Aoc is not a sand box game, please stop posting that it isnt, no one cares, and for the most part we already know.  if I want sandbox ill go play eve, which IMHO sucks the most out of any mmo i have ever played.  If only we can play EQ with the kunark expansion and thats it. .....the good ol days.

The more players will try it the better I think, so everyone can get his/her opinion.

There is just no game underneath it all, but people have to find that out themselves.

For some it will take a week for others 2 months.

The only thing that interest me is that not too many Conan clones will ever see the day of light.

Because "realistic graphics" that hamper about anything MMORPG's stood for is a loss of time in game development.

The fact that most commercial reviews don't mention this is proof of how superficial games are reviewed these days.

And having a review accompanied with zillions of game banners on their website doesn't help either.

So let me get this straight, because you dont think that it deserves a 9/10 then the websites that are posting it are full of fudge?  Are you even kidding me?  Do you read what you post before you post it?  Or are you just another individual who posts useless information in a selfish manor because someone doesnt agree with you? I sir, do not agree with your opinion.

"edit" (i had to "correct" certain things given that this poster reduced my int.)

Yeah, I have tried EQ2 in the island and I thought it was ok.  I was not a big fan of the way they went with the combat and or the playstyle. But in all honesty I never gave it a fair chance either, cause I usually dont invest time in the trials, because 14 days to play an MMO = useless.  Now if they gave me a month free I can see that being more usefull imo anyway. My highest character ever was a 60 shaman that I had deleted by accident way back when Kunark was released lol so my next highest was a 52-54 iksae monk LOL.  I think I am going to start needed a PL lol because soloing as anything unless your completely geared in that game is not happening.  Acctually thats one of the things I loved about eq, it was very very hard to find someone that had the exact same gear as you because of the rare spawns and that only one person could camp the mob at a time and some of the timers were like 8 hours.  Anyway, I think ill take a stab at EQ 1 and see how that works, thanks for the input.

AOC is what it is, personally I like the game, but others may not.  Sure it has problems we all know it would.  It comes down to a pretty simple solution.  Either pay them and play the game, stop paying them and just download and keep up with patches and play something else in the meantime.  Or you can just quit it uninstall and say well 50 bucks was the most expensive beta I have ever played.  Eitherway you guys need to stop bashing the game and make one of those choices.  Because seriously?  This bashing has been going on for almost a month now straight and its pointless.

Considering there is nothing anywhere else, Amazon will probably have to update the date. I am pretty sure that it is not going to be released in June.  MMORPG usually has the dates for release when the company sends the date.  You might want to also consider going to a magazine online like IGN and see if they have a release date for it.

Hey Everyone,

I have played EQ since launch and it holds the place as my favorite MMO of all time.  For those of you who have played EQ2 and EQ can you guys tell me which one is better?  I mean I have the 60 days so I might as well play both but just curious because if 1 is better then the other I can better invest my time.  Pros and Cons please?

I move my cursor over to the AoC icon, about to click, but the memories of disappointment linger, so I end up wasting time srufing the web or playing some fps.  So I have come to a verdict, I have already froze my account and decided to maybe come back to AoC later, when things settle down.  I hope funcom can seriously make some improvements and listen to the players' concerns.

Im not advocating this to anybody, this is what I am going to do.

To AoC,

Hope to see you soon (maybe)

I am giving AOC a break right now as well, the game is alot of fun, but I will wait untill the majority of the content is patched.  I am however going to hop on over to EQ and re-learn how to play the game, since they have announced 2 months free access to EQ and EQ2 trial and normal accounts.  Pretty sweet deal.

Ive got to say, EQ was my first and most favorite MMO I have ever played.  And that is saying alot since I joined it at Launch.  The graphics were a little different back then lol but the gameplay was awesome, i mean yeah it was a grind fest, but the spells and the community made it worth while.  I am starting up my account again, and either making a new char or continuing a old one I had before I quit.  I am going to give AOC some time to simmer before I jump back in.  I am on the Fennin Ro server, if anyone has a guild thats recruiting let me know!

You think 10 mannning Arthas is hardcore? Or that AOC is pretty = Good. You don't know squat. And it's pitiful. You are pulling all gaming down with you and I can't even call myself a gamer around you people. Causals. GTFO of my games.

I apologize on the behalf of everyone who is not a god damn nerd and have fulfilling lives.

Wow are you slow or what? You have an account too. The difference is I'm not trying to have a competition among the other forum members about the last time I saw the light of day.

You -

Some people drink and go to parties, I liked to play my MMO's with my friends.  Some of the rare spawns in eq requried very very long camping.  And when I had the weekend from school and work me and my friends after we played football and stuff all day would get on eq and have fun.  I still had a girl friend (wife now) and still go out with other friends.  What is the difference? Either your outside driking or doing other stuff at night or during the day, whenever or your at home playing your hobby.  People like to watch tv for hours some, if they are marathons even watch them 3 days straight.  Who are you to judge others on their life style?  When you clearly contradict yourself about being a nerd, discussing nerdly things according to your termonology.

