Many dungeons in UO were mostly empty in the very beginning or were full of newbs that were dead.
Then create your main character and you have funding.
That is what I will do.
1 Character per server per account. You would need 2 accounts to do that. |

Ive never heard of a beta with that type of NDA either. This seems to be a recent thing thats just popped up on the Darkfall boards as a way to perhaps soothe the burn. Wow, how many betas have you guys been in? I've been in 4 major betas, and all of them have been kept under NDA until open beta. Vanguard, LotRO, and Dark Age of Camelot.
Ive been in 5, and none of them have stipulated that you cannot admit you are in the beta, or show anyone your email invite.
it all depends on the game, the publisher, and the stage of beta.
Like I said, they're most likely still in the tech part of beta, fixing hardware errors and core issues, I'm sure a few people have spilled their guts on private forums in hidden sections. We also have no idea what features are turned on/off right now also. For all we know only one is online at a time for a few hours, then another is turned on, then one is turned off and 2 more ect. I don't think open beta will be over before December or even have started.
I have a feeling late November or early December will be when they test a lot of the skill/spell mechanics and that will be when info is leaked. There is most likely I'd say between 100-150 people who have gotten that email, all who most likely live in greece or close to +1 gmt(think that is what greece is). Also the fact I'm sure the devs handed out a few promised beta keys to people that also filled in those slots. They don't need a lot of people to test the shit that Tasos was talking about. As time passes, people will be let in based on their hardware until they're satisified. Then skills/spells/all the fun stuff will need tons of data collected on, that's when a lot of us will get our invites and tbh, we'll have missed all the boring stuff and get to play the fun part.
I think it is still possible to pull off '08 with a digital release for US players. It is going to be very close though imo.
(above is pure speculation) |

Tasos strings us along that is for sure, but it is his job. I can't imagine how hard it is for someone to hype a game without talking about anything in great detail. What made me thinks.
Maybe the reason NDA is so harsh and info is so rare is the fact there is no american publisher yet? I don't know the legal shit behind it, but it might have something to do with it.
Excuses I know, I wish we knew more also, I'm excited for this game obviously. |

I think they've feared to tell us anything because they don't want to make any promises, although at this stage that excuse is pretty much null. It's all speculation, I just think if they where going to screw us over and try to take our money with a shitty product like funcom did, they'd of already done it. |

You say that like when they said back in september they invited people and the recent nov 10th invites have added a total of 1000+ testers...
Get a grip on reality, I would be surprised if they've let in over 150 people, let alone 100. This isn't open beta, they're still testing and fixing things lol. |

Well if you've been around for more then a few months you'd know we got shafted last year, so what, they announced they've invited more people... they never did that before.
And it wouldn't be the first company to push the launch date back a few times.
I think we passed the "few" pushbacks some years back
A lot of games have a lot of push backs, better pushed back then released total trash. |

When you're under the eye of so many people who are just finding something to tear you apart, you take your time when you write a post. Tasos said they have started to invite people to beta, who knows maybe it was more buggy then originally intended. If so they're obviously fixing the game up for us... if it takes until jan, feb, march, whatever for the game to not suck complete ass... then I don't care.
Yes we're in the dark, where we ever in the light though? nope.

if invited in the phase where QA is working along side the current testers I'd do it, but honestly I want to get a taste for the game and demo it before I buy it after all these years. |

its sucks because it does sit in the back of our minds that there might not even be a beta like last year.
I think the reason info isn't being leaked is people are having to much fun to risk losing their account. I'm sure the people who know people are keeping quiet because they don't want their inside informer. |

The grind will be huge untill 4 months before their next expansion and then the scrubby noob that leveld to 80 and quit right after can get that Teir Over 9000 gear faster than you did.
Yeah but to your average WoW player WOTLK is huge, it brings lore + new content.
I don't get why people hate Blizzard so much, yeah WoW is a total carebear PvE game with PvP thrown into the mix that any idiot can play... but blizzard works their asses off to make sure the game stays exploit free, they ban hackers and punish cheaters, they try to deal with gold farming(hard), and still adds in new shit... If Blizzard made their next MMO have FFA pvp with looting you know you'd be excited, because you know the game would most likely kick some ass and be huge because blizzard-activision is stamped on it.
all that said, i think wow is boring and i don't play it, i just don't like to see people bash a good game just because it's not their play style.
that is why we have darkfall, so we can own it up |

people who are worried about what the nay sayers are spewing are wasting their own time. We know there is a market, we know people are willing to try it and learn the game style, it's fact. Just nothing these days is modern enough to get people attention.
I never played UO before trammel or whatever, i played it on a free shard though and it took time to learn, I lost a lot of reagents and items but I learned and improved. I eventually got good enough to pvp with my 2 buddies who are good at the game and we kicked some ass, it's fun but I've been told what I play isn't a fractiuon of what the game was.
I am so excited to finally play Darkfall though it's unreal, I've been watching this game since pre-cu SWG, it's been so many years, so like i said... fuck the nay sayers, we're finally getting our game :P |
