Lets keep it simple.

PvE consist in killing lifeless, just standing there, never moving, no AI, NPCs.

It's supposed to keep you busy when you:                                                                                                                                       a) don't feel like pvping;                                                                                                                                               b) there are not enough people online to PvP properly;

PvE seems like an aftertought in this game, and just has the basics mechanics intended to help players fill their experience bar. It's worth 3/10.

PvP, it's always great to play against other players, and scenarios are fun enough. Group balance is there, and it's nice to get away from the "2-3 shot joo" from WoW.

I didn't get past lvl 15 so far, but open/world pvp doesn't happen much; it's probably due to the fact that the PvE part is weak, that open PvP is taking place in the PvE environement, so players prefer to play scenario rather than dealing with the crap PvE.

I guess open PvP will be more present at high lvl.

Overall, this game is fun when you pvp, and boring when you're not

Tthe main problem i see with WAR is that it's totally dependant on the number of people online ready to PvP.

It's hard to admit, but it seems pure PvP in a mmo is not worth a good FPS.

Given that i started rvring and pvping at rank one, in under 20 secodns id say your experiance baffles me. aside from that in PVE there are NPC's running around...fighting...shooting cannons...and yet they are lifeless? Sorry having played the game I cant agree with anything your saying regarding the pvp or pve aspect of this game.

bah i still have a month of my sub left...il see how it goes :(

/agree

Thats one of the major reasons I left WoW, it was alot of fun before expansion, then TBC was released...the old world became obsolete and I had to start forcing myself to play to try and have fun, but was actually feeling more like work because of the giant time sinkl

 3) pre TBC there was no such thing as 40 man raids between barrens and Ashenvale, those came later when the end game was Large Raids in MC or on capital

4) People never pvped for fun in WoW, it was always about griefing, at least from my experiances with the guilds and the servers i was on before expansion at early launch.

This is not true, sorry. I played late beta until January '05. I never leveled a character over 60. I have never taken part in the lvl 70 city raids. We had massive raid battles going from darkshore to ashen to barrens when I was leveling my first character there the week after launch.

WoW was released on november 23 2004 ( the expansion its coming right on the 4 year mark ) , i can really see you playing on a very very late beta lol...

Uh, I'm not sure what you're getting at here?

Kind of hard Beta testing a game that came out 2 months before uh ?

Get it now ?

QFT,

Back to the OP, WOW has no RVR and never did, its pvp is downright useless if you want to compare present day WoW with present less then 1 week release of Warhammer.  The sad truth is that WAR has a better pvp system from lvl 1 then WoW did from 1-70 or even end game at 70.

Im not saying wow is a bad game here people, just that its pvp is a waste of time and always has been. If you say otherwise, hey thats great. if you enjoy logging on at 70 just to pvp grind dailies for an hour and get 2 shot by a geared mage or kited by a geared SL/SL lock be my guest.

Sorry, but the sheer amount of 10's being handed out makes this clearly a fanboi post. 9 for graphics? The graphics are on par with WoW(possibly even worse), and your giving the community an 8 based on what it could be?

Please. 10 should be reserved for the ABSOLUTE best, you are handing them out like candy on halloween

And this is what makes you clearly a troll ...

Whether you think they are better than WoW or not is your opinion, but I think everyone can agree they aren't a 9. I would put AoC around a 9 for graphics. I would give WAR maybe a 7 for graphics.

But of course, I'm a troll because my opinion on one matter differs from yours, but the OP is just in rating WAR the best MMO eva!

WAR graphics are on par and in some places better then WoW's graphics. That is my opinion. graphics for Warhammer id say 7 as well, and WoW's graphics would have to be a 5. This is comparing other games ive played like The Witcher and Crysis ofcourse. those were 9-10 graphics. Anyway..The gameplay is what truely makes the majority pay the 15 dollars a month, the graphics can be the best, but there is no way im gonna pay money and not get good gameplay *COUGH* AOC *COUGH*

1) Part of the selling point of the game was that you could get into the RvR immediatly without having to spend too much time PvEing

2) It is perfectly fair to compare WAR to WoW in its current form. Most people playing other games will be doing this when they decide if they are going to switch games. "Is this game better than the one I'm playing now?"