Well see, I used to be a Hardcore gamer.  Got married and you know how that goes lol but I still play my mmo's as much as I can.  However Jzu does have a point, alot of the casual gamers are starting to slowly bring down the great MMO concept we once had with the old ones like Ultima and EQ.  I am not saying Casuals need to leave, but there is a big difference between a vet mmo player and a bunch of newbies comming in thinking they know everything about MMO's.  You can quote me on this, ALL MMO"S are fun, it just depends who is playing them and the amount of effort it takes.  You guys think raiding SQ 40 is hard?  or perhaps Illidan?  Go back to the games that if you died you lost a level, or experiance and had to use the previous levels spells.  Or when 1 pull could aggro your entire group because some idiot didnt know what he was doing and it wiped everyone.  I say this, new comers need to learn a little more before flaming the mmo genre or the companies in general.  and the veterans need to give them some space and not judge them specifically on WoW all the time.  They have alot of learning to do xD

Man i really wish i could flame you, i can't even say "idiot" without getting banned so i won't call you that.

But man, i've played mmorpgs, probably more then you have.

The difference?

I don't let devs bend me over and accept their failures as being "its okay!  It'll be better."  Guess what?  The plague went away, but that didn't make that suck any less.

Ok, the one thing I cannot stand is some ignorant gamer using the "But man, I've played mmorpgs, probably more then you have" line.  Are you KIDDING ME?  people out there need to stop making these stupid and rediculous assumptions.  So you think because you put in 10 hour days you have more experiance then everyone else LOL?  I have played more then 24 hours straight on Old eq, and I GURANTEE YOU there are people that have done it longer.

Dear MMO Gamers,

I have played many past MMOs (L, L2, SOTNW, GW, WOW, DAOC, CoH, LOTRO, etc..) and I am a veteran of WOW, L2, and GW.  With the annoucement of AoC quite sometime ago, I was excited to try yet another MMO, because honestly I am very pickey and had many issues with past MMOs.  I thought, hmmm, maybe AoC will be the one that hits the sweet spot.  After playing since release, I have decided to call it quits because of certain issues that annoy me (THIS IS MY OPINION).

I don't have any issues with the amount of resources this game demands from your computer. I have issues with the game itself, meaning its gameplay, community, lore etc.

1)Loading screens truly bother the hell out of me.  Even though these loading screens are sometimes 1-3 seconds long, it interrupts the fluidity of the gameplay.  Quests that require you to talk to "A" then "B" then kill "C" then talk to "D" gets hell annoying with the numerous loading screens.  I believe true mmos don't include these loading screens unless it an instanced area not part of the world or the area is bound to me.

2)AoC has a feat tree, which is something very similar to the talent tree of WoW.  The thing that frustrates me is that many of these feats are bugged and do not work or scale properly with increases in levels.  Being able to heal for xx amount at level 20 is great, but when ur healing for essentially the same amount 20-30 levels later it is very annoying. This also affects not only healing but other damage feats as well.

3) Transportation is very bad in this game.  Horses, which are very expensive, are completely not worth getting because they are not that fast compared to a sprinting player.  Players also deliberatly ask to be killed so that they resurrect at the entrance of the "instanced" zone.  Rhinos and Mammoths are practically just for show and sieges, which currently are absent for obvious reasons.

4) The lack of explanation for what skills and attributes actually do.  I would greatly appreciate it if Funcom could clarify what exactly and by how much certain atts. like magic rating, def rating, and etc. do to the character.

5) The game is very buggy( I understand it was just released but this gets annoying).  I have been stuck in loading screens many times that require me to Ctr Alt Del and end process to get out.  In instances, some mobs are glitched and evade all your attacks and just walk around, sometimes this mob being an important aspect of a quest.  I would also like to mention how you can swim up and down waterfalls.

A summation of all these annoyances and some that I have not discussed  have somehow enervated my stone cold MMO character. None of these aspects are devastatingly destructive toward the game. But these tiny tiny little things constantly interrupt my gameplay.  On an ending note I would just like to point out other things that bother me in a list format:

1. gear( level 80s dont look special at all), they could make gear more interesting instead of a sheet of leather.

2. no outstanding rewards or punishments in PVP

3. nothing to show-off about (gear, mount, title)

4.PVP ( combos require you to stand still, therefore battles have pratically become two barbs running around in circles spamming white damage).

P.S. THIS IS MY OPINION AND I DISCUSS THE REASONS I AM QUITTING AOC.  I HOPE SOME NEW MMO WINS MY HEART. god im bored, but I just cant stand AoC.

