After so many years I have decided to give WoW a try.

So far I am impressed and when people say the game is polished I can give an example.  Your progession through quests is linked with the lore of your starting area and there are plenty of quests to keep you occupied.  I think I underestimated the size of some areas (eg Silvermoon City) and I was pleasently suprised.

Combat is fluid and I have to position my self to reduce the chance of my attacks being dodged or parried (started a Blood Elf rogue).  I am not sure if there is any collision detection?

I do have some questions though.

1. At what level can you begin to PVP?

2. What professions should I pickup and at what level would it be worthwhile to start them?

3.  As you progress towards the higher levels do you need to carry a lot more consumables or are they just luxury items?

I am sure for some the game may not be new, but it definately is for me.

Battlegrounds PvP begin at 19, General PvP at any lvl.

I advise PvP as soon as possible, this will insure you epic battlegear at 60

Professions should begin immediately and it depends on what you want to be. My Cloth wearing toons are usually enchanters/tailors; leather wearer's, skinner/LW; etc... But you may choose to pick a class benefited trade like gnome's get an advantage to Engineering, or Draenei to JewelCrafting.

At the higher levels you will begin to grasp the game easier and better equiptment will be made available to you to make the game easier. Gold is a constant, so save for what you want and generate it by utalising your professions, Primary and secondary (fishing, cooking, and first aid).

Good luck.

BTW I have Toons on like 10 different servers, both alli and horde and it isn't serving to peak my interest much except for my lvl 55 troll shammy, my first above 50 horde.

With 4 70's and t5/t6 level or equal gear on oneof them, it was an easy choice to at least try AoC. (not PvP gear cuz that doesn't count cuz it is to easy to get) I already pre-order WotLK thru gamestop 6 months ago, but I really don't know if i can stand leveling again just to be disapointed and forcing myself to have fun with the game. (pre-ordered cuz i figured why not i had the store credit and nothing interested me) there will be 10 classes with a total of 30 different specs and they plan on continuing with 10 man content. Personally i feel that they should go back to the old 40 mans, but have 20 mans instead of 25... for 2x20 is 40, and i beleive 40 divided by 2 is 20 as well, but i can't be sure...It just makes more sense to me. (Sorry got a lil random there)

Basically, for my sake, I'm praying i fall inlove with AoC once it finishes installation cuz i need something new that another expansion just won't give me.

I admit I have been holding back completing my Gladiator set (which is a waste since I have many epics from ZA and Magister's now) because I am realising how redundant it is becoming everyday to play my 3 70s and my newly lvl'd 66 hunter. I am already looking at other MMORPGs for entertainment.

And does anyone know what's up w/ the new portal to THERAMORE???

Yeah, there's a new Portal to Theramore.  I'm assuming this is to make traveling to Theramore a bit easier which in turn makes getting to places like Gadgetzan which is a pain in the rear to get to easier.  Why on earth they just didn't make it to Gadgetzan is beyond me, although Engineers can already access Gadgetzan directly so that may have had something to do with it.  I really felt like Blizz made a mistake when they made put Azurmyst Isle near Darnassus.  If they just would have put it off the coast of Tanaris instead, it would have made everything a lot easier to get too.

Sorry to reply to my own post, but after reviewing the WoTLK info that has just been released, it appears to be obvious why the new portal to Thereamore.  It's because Theremore will have transportation to Northrend's Borean Tundra when the expansion is released.

I suspected it was gonna be something like that since they did the same thing in Auberdine when BC was scheduled.

I am a big WoW player, but I now have 3 70s and I am sick of grinding rep. I'd like a buddy pass to see if this game re=sparks my interest. TY in advanced.