3&7)He was talking about world PvP in pre-BG days. When people PvPed for fun with no rewards.

4-5)No where in his post did he mention PvE dungeons.

6)WAR community is nearly non-existent,  and where it does exist, most of it can be just as childish as WoW's. Sometimes worse, since many are from WoW and think they are now hardcore players.

1)I didnt say it wasnt fair to compare the two, (just not at the current because one game is just released, and one has 4 years and expansions on it) if anything War is already doing better fresh at launch then wow is doing now after an expansion.

2) he wanted to know where WAR RVR was, I want to know where is WoW's since he is comparing the two.

5) i mentioned pve dungeons as an example to bridge the risk/rewards.

Or maybe you never do dungeons or group quests? Then you are not playing WOW really. And you shouldn't talk about a game of which you haven't experienced the most important part.

Yeah its very strange...especially when in WoW in order to do heroic dungeons and raids nowadays you are required to have better gear then what the acctual instance drops. Funny, maybe you shouldnt talk about a game which you obviously havent experianced at 70. And if you have, let me know your server. My server requires Black Temple gear just to raid karazan for fast badge runs now.

Yes im a huge WoW... and proud to be but I have decided to give WAR a try.

Please dont assume I am a hater without reading what I have said and what many others have said also.

I played WAR in CB but was not too interested in it, I played 2 different Battlegrounds and meet a total of 1 enemy in the world during that time.  In short i was very dissapointed in the RvR considering its supposed to be everywhere.  Anyway come retail I decide to buy it, thought in retail it will be War everywhere.

First toon I rolled during the SE head start, got a squib herder to lvl 7, was queued for the battleground at all times and it never came and i never saw an enemy player.

Swapped servers and rolled a Shadow warrior,  I like the class and will keep playing this class I think.. currently level 9 and again be queued for a battleground for several hours at a time and still no battleground and still not seen an enemy player.

Now I hate to do this but when I started WoW just after its launch when I hit lvl 15 and hit ashenvale I was in man 40 raid groups fighting the horde for hours between ashenvale and the barrens.  this was a time when there were no battlegorunds and no rewards at all for PvP.

Where is this in WAR? cus I sure as hell aint found it.  I can go to battlemaster in WoW right now and see a dozen or so battlegrounds running in each queue and get into a battle within a few minutes.  This is not the case in WAR.. where is the RvR?

So again where is the RvR? the game does not live up to the tag "war is everywhere".

While I am here where is the chat? there is no chat in this game, where is the "enemies sighted at location X" we had all that in WoW at launch and players would rush to the location.

Ill keep playing dispite the fact the game does not likke my rig and keep stuttering with poor animation and see if this get interesting in the next few levels.

But I repeat.. where is the RvR?

Okay, given that you wanted me to be fair before i posted I read your entire post.

*please note the following post is not  a hater post...completely*

1) your basing this information solely on Closed Beta and (less then 1 week of retail playtime).

2) your comparing WOW (a game that has been out for over 4 years) to a game that has been out for 24 hours to the mass public.

3) You are complaining there is no RVR in Warhammer, yet there is RVR in WOW. First of all to this point. WoW does not have RVR anywhere. I have played WoW since beta and have several 70's I am on a pvp server and have played on Bleeding Hollow and Cho'gall. Every few months if your lucky you will see a Horde or an Alliance raid a enemy capital. IF YOUR LUCKY. Most of the time people are busy grinding BG.  And by grinding I mean spending time bored (at least from who I know including myself) killing look alikes with no reward except for better gear that is only good for PVP.

