How can they give it a 8.4 and say it's unfinished at the same time? Unfinished = max of 5 in my book, then throw in all the technical difficulties, it's a solid 2.5 at best. |

I got to level 40 fairly quickly, 10 days after release, then I quit. You only gave it 10 days? I guess you've not played too many MMOs, unfortunatally most of them are released with a bunch of bugs, missing content, etc etc etc. AoC is no different. My reason was PvP and an underlying flaw with how it is set up. Not bothered about 'ganking', I am bothered though by the lack of direction PvP is going or rather the direction it could be going. There are no factions and race makes no difference either. So it seems that it is all about guilds vs guilds. When you compete it will all be in a siege again in an instance. Correct, AoC is about guild/seige warfare. If you'd done minimal research about the game before you bought it you'd known that and could have saved yourself some money by not buying it. Since there is no faction any AoE spells cast hit everyone, friend, foe, mob everyone. How on earth is that going to work later on?! AE spells don't hit group members, so the rather simple and obvious solution is to invite your friends to your group before you start raining down AE spells. Also another gripe was the blatant hacking going on; speedhacking, levitatiion as well. That did happen in beta so I read, although I never saw it actually happen in-game. It was fixed before the game was released. |

Originally posted by admriker4 The talent system, feats, is pretty good. There are 2 class specific trees and a smaller 3rd tree that's shared with all classes in the same archtype. Each class specific tree has two feats at the bottom and you get enough points to either take both bottom talents in a tree, or take 1 of the bottom talents and still go pretty deep into one of the other trees. Additionally, there are also skills, hiding, perception, climbing, mana regen, mana tap (returns a bit of mana everytime you nuke something), bandaging, concentration, and the interface looked like there was room for some others, maybe get those later? These of course being the caster skills, I didn't play melee much so I'm not sure what kinds of skills they get. We'll have some options when it comes to customizing our characters. |

Originally posted by Douhk We're not going to see a lot of assassins for 3 reasons.... 1. Everybody can stealth. 2. Everybody can stealth. 3. Last, but not least...everybody can stealth. You're right about stealth classes thriving on border-line overpowered stealth tactics....but we're not forced into playing an assassin just for the sake of stealth. Thus, we're not going to see a large number of assassins. In the beta I didn't see many assassins. Not that I was counting, but they seemed to be one of the lower population classes...and when I did see them they were my primary target because they are so easy to kill. Just fart and wave it in their general direction and they'll fall over dead, it doesn't even have to be a good fart. I mainly played my Tempest of Set in the FFA PVP beta, stealth casters are great!!! I could sneak within casting range and get 2-3 spells off before my target realized where the damage was coming from. GIve a caster that much of an opening advantage and it's just as effective as an assassin showing up out of nowhere. This worked especially well vs melee classes since once they targeted me they'd still need to close the range....allowing me time to get off a couple more nukes. Many melee classes didn't live long enough to get me within their melee range....and even if they did get on me I had a root, a stun, and heals. Assassins aren't going to be the only stealthed threat in AoC. |

Guildmate Nipples says to guild: Hey guys is the siege started yet or am i early. Guildmate Leet says to guild: Well we have 2 Leaders, 10 officers and over 100 members. Atm theres 12 for sure going and 6 other great PvPers logging n now, so we can take 30 more. Guildmate Nipples says to guild: Ok i m on now can you add me? Guildmate Leet says to guild: Lets see, in the last seige you totally kicked ass, followed directions, and played a significant role in helping us to acheive victory, we've got room for you. Guildmade Balls says to guild: I'm here to can you add me? Guildmate Leet says to guild: Lets see, in the last seige, you showed up late, were AFK half the time, and even when you weren't AFK you completely ignored all instructions and you managed to kill less people than anybody else while dieing the most. You are going to have to sit this one out because your performance was so terrible last time, other guild members deserve their chance. |

Originally posted by jiveturkey12 There is armor rating, every piece of gear I saw had a defense stat, not exactly armor, but pretty close from my understanding of the combat mechanics. Also, WE WERE LEVEL 20! Which is basically the end of the tutorial and the begining of the game. Have you ever played any MMO where gear played a significant role in the first few levels? I haven't and I've played a lot of MMOs. Why do people insist on thinking game mechanics/game balance at level 20 has anything to do with the end game? |

Originally posted by Leucent How do you know it's a performance thing? Maybe the devs wanted to keep battles to a reasonable size becuase they realize trying to organize 100's of people is a clusterf*ck and just turns out to be a big meaningless talentless zergfest. Managing 48 is still going to be rough, but at least manageable, and with a smaller size tactics will come into play. Maybe the limit is performance related, but either way, I'm very happy the size is limited to less than 50. As for not being invited to the seige because you don't play 24/7...if you're in a guild that picks the 48 people based on friendship or activity rather than ability, your guild will lose. Smart guilds will be picking the best players. And without predetermined attack times, guilds would just stay up all night until the rival guild went to bed, then they'd take the keep. Hello shadowbane, unlimited seige times were tried and failed miserably. |

Originally posted by Greygon If you are going to cry about people having some pvp fun on the last day of the beta, which was also the first day of FFA PVP, you are probably better off on a PvE server and avoiding the PvP lands all together. Its not that hard to get away from the spawn point. Run, chug a health pot, chug a stam pot if you can't out run them. They won't chase you too far, they are intersted in camping the spawn point and not chasing someone half way across the zone. This was the one and only day to play on a FFA PVP server in beta, don't judge by that. Yeah, there will be some spawn camping after release...which is a hell of a lot better than WoWs corpse camping. But don't expect the game to be a madhouse like it was saturday. |

The open beta was limited to lvl 13, at which point the classes had similiar abilities so it's really hard to tell. At lvl 20, the classes start to feel a little more unique, but really it's still too early to tell how well they are going to be balanced. And if funcom got class balance right at the early levels, it'd probably be screwed at the higher levels. As for the conqueror sucking, until the soldiers get their plate they are probably going to be fairly weak. |