I can see you have many issues with the game, like you said thats your opinion, my opinion about some of your points I wanted to touch on. I don't know what game or games you are currently playing, so my points ar merely a comparison to WOW, L2, and EQ2 and most of the other mmo's that have been out for awhile now. Not all of this is in the order you gave, but you will understand when I talk about the different points.

1. Loading zone cuts into fluidity of the game. WoW is no different than loading zones when you have to fly on a gryphon for 15 - 20 minutes. EQ2 has load screens and it is still a top rated mmo. I will take a 30 second load <----how long I wait) over a 15 -20 minute gryphon ride anyday.

2. If you say you are a hardcore mmo player then you would know that going from A to B to C to D etc..is the same thing as a chain quest.

3. The transportation in this game if you ordered early was FREE, but lets say you didn't. Buying a mount in this game is way way way cheaper than trying to buy a mount in WOW (800g-just for training, doesnt include mount, 5000g just for epic training, yes you get a free mount if you knock out the faction quest) <---now thats just rediculous!! I don't know of many other mmo's that have mounts that fight at all, so that didn't make any sense to me.

4. The game has bugs, Yes I can agree with that but how many mmo's can you name that aren't buggy at release. WOW, L2, and EQ2 were all nightmares at release. The game just came out about 3 weeks ago, all the bugs will get fixed if people just relax. Any true mmo player would understand that. I am not saying you aren't a true mmo player, you might be. From all the games you listed above you should have a great understanding of what to expect from a new release and launch day!!

As you have said above that your comments are your opinion but sometimes you have to take a step back and ask yourself "Is this the 1st game you ever had issues with" I would hope you would agree that most all past released games have had issues.

If this game had been out a year or two then I would def agree with you but it hasn't, 3 weeks is hardly enough time to pass opinions about flaws without allowing the developer to address the problems and fix them.

When you are on the game playing it you rarely notice the time going by.  There are alot of things that can be fixed but if you just play it to enjoy it then its a very fun game.  Grouping is fun, some of the quests can be great.  One thing I like is that I can get a ton of quests and most of the objectives will be in the same area (zone).  I also like the fact that the game shows me where to go for my quest objectives...i dont have to go to some online website or try to find the stupid things through annoying quest directions.  I mean I like exploring the world and all that jazz, but when I just want to get on and do quests...I dont want to spend 2 hours going in the wrong direction. So kudos to them adding that in. I like that the loot drops are plentiful, and even when your in a group your bags tend to fill up real fast (which could become annoying if your in a deep dungeon).  The combat system is alot of fun, makes for interesting pvp encounters.  The armor syles and weapons  hold true to the lore which is also pretty cool.  There are other things as well, but I think the one thing I have enjoyed the most, is the 1-20 mini tutorial section.  I think all future MMO's should give you an option of leveling in a instanced 1-20 training area.  I dont know how many times Ive played other MMO's where the content is focing you to group for certain quests 1-20 or all the quest npc's are camped and you have to sit there and wait your turn.

2046MB RAM

NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400 256.0 MB

2Ghz Dual core

If you have some experience with these types of graphic cards/systems and have tried it out. I dont mind playing with crappy graphics. I find I care more about who I play with and how good the game combat is.

Thanks.

I suggest you get a Desktop for this game.  The stats you posted should be able to run the game on min settings with some graphical lag.  8800 seems to be what everyone says to get, my Radeon 1900x runs the game like silk except when in cities where i get 10-30 fps depending on the section.

That would be a cool idea actually, to have certain skills cost sta and mana, I know some MMO's have those type of skill sets.  My barbarian is at 29 and he does alot of damage, and has like 1,200 or so stamina.  Problem is alot of his skills cost 90-200 sta to use, well lets say you use every skill once, BOOM zero stamina and it doesnt regen fast enough to use the skills again in combat unless you pop a pot.

Hello Everyone,

I am starting a thread specifically for things that the players want fixed in Age of Conan. I would like to know of all the bugs that everyone is comming accross, the rating on how important they are to be fixed, and when they think it will be fixed.  Also anything extra you all have to say is always welcome.

*Please keep your posts clean, this thread is meant for informational purposes only and for discussion*

Basically everything but the combat seems like an afterthought with very little time spent on it, including the tradezone guild city stuff which is all instanced copies of each other on set locked positions with the same layout for everyone (my only beef with instancing is this)

It comes down to this, is the game good?  Sure it is, does it need alot of fixes, sure it does. Are we going to get this within the first month running perfectly, we sure won't.  Every MMO dev team has people working on different things, so the dancing patch is a nice addition.  But it will take 1-2 months before the game starts to stabalize.  One thing I want to be updated is the classes to be a little more well balanced in pve combat 30+
