1. I have finally started playing other MMOs than WoW again. The reason I stuck with it for a year and a few months was the fun content in leveling. The end game suks.

2. Yes, the queues for PvP are the worst thing to happen in any MMO. Besides maybe faction grinding.

3. I do think Blizzard spends money on improving the game, but I have yet to see the improvements. Yes there are free content patches, but the real changes are expected in the expansion, which we'll pay for....

This is a great topic! As for my view:

Fantasy:

Way overdone. How many games can you play with Humans, elves, dwarves?

More storyline is definitely needed. Dont give us a backstory to follow, give us a story to create throughout the course of the game.

Sci-Fi

There is too much traditional material. Devs seem to think that in order to make sci-fi fun you need a good brand name like Star Wars, Star Gate, Star Trek. Get away from the DAMN Star Stuff! Try something original. Space ships and laser guns are great dont get me wrong, but much more originality can be found in sci-fi than is already out there.

[So...what about the hardcore gamers who play all the time? Well if all MMO's adopted the constant content and level increase patches then people would be forced to have a life and to get off the computer. So you win both ways. You get a healthier lifestyle, since you won't be glued to your computer 24 hours a day and you get a game that has a constant story and levels.]

Nthnaoun - How does having constant content and level increases force people to get off the computer? If games continuously raised their levels then players would constantly work on getting those levels. Your entire statement makes NO sense.

WoW better come out with something good this fall on the expansion. Or many people will leave the game. The end-game in WoW is plain and simply awful. Terrible PvP, long repeatable raids for 40 players (ok two 20 player raids). I think you will see many people leave the game when Conan and Warhammer come out. Dont get me wrong there will still be a ton of people who play, but it will mostly be kids. Older gamers who have seen it all will want a change.

Great read bro!! I have no doubt this game will be great! I can honestly say that my Warcraft acct. has a short lifespan now....no matter what the expansion brings.

WAR is Coming!

Thanks again for the long write up!

HI all,

I very rarely reply to an article I wrote in forums but this one is different. After reading this article again a month after the NYT article came out I can quite honestly say that WOW has not changed one bit. I still raid ZG with my guild but that is only for the faction grind to get my epic chest piece. Other than that I dont really care about the game any more. WOW has pretty much lost it for me. Ive honestly spent the last few weeks painting up a new Nurgle Army for Warhammer Fantasy Battles. I also have been previewing some other games for MMORPG. I do play WOW still, but not near the capacity that I was. Honestly it all slowed down for me when AQ opened. My wife and I logged in for the event, had a good time playing and then tried the instance. The first run thru felt like ZG all over again with a different look. WOW has had several patches and NOTHING has been done with world PVP. Don't these developers know that end-game PVP is what drives MMORPGs to stay alive? Players love to test their skills against each other....GIVE THEM THAT CHANCE !! AND DONT MAKE THEM WAIT 30 MINUTES TO DO IT!!! After years of online gaming it just Frustrates me.

Eindrachen I do agree with you completely. Starkmd and Simstar I am right there with you!!

I have not given up on WOW yet though, mostly because Im waiting for Warhammer Online to really make the switch. I do also like the idea that games like SEED Online and Age of Conan are presenting to break people away from the MMORPG grind that EQ and WOW are giving us.

I hope this response helps. I also hope to see you all out there in cyberworld trying new games that break the norm!!!

Cheers,

As I said in another post. Why not get organized and get a lawyer to file a class action suit against Sony and Lucas Arts. Players have a huge case here! I doubt anyone would get money from it, but it would cause a ton of bad press for the company and game. So many people are angry why not....

Body Blow, Body Blow....KNOCK 'EM OUT!!!

It's possible for the players to get organized, get a lawyer, and file a class action suit. I doubt you would get any money back, but the bad press for Sony and Lucas Arts would be worth it. Those Devs deserve to have it shoved in their face that they blew the game. If anything the news that would follow may give players a voice against MMORPG game designers who don't want to listen.