4) most groups/guilds in WoW now require you to own higher tier gear then is required and that drops in the raid dungeon you are trying to go to (for fast Badge runs)

5) 40 man raids are a thing of the past, since TBC (Burning Crusade) has come out, most players have become lazy and usually only travel with guilds/friends and newbies comming into the game 60% of the time wont get help.

6) WoW community is horrible and consists of a majority of childeren that are sick from school

7)Back to the original point for RVR...if i attack South Shore on my Rogue in Hillsbrad Foothills, the guards and npc's respawn and I cannot capture the town or feel that my pvp assault has done anything but waste my time.  In fact WoW PVP is absolutely useless...you kill someone your level and get what...100 honor? hell lets just say you get 800 (which is not the case) you need at least 10,000 or so for the lowest items available. And those items will not get you a raid spot.

So you say where is Warhammer RVR? I say at level 1 when i log in, i can que up or go do open rvr in under 20 seconds..enjoy every second of it, get rewards in under 15 minutes..and quest at the same time. I ask you where is the WoW RVR or PVP please...let me know where the hell it is..because ive been in WOW for over 4 years ( and i do enjoy the pve side of it) quite a bit.  Lets face it, WoW PVP is a joke, Warhammer did it right (at least for now), We will see how the end game pans out.

"6) WoW community is horrible and consists of a majority of childeren that are sick from school"

Where did you get that information from?  I'm not a WoW fan but seriously post something that is true or keep it to yourself.  There is not a poll in the world that can say that is true.

That was my opinion after 4 years of playing, 90% of the people i have grouped with and played with were immature. This is also my opinion. and last I checked polls are also based off opinions, who cares what they say is true? Since when did you take a poll and assume that the results of that poll were 100% accurate?

Thanks for the post OP, it was a great read. I find myself in the same category as you. Warhammer is alot of fun right from level 1, not even when i played AOC 1-20 was it this fun.  The game from the begining allows you to choose how to level, either via quest, scenerio or open rvr. If you dont like the game, thats fine. But honestly graphics are only one of the many things a good MMO needs, and even then it doesnt NEED good graphics. I know people who still play text based MMO's and they have a blast in there little word wars.

Does anyone know how the Open RVR works? Are we able to attack enemy outposts and capture them in open RVR or is it like WoW where you can attack the normal towns , but the guards keep respawning after you just kill them?

I have read some of the other posts, and have caught a sight at the very high user rating. But my title is for a more open discussion as I want to see what innovations and problems are poping up. Even just experiances in general are great to read.  Sometimes players post different replies depending on the tittle of the thread or the content of it.

It is safe to say that the mmorpg genre re-launched completely in 2004. The simple fact of the matter is that Sandbox games just..aren't very new player friendly. With so many new players joining the genre, it is much better to have games like WoW and WAR to introduce them into the genre than a game like SWG Pre CU which scares off a lot of people with its complexity and lack of accessibility.  I think that is one of the most important reasons Everquest outperformed Ultima Online despite the fact that UO was build on an already exisiting IP. Everquest was simply much more accessible and user friendly

I think that, in a number of years, when the people who are currently new to the genre have got used to the genre, we will see more developers taking a more complex approach to MMORPG's to push the genre forward.

Right now, the MMO genre is back in its baby steps again because so many new people joined the genre over the past 4 years.

I completely agree with this post. Not only does it make logical sense, I also feel this will be the history of the MMO Genre.

No offense to the above posters, but I did not make this thread for childish posts. I want actual information regarding the game and experiances. if you cannot be mature enough to post Id prefer you didnt. With that in mind if you continue to flame this thread I will report you...in the words of wowheads (nuff said).

*Agreed*

Just get a game that interests you, play it, have fun.  Since when does the MMO world suffer from *highschool socialism*...oh wail...since WoW was released kids got access to online games.  There goes the community.

Hello Everyone,

I am thinking of purchasing Warhammer, in fact im more then thinking I may buy it out right after I leave from work tonight.

I was hoping that if any of you have played the game (launch not beta) to please post your experiances and let me know what you think, or thought of the game.
