GW is MMORPG? Everyone knows the game by now. I think it's all about personal preferance in regards of game play. GW is basically like diablo, but intead of meeting other players on a chat room, you meet them in a city. Then you join the group and launch the adventure. If you prefer games where you meet people anywhere within the games world, then go else where - it's really up to what you prefer.

I had quit EQ as well after years of playing it and found when I had returned, it was a lot easier to get through the levels, especially to get up to level 60.  The post 60 levels were a little more challenging, but over all I still found it a lot easier.  They basically ended the 'travel and exploration' content of the game by adding the Plane of Knowledge, guild portals, and deleting the boats - I am not saying this is good or bad, I used to hate waiting around for the damn boat to come pick me up.  And, corpse runs are a thing of the past, making the risk factor in doing high level dungeons and planes non-existant.

Also, SOE has tampered a lot with the exp gains and loses.  At one time, monster missions dished out so much exp that you could max your character in a couple days of game play.  But, I believe they changed that again, but not sure.

Anyway, I found the game to be considerably easier than what it once was, in my opinion.  Whether that is for better or worse, that's for you to decide.

I just tried this game today and was pretty impressed.  Sure, it seems a bit childish and has its downsides, as many games do, but you cant argue - the price is definatly right!  I say, give it a shot, all that is spent is your time - and unless you're a dr or lawyer, I am sure you're time isn't worth a whole lot....  otherwise, why are you playing mmo's in the first place? hahahahaha!  J/K

Enjoy the game!

I know you probably get a lot of these, but I have some great ideas for STO that I think everyone could benefit from and would stay true to the Star Trek name. Actually I'm not sure who to email this to so if your the wrong person please give it to the right guy, thanks.

The game play cant just be graduate Starfleet Academy and get a ship and roam the galaxie, no, I think the best kind of game play would have to be one of teamwork.

I think that everyone has to graduate Starfleet Academy (I suck a spelling) in there class that they want like engineering or Security or whatever, and then get assigned to a ship. I think that only the Beta testers or the hardcore gamers should get a ship, like the first 100 people get a ship if they pass one of the hardest tests of being Capitan. Once you pass the Capitan test I think then, and only then, you should get a ship, and not every captain should get a ship either, many captains should have to wait, or be on a ship longer or something. Maby even pass all the tests, for being Engineer, Security, Medical, etc. They should have to do this because they need to know how to do it all in case someone is injured or something. But newhoo, once you graduate starfleet you should be assigned to a ship at the lowest class you can be in, with your class, then you should move up the ranks on that ship until you can go back to starfleet and pass more tests to eventually be captain.

The reason for all this is so that we don't have real idiots like on every game just going around and deliberately crashing their ship into others or destroying things that do not need to be, or if it is possible to start a war, they would most defenitaly do that.

This game should be based on teamwork and responsibility, everyone on the ship should have something to do in every situation. For example, in combat, the pilot of the ship should obey the captain when he tells him to turn, but should also make his own decisions with his judgment if he can see more. The gunner should fire, the science officer should scan the ship, etc. The reason for this is so that everyone feels needed, so the captain doesnt run the ship by himself and make everyone else feel useless. I think this would be best for to keep Star Trek the way it should be, and be true to the Star Trek name.

I completely agree.  This would make the player choose particular career paths and help make the game become more submersive for the players.  Also, it would maintain the overall concepts and ideas that many have come to associate with the Star Trek universe.  SWG just plain and simply turned into Ever Quest in space.  If STO can keep true to the essence of Star Trek, and  if the developers listen to what the fan base want and expect from a Star Trek MMO, it should be an amazing game.

I just tried EQ2 about 2 days ago.  I was actually quite impressed.  I loved the character creation engine and find the graphics to be very good.  I played EQ for a very long time, but never bothered to try EQ2, as I found sony butchered the first one - I figured that the 2nd would be total garbage, but I found it not to be too bad.  I enjoyed it for the short time I played it.  I dunno if I will ever purchase the game or not (I tried it on my brothers computer) and am not sure whether or not it will become as repetitve as EQ became, but for the short time I did play it I found it enjoyable.

Last time I played Guild Wars was when it first was released.  The game was pretty fun overall, however it seemed limited in what I can do and where I can go (ie. my character couldn't swim, and there were several invisible 'zone walls' restricting where I could walk).  Also, there weren't any open zones where I can meet other players (it was mostly instanced), the exception being the town that my character started in.  Now that the game has been out with expansions and all, has any of this changed?  I remember the game was a lot of fun to play, I just didn't like the limitations on the game, and was wondering of any of this had changed.  Was wondering if the game was worth a second look (I didn't buy it, used a free download trial they were running upon the games release).

Thanx for your info.

I must admit - I wasn't expecting a lot from Flyff as it is free to download and play, but it is actually a fun game!  Thanks for the recommendation.
