Originally posted by BesCirgayeah it's hard to tell now, this old site http://www.mmogchart.com/ used to keep up with the numbers but i guess he has quit updating it. but as of july '06 AC1 had 10k, but i'm sure it has fluxed a lot since the last expansion. but from my own personal experience from playing the game, back in it's hayday it had 120k subs, and at that time each server had 3100 people on it at any given time. now it has been running at 900 to 1100 on average at peak times. so i figure it must be around at least a 3rd of what it once did. there are 9 servers active still. but i'm sure there was a lot more to AC2 going under, but all in all if AC2 had the player base to support it then it would have stayed active. |

Last Time I heard anything about amount of people per server, (cant remember when or if it was here or official forums - will try and dig it up) Darktide, being the most populated, peaked around 600 peeps. I have no clue if this is true, because when I log inn now I cant see how much each server hold anymore. I might have a newish launcher. I can tell you that all servers are up and going, but turbine had said that a server merge arent going to happen no matter how low population goes, it is to risky. They would rather delete servers before mergeing hehe |

Originally posted by BesCirgaDT has always been the least populated of the servers. open ended PvP isn't that popular. Even in it's hayday DT had about 2600 while the others had around 3100. that was back in '01 to '02 timeframe that i remember. you can use a decal plugin called "players online" if you want to check it out. you can find it at: http://haxit.org/blog/decal-plugins/ if you need decal you can find it here: |

Perhaps it's not just the number of subscriptions that makes or breaks a game. Perhaps companies need to take into account the amount of money and effort (costs) it takes to keep a game alive. The Devs always said that making something for AC was relatively easy. If they made a new item for AC2 it took much more time to create. So less Dev time, means lower cost and thus it takes less subscriptions to keep a game afloat. I'm sure there's more to it than just this, e.g. good will, but it's something to keep in mind. |

To hell with AC2. Just remake AC1 with a new coat of paint. And get some advertising out there. |
