What incentives will this game have to stay alive? And vise versa, what are my incentives to kill? I love PVP but I want a reason to stay alive, even in PVE. That's probably my biggest turn off on games like WoW. I don't care if I live or die. I'll just come right back. Sorry if this has been asked before, but I don't see it. |

The devs have not totally answered the "Death Penalty" question yet, we know some of what it will involve, but not necessarily everything. There will be a death penalty, stat wise, from multiple re-clones in a short period of time. The more deaths, the more serious penalties you'll take to your base stats, and the longer it will take for your stats to return to normal. Among other things, this will prevent "zerging" that people have seen in different games. After too many deaths, people will have to stop, or be totally combat ineffective. The devs have not said if equipment decay will be tied to a death. But, in PvE, one very real consequence of death, will BE the trip to the cloner, as travel will be done in near real time, the devs have said it could take up to 12 hours to run across the whole game world, and it might take a good bit of time to get back to where you were. For PvP deaths, in addition to the travel time, the devs have said there may be limited looting of corpses, for things like ammunition, bandages, some cash and other semi-disposable supplies. They have shied away from allowing full looting or looting of major or equipped items, as of right now. There will also be faction ramifications, gaining and losing faction and other game points, but the effects of what that will be are not clear. The devs have taken the general opinion, that death should have consequences and these should become more serious after repeated deaths. But they do NOT want to make these penalties so severe that it is going to make people want to leave the game over it.

I love looting corpses. :) That whole cloner deal sounds like a WoW knockoff though. I sure hope it's the only thing they are stealing. There isn't much good in that game, except for being polished and mind numbing. If any devs are looking to these forums, which they very well might be, how about a small chance.... just a hope to get something good. Maybe not what the person is wearing, but say they have a rare item or what not in their backpack. Give me a 1% chance to get it. That's all most hardcore PVPers need. (we want alot more, but most of us have learned over the years to settle for what we can get.) And those of us who want it won't cry about losing something. Personally I don't like 100% Loss of Everything including equipped. But my ideal PVP Penalty is: |

Well, most MMOs use the "cloner" idea or a variation of it, how else does one explain a character popping up healthy after getting FUBARed? So, I wouldn't worry worry too much about it. The devs are gamers too, and this game will NOT be WoW. I encourage you to go over to to the main site and do a search on PvP and looting threads, there have been a good many opinions about it and the devs DO read and sometimes respond over there. Most people want a penalty for death. Most people want some kind of looting or equivalent reward for PvP. Most everyone does NOT want full looting and totally unrestricted PvP, and the devs have indicated that won't be happening. But nothing else has been totally decided. Check the forums and Question of the Week sections at www.fallenearth.com for the full story. |

Thanks. I'll definitely check it out. You'll have to excuse me for not doing much research about this game. I am tired of being disappointed about a game I follow, it's already happened several times. I don't think it's going to be like WoW. It's just the only one I've seen with a death sickness. I have been looking forward to this game for awhile, but don't want to immerse myself in the community too much to set myself up for disappointment again. Hopefully this is my savior. I followed Middle Earth Online for 2yrs, till it sold out to Turbine and became LoTRO. I followed another game that disbanded. Can't remember the name honestly, it's been some time. I followed PoTBS for 2yrs (AT LEAST) and was very disspointed in that. I even followed WoW for about 1yr to 6months before release. |

Can't WAIT to play this game. As a SWG Pre-CU vet, this game is the most appealing game in a long, long time. |
